I don't know why... but I suddenly have the urge to purchase a REDTIGER Golf Rangefinder with Slope, 1200 Yards Laser Range Finder Golfing, 7X Magnification, Flag Pole Locking Vibration, Rechargeable Range Finders with Magnet Stripe
Matt, I don't comment on channels often, but I just had to tell you how much you have helped me. I am 54 and just picked the game up last year. I had played a little many years ago, but never really PLAYED. I couldn't deal with the failure 😂 Anyway, I have used your 'Breaking Series" to systematically improve and make the game fun. I am capable of good golf a year in breaking 90 consistently. MUCH respect to you and your teaching abilities. Your game management skills are amazing. Plus, the ease of your approach. You took the fear out of the game for me, and let me just focus on improving. I hope you get a chance to read this. I am out playing with my son weekly. It has has been a special time for us both. THANK YOU, sir! Much love, brother!!!!!
Baus Long time watcher first time caller. Your content has evolved in amazing fashion almost in step with the devolving of your amazing fashion. You keep it fun and you keep it simple. When I started watching your videos I was a frustrated 18 hcp and a few years later a happy 6hcp that enjoys practice as much as I do playing. I am in your debt and thank you for your efforts. SS
Had my best 9 holes ever today, I FEEL SO ALIVE! I started playing in January and this is the best channel bar none!! Thank you for all the great advice, TITTIES TO THE TARGET! After starting the 1st 2 holes with a quadruple bogey, I heard GolfSidekick in my head, play confidential. Check the distances, put down my goal posts, avoid the dangers, titties to the target every shot. Left the driver in the bag and then i was par the next 3 holes, in the rain! par a par 5 later and sunk a 35ft putt in front of the clubhouse and a group of old ladies like a BAOSS! Love the content, please never stop!
Started playing golf this March and just hit a 96 today. Under 100 for the first time and it was exclusively thanks to your vids and advice on getting a few Pro lessons. Cheers playa
I love how you focus on course management vs a specific technique and distance. I play bogey golf and using the course management strategy gives me confidence I can stay in the 80’s despite my age.
Yes sir, technique produces distance - 100% of golfers would be better off with a in person coach rather than a video about mechanics. Course management is also personal but you can get some quick ideas to hanhge your perspective. All swing mechanic tips on RU-vid are junk. We keep it real
I am a junior golfer, and every single video of yours inspires me to keep practicing every day and to get as good as you. Thank you so much for every single video and keep up the amazing content! Way of the Playa! Also, which app do you use to track the flight of the ball? Thank you!
THANK YOU MATTY!!!!! I’m a 22 handicap more due to bad swing than the mental game since I’ve been learning mental game from you. Today my swing lessons have come together and I struck every shot pure and despite being a 22 handicap I shot 1 under par for 6 holes before it got dark! I think I would’ve gone on a tear if I had more daylight! Thanks Matty for all the help!!!! Much love
Committed to the way of the Playa over recent weeks. First time breaking 90 last weekend scoring an 88 in a Medal off the back tees! Second in the comp! Best channel on the tube! Thanks!
I am absolutely loving the content for better golfers. I have been watching and embracing the way of the playah since I started taking golf serious 7 years ago. Past couple years the content wasn't as relevant as when I was a worse golfer but now I am getting absolute gems like this one more and more and I love it!
I find the tips are generally the same for scoring. The biggest thing that changes is our skills in each facet,. But when it comes to 75 or better, I think its intangibles that really count. I will elaborate on them in the next few vids playa. I really think we should delve into the mind and some more intangible stuff like lies, mindset, angles, expectations etc.
I’ve been playing for ~40 years and learn something every video…Great on course advice… btw…mocking the good/good guys with the caps was subtly hilarious.
Man oh Man, you are the real deal. Never would I have imagined that I would follow someone so "lax" and "unconventional", but your ideas are money. I love your personality and your approach to golf. "Stinky Winky Good!" :-)
@@GolfSidekick I have been following coaches like Eric Cogorno, Chris Ryan and Martin Chuck - getting most of the training tips from them and they have very traditional coaching styles. When I stumbled upon one of your videos, the loud / colorful shirts and contrasting bucket hats along with your colorful sunscreen caught me off guard - it's just not what you see everyday. And the tips / guidance you provide is very lax - like we are having a conversation. But the more I watched, the more it all made sense. And now I am a subscriber :-)
I'm not good, but slowly getting better. I find myself in really challenging spots often. I can't even guess how many times I've said, "no hero shots" to myself! Love it!
