I’m inlove with the .60-.73 max grip Dunlop for acoustic strum or .80-1.14 Dunlop max grip down picking there all grey has like a thumb print kinda thing for grip it’s great

I've stuck to 1.14mm for quite some time now. Currently using Hetfield's White Fangs because they seem to last for so long, so I still need to check out the regular Flow picks. Definitely wanna use a thinner pick for acoustic stuff, but haven't found my "go-to" yet.

Awesome video I use Dunlop 2mm flow picks for everything. They have amazing edge bevels for minimal string friction, so they worth really well for lead and rhythm. Definitely worth trying, I think they're basically John Petrucci picks without the stupid inflated price.

I quite like 0.2mm picks, it works really well for heavy, fast picked riffs like from Slayer or Metallica. Great video Matt, hope you're getting on well mate 🤘🎸

I Absolutely love the 1.5 yellow ever-last .. just killer! It’ feels like the Steve vai pick he threw to me while he was playing the love of god .. at the time I was not really good at picking , and thought the pick was to thick .. but now I am pretty good at alternate picking and now it feels Amazing! I also like the purple Dunlop tortex1.4 .. strange how I am always changing picks as I develop my picking technique. I used the red small jazz 3 for like 3 years .. and now I like the larger picks ..

I can't seem to decide on just one pick. Good thing I don't play live because I use the James Hetfield picks for acoustic, a normal Jazz III for when I plan on doing alot of lead playing, and actually the John Petrucci Jazz picks when I'm playing strictly rhythm

I'm a really normal person because I use the 0.80 mm Dunlop picks but I actually used to use the 2.0 mm, also by Dunlop. Nowadays I still use them to play some ac/dc and they feel so damn weird

Godamn, those gallops on Battery at the start 🤘🏻🔥 I’ve been on the Hetfield .94s for the last year now and the Jim Root Jazz 3s before that. I really like the point but I always feel like I’m missing something other players are getting with the rounder edge of more normal Shaped picks.. especially when it comes to tight rhythms etc. The point on those Hetfield ones are great for my leads though 100%

Been using the Dunlop jazz III 1.38mm ULTEX picks for a while now, love the shape and small size, material seem to have a bit more grip over the other jazz III picks too.

I use 2.0mm and 1.5mm playing Thrash and Black Metal I feel like I have an easier time alternate picking and playing faster riffs with thicker picks.

Hey Matt, great chugs! So i checked out your Prodigy picks vid from 2 yrs ago. I wanna buy some. I thought you'd still be playing those. Would you recommend these over those?

The prodigy are good but for me i prefer the Everlast

@@mattriffmaster So does not having such a pointy tip give you more control over your chugs? Thanks for replying btw! Good thing picks are inexpensive and you can try a bunch before you get to the perfect one for that season at least.

No mate the control comes from you and the thickness of the pick

I like tortex 1.35 sharps. They help my chords ring out really clearly in the mix.

still use the basic EB green ones .88mm for everything (9-42, 9-46, 10-46, 11-48 string gauges) and put into practice hours (dont play professionally, just as a hobby) every practice session for me is anywhere between1 to 2 hrs, so it would be about every 10 sessions or so, or up to 20 hrs, before the tip of the pick is completely lost and I switch to a new one. I have thought about maybe going up a size and seeing how those feel and last, but I bought a bag w/ 72 picks and still have over half of the bag to go, and I only play like once or twice a week. so it'll be awhile before I finish the bag off.

Uso 2mm con cuerdas 9-46 en mi estándar. Realmente es solo cosa de costumbre. Tal vez cueste un poco más para ritmos limpios pero es solo cuestión de practica lo que se necesita. Buen video…. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Late on getting to this, been hectic getting through life, lately I typically use 1mm-1.14mm picks Tried all sorts, but they're what have stuck, and don't fall out of my hands I'm mainly a Dunlop guy and all...I have a few of the Everlast picks, but they don't feel quite right to my hand (still highly recommend people try them) And I'm the kind of heathen that tunes to Eb and Drop C# with 9s...the right setup does allow for it, but care must still be taken I use a lot of bends, and heavier strings like to break, given the higher tension

For electric I have picks that range from as thin as .88 to as thick as 4mm (maybe thicker, I'm not 100% sure). It just depends how I'm feeling really. String gauge never made a difference to me. For acoustic though, I go thin as well. Usually .60 because I like the way they feel for strumming.
