4 Mile Beach Walk - Port Douglas Australia

I swam in the enclosed section of the Four Mile Beach at the start of April this year - the water was 30 degrees C - warmest water I've ever swam in. Had a great three days in Port Douglas before heading north. Nice video - reminds me of my trip.

Hi Tom, ive really enjoyed watching a few of your vlogs and myself stayed in Port Douglas a few weeks ago, myself being from South Wales in the UK. That was in October and wanted to let your viewers know that October is no longer stinger season and so I swam quite freely in the water on Four Mile Beach. As I sat in the water two stingray casually swam up to me to see what was happening.....although the beach was then closed for an hour whilst a large male croc was ushered out of the area lol.

Loved Port Douglas amazing place. Cant wait for covid to go away so I can travel again

I swam at Port Douglas in August some years back. The water was warm. No problem with stingers or jellyfish or anything like that.

Ill be back in Port Douglas in 3 days. I was there in june, no stingers/jelly fish. This time its Feb, the wet season and hoping to catch a tropical storm. We live in Melbourne and I hope you enjoyed your stay in the land down under. I advise coming in the winter when its hot and dry. Come back anytime :)

Most don't kill you , just a little sting like from a wasp .we r heading up in 2 weeks can't wait ! Yeah stinger season is November to May I think. Pretty safe otherwise. :-)

When you come across one of those crocs, just be assertive and show them who runs faster!

It's mainly only summer months & during the rest of the year while the rest of Australia freezes down south the nets are taken down & you can swim in warm 28 degree water for the rest of the year.

Wearing stinger suits is what we do to avoid getting stung and swim in nets in North Queensland during stinger season. It is the Irikanji jellyfish that is the highly dangerous jellyfish. The crocodiles are seasonal also. I think as a protected beach you are not supposed to collect from the beach.

Tom I bet if there is no current technology to combat all hazards to swim in a part of the sea I'm sure creative engineers could work it out. But if I lived up there I would have a pool.

I went there in 1983 when I was 19 and have the beach to myself now I know why no one was swimming with me and why the one fisherman had rubbers on up to his navel! I didn't even know about the crocodiles why was taking a nap by the jungle

mossman gorge is the place to swim . mate

No one walks 4 miles in that heat. I can assure you
