Great video! A tip for making rural US farms, at least based on Corn Belt states, like where I'm from, the farms themselves are predominantly rectangular (or square) in shape and the road networks are typically grids. Also, roads are almost always paved, although dirt roads are not uncommon on the farms themselves.

The problem with paved roads in cities skylines without mods is that they have curbs and footpaths and it doesn't fit in

Living in rural Illinois, i would agree. However, in vanilla CS, paved roads have sidewalks and are quite wide, whereas real life country roads have no sidewalks or curbs, are usually poorly maintained, and are quite narrow.

In agricultural central PA there's tons of places where the road bends 90 degrees. "Farmers turns" I've heard them called. Also you should be ready to add a line of trees in between fields to break the wind. A "windbreak"

I love the farm tips with the vegetation. If you're playing 100% vanilla, just be mindful that when you zoom out, the vegetation won't be visible. Trees are, but vegetation isn't (for some reason).

The rural farmland I grew up in had weird lot shapes for the farms, and so often between fields would be someone's house. That might be an interesting thing to bring into the design of an area, though I don't know that the residents of the house would appreciate the noise pollution. LOL

The allotment club looks so nice - like the edge of Polish middle-sized city! In Poland we have a lot of such gardens, but I've been always wondering, how we can recreate them in Cities: Skylines - now I know!

Your creativity is incredible; definetly on the builders podium🏆 Another tip may be to elevate a straight line of terrain to ~9 meters and drag a train track to have a welcoming enter to the city ;)

Hello again and thank you for another wonderful video full of ideas without mods. BUT here's a little info which you probably don't know or maybe just ignored for the sake of esthetics: adding trees and plants over a fertile land will make it lose the fertility permanently. This will matter especially right next to farm extractors which will have a reduced production because of that. Wish you all the best!

I like to zone a 4x4 low density residential and then put the riding stable next to it to look like a large ranch house property. I’ve also made an oval horse track using gravel paths and fences next to the stable

How about a Palace, formal gardens, and country estate build? There's some nice assets like Brandenburg Gate, Arc de Triomphe, Oppression Office and Amsterdam Palace to get started. I'm not entirely sure how I'd continue (yet).

ill have to incorporate a few of these. my playstyle is heavily modded but low on manual detailing so rural farming areas are hard to achieve a natural look, but some of these are very simple to achieve. i like in the last one how the 1x1 houses are 95% garage and 5% house rather than being 100% house and just expecting the residents to park on the street.

How do those zoned tiles in the farmer’s market still work with fences? Normally when you place a fence next to a road it will block zoning on that part of the road.

You can only use a dirt road for that. Since dirt roads have a small gap in between the zoning and the road itself

The allotment club works also pretty well with the European Suburb Creator Pack. From 1x1 up to 1x4 bring nice results and a bit diversity! 👍

yeah this was one feature the game cities XL had that i liked (though i dont recall specifically if it had farms, but just for regular zoning). youd zone odd shaped and sized blocks and the game would just find a building that fit then fill in the rest with props. i hope cities skylines 2 introduces a less grid based zoning system. like keep a click and fill method there for people that want the simple gameplay, but let us draw in proper lot divisions and then just find a building that will fit to spawn on it.

Hi imperatur, I've tried using the same trees and bushes as you use on console edition and they don't overlap like this at all, can get ok results but why does your vanilla builds allow this, are you using something to allow overlapping?

This is impossible to build on Xbox game. Just only viewing the first Fields. It is impossible to put lower bushes like you do in the video because bushes need to be placed at minimum 1cm from another one so the effect is not the same to fill the empty spaces.

I play on console and can't get the same overlap on vegetation and shrubs. Makes it impossible to create that level of density to mimic the look of the field. Is that just a pc thing?

It doesn't work on console. I do have a console too and have the same problem as you have. It's impossible to place them as near as you want to.

with the building/node etc selected in move it, use page up and page down on your keyboard to raise/lower by 1 unit, or hold shift and use page up and page down to move by 5 units.
