Took you a while to grip down to hit a shorter chip and you holed it. Watson always said to shorten up and stay aggressive on chips. Slowing your tempo around the green? Chili dip time. Put all your weight on the front foot to avoid chunking it.
Best information out there to get that club face square and hit the ball in the sweet spot of the club. So much information that you give in these videos Michael. I love this Chanel. Stay safe my friend.
Went and played the GREENBRIER last week and shot 73 with 9 fw 12gir and 31 putts... My putting has been atrocious from 6-10 feet the last couple months... Should've shot 68ish but couldn't make anything
At least you're not 3 putting any greens and your pretty much automatic for recovery. Putting is so difficult access as making the perfect stroke doesn't guarantee you making the putt. As long as you're not 3 putting and starting all putts to your intended line, nothing you can do after that
You are now performing the ‘Rule of Twelve’; calculate the spot on the green you want to hit in feet, then calculate the distance to the flag in feet from that point on the green; distance to flag divided by the location chosen (7) feet on the green will select your club. Example: 7 feet to the location on the green you want to hit, from that location to the flag is 21 feet - 21/7 = 3; 12 - 3 = 9; grab your 9 iron and hit your spot 7 feet away on the green, the ball will roll to the flag. This calculation can be used for all irons in your bag.
Practice, practice, practice... I'm one of those players that likes to use the same club (Sand Wedge) for all chip shots. However, I see the advantage of using an 8 or 9 iron around the green as well... Unfortunately, I come up short on the long chip shots more often than I should. And letting the shot dictate the club... However, got to practice to get the feel... Thanks you've given me much to think about. As you said, make the easy shots easy... I am pretty sure I lose an average of 4 strokes a round from missed (poor distance control) chip shots...
