I remember when I got my first Jazz III pick. It was great, but sometimes I felt it a little too small. When I got the Petrucci one, it just blew my mind that was the perfect size for me, and it's pointyness helped me with precision in both solos and riffs

Yeah it’s funny, it definitely feels too small at first, but it doesn’t take long to get used to… I’ve really kinda narrowed it down to three picks that I use regularly and the JP3 is one of them. If your a rhythm player who plays thrash metal, definitely check out the Hetfield pick, really helps with speed picking on the low E… But for leads, the JP3 is FANTASTIC!!! I really feel like it makes harmonics easier too… Thanks for watching 🤘

@@FretboardDiaries I've been using the hetfeild picks and I love them but the price 😬, any suggestions for similar replacements S

@@Titty_tickler yeah man, The Hetfield is based of the Dunlop Flow design. Shape is practically identical, but it lacks the texture that the Hetfield has. I buy them as well and use them frequently. It's almost perfect, but the JP logo is just so slippery.

I've been playing JP jazz iii for years but recently tried ROMBO picks, horizon in particulary, now I'm having doubts 😄 You have to try them

Speaking of Whitefang, I was going to buy Blackfang, but instead of a default box with all 3 gauges, Amazon wants us to choose one size, so if you happen to have all three or would like ti get them, please do a video on all Blackfang sizes, as I haven't been able to find a single video yet.

Oh right on man, I didn’t even realize Black Fangs had come out… So I’m just finishing up moving and haven’t started to reassemble my studio yet but once I do I will definitely make a vid on them and the difference… Thanks for the comment and suggestion 🤘🎸

I use the most bendy thin picks so i can strum easier

I’m a huge fan of thin picks for acoustic playing… It was something I had wanted to mention and simply forgot… There’s something about playing with a thin pick and an acoustic…

Man, it must just be me- i cant use anything over about .80 without it ruining my sound. Light picks give me the attack and squish that I like. I go all the way down to .5 to .6

It’s really all about personal preference… I absolutely LOVE thin picks when playing acoustic, but for electric, I find it harder to play fast with. For others, they may find it easier. I never thought I’d like a really small pick like the Jazz III and yet, it’s become my favorite pick… I think every so often it’s good to change things up and try something new… Maybe I’ll have to give a thinner pick on the electric another go 🤘🎸

What gauge is the petrucci pick? I’m looking for a great pick for pinch harmonics but I always want a pick that’s around 1mm
@FretboardDiaries
@FretboardDiaries Год назад
I believe they are a 1.5mm… Fantastic pick though… If you’re looking for a 1.0, maybe just try the Jazz III, that’s what the Petrucci is based off of and you can get those in a 1.0mm. I still prefer the Petrucci though, JP3

@@FretboardDiaries 1.5 is perfect I just didn’t want anything too thin since I play mostly tabs
