This was a great video!! My son was one of those that struggled with just "standing there" but he didn't know how to fix it. I think we learned more in this video than we have through 2 years of questioning the coach. Thank you for putting this together. Would love to have even more information for that topic if you would (i.e. getting your kid to move more off ball on attack, how to get him to move even more).

So great to hear this was helpful and thanks for the support! The single greatest piece of advice I've had on this is watching the tape together. Players don't realize how much standing around they do until they see it. On the field in the heat of the moment is more of a challenge. This is something that needs practiced and part of the offense. I good reminder is the ole basketball 5 sec rule. If you are in the same spot for 5 secs you are probably doing something wrong. This doesn't mean run all over the place. Just simple cuts to occupy your defender but staying in the same "spot" has value too!

I have a question when you are the outlet should you be mirroring the dodgers.

Hmmm good question. Being an outlet often means you are adjacent to the dodger. Your job is to stay out of the way, unless you are needed. I wouldn't call it mirroring, but if they dodge towards you, you need to cut through the crease and get out of the way. Why? Because we don't want your defender to easily double the dodger. Getting out to the way is best in case your teammate gets a step on his man. Other than that you need to be following in a space that allows you to be an outlet if needed, but DON'T BRING YOUR DEFENDER TO THE DODGER. Hopefully thats clear ;) Good luck and thanks for the question!
