Matt, I don't even own a welder...yet! I have binge watched the entire Mongrel series you have posted. Very happy to see your attention to detail. I watch videos because I love the craftsmanship and skill you have but to also learn welding techniques. I watch many RU-vid car restoration videos for the same reason. Your videos on the Mongrel build are easily some of the best real world examples to model welding techniques after, along with why you are doing what you do as part of the build decisions you make. With that thought in mind, I humbly request when you weld in your videos, can you please share your preference for setup of equipment you choose to use, perhaps in a quick overview of your choice of selecting for wire thickness, wire speed, the welder you are using, and perhaps the nozzle cup size and type of tip, along with machine settings for Amps, etc. Thank you.

I've seen videos on the rounded corner done by someone in India wearing sandals and stick welding with car batteries. They never explained the mathematics of the layout. Now I have to get some stock and practice. Thank you.

I learnt to weld in the 70s and I haven't picked up welder for 30 years so it is great to see somebody go through old school lessons so well, you should run courses for your local tech, your CV is on RU-vid.

Nice thanks. I'm fairly new to welding / fabricating. I am about to fabricate a knock down stand for a woodworking drum sander I built. I will be using 25 mm x 25 mm tube. This video gave me some good hints. I do have a welding miter clamp and a chop saw, so hopefully fitting it up won't be too difficult. Now if only my welding technique were better....

Great video, Matt! On suggestion for improvement: instead of measuring the length of the 45° insert and the 90° bend line, I suggest calculating it. 45° insert: multiply tube width by sqrt(2) which is approximately 1.4 bend line: multiply tube with bei pi/2 which is approximately 1.57

One trick I started several years ago to get exact measurements on round tubes, circles, corners, etc that is down and dirty is to use a clothes designer/ makers measures tape. They come in metric and US and you can rap them around tubes or angles to get exact measurements on the fly, they work great.