Ha! Subtle? I am trying to decide if I like this channel. What I most respect is that he has moved to Thailand, and his remarkably repeatable swing. But here is my confession, I have played golf seriously for 40 years, and have HONESTLY never planned my way around the course. Oh sure, I hit away from trouble, but I can play a course 100 times and not remember how a green breaks. I'm a 6.6 index, I use my brain for a living, but I"m lazy about thinking where my misses could be. By the way, the best way this guy makes or breaks par is that he repeats his efficient swing. And his short game putting is ....money. So why do I have to decide if the site is worth watching? Well, I may be too lazy to learn, and then his hypomanic presentation can wear on me. And the site is free? Like you tube, you're listening to ads. But he has to pay the bills, I know. Oh, hell, I am learning a lot, and paying attention to the thought process.
I’d add one more rule, never give up on a hole and never give up on a round. Hit a bad tee shot today and ball was close to the lip of the bunker. So following Matty Boom Boom’s advice I chose a club that I knew was going to clear the bunker. I took my 46 wedge. I hit the shot into the middle of the fairway 80 yards from the hole. My playing partner outdrives me by a ton and my ball was just inside his drive. We had a game going and I did not get upset. I hit my next shot to 19ft and got lucky and made the putt.
I just want to say that toe down chipping is amazing. Saved par on a 120ish yard par 3. Hit my landing zone, bounced once onto the green and rolled out to about 4 feet of the hole. To be honest, it felt like I was taking a hero shot as the bunker was dead ahead from me. If I'd have chipped it like I was taught, I'd have gone over the green and in the sand at minimum. I'm a beginner with a 35ish handicap.
Rule #3 commitment… it’s the one I struggle with the most and I’m sure it’s a big one for most scratch (or near) players with full time lives… difference between rounds of 68-70 and rounds of 75-78. Love the haircut. Well done.
Yes sir. That is what i find. I average about 1.5 rounds per week over a year. Mental game is huge when you have the foundations of ball striking and putting
I finally got my membership sorted today at my local club to start working on my handicap. Only been playing for 4 - 5 months so I will be happy with +36-40 for now 😂
For you just starting out, I highly recommend Matty's suggestion of 1 foot and 2 foot putts for 20-30 minutes at a time. ok, the first two times you do it may be a little boring but now - I love practicing two foot putts. And I can do it for 30 minutes and not blink an eye. This drill is money. I am such a better putter because of it. My putting line is so much straighter.
2 beers! I had 2 beers after a 22h coach journey fromPoland and i though my head was going to fall off. I doubt id be able to swing a club after 2 beers . What a baus battling through a hangover like that 😂
Great vid What kind of bug swarm was that at 8:05? I see Gnat swarms in Philly area sometimes. It maybe my cologne. LOL. Thanks for the info on the grasses. I did see you had that type of commentary over the years. You're living the life most of us never will in a "strange land". Thanks.
Many times you’ve referred to yourself as a hacker, but your swing is obviously very effective and everyone is different in this world. I say its a great swing. Thanks for your help, top channel
Hey Matty , I’m a dedicated admirer of your content and apply as much of your advice as possible to help my game with usually positive results like my 101T’s . At 67 I’m not gonna be hitting 275 yd. drives but I am capable of playing a little smarter ! I wish I had caddies here in Northern Michigan as good looking as yours because a little encouragement from her could surely make a big difference to me and my game !! 😂 Keep up the amazing videos you’re inspiring us !
Another superb, expertly presented video playa. Are those still the Takomo 101's you're using? Ordered mine four weeks back and lost all confidentiality in my 30yr old Callaways that I've learnt with.🇮🇪
Love the video. Staying committed 100% is my biggest struggle as well. Curious though, I know you usually use google earth to plan courses. What was the app used in the video where it gives the arc for dispersion?
Sometimes playa. Other day i couldn’t get it inside 2 feet of the cup. Granted i didn’t sleep much and Was burnt out from working. But it’s the only part of the game you can segregate and focus on and do well when the swing goes
In your notes about feet below and unstable lie you wrote, +10 degree loft, so you want more loft? Sorry I get a little confused in regard to loft. Thanks!!
