I'm about to start selling my watercolour artwork in print and digital form in a few months and this video is a lifesaver! I'm a bit uneasy about only considering my overhang cost, not materials + labour cost, when pricing original art like watercolours that I then scan and offer as digital printable downloads. I feel like the time that I take to paint my artwork should somewhat be considered, while factoring overhang and the perceived value of my product. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but what would you do in this case? Thank-you so much Deb, all your videos and advice continue to save my life this year. I really appreciate how you explain things very clearly with great detail yet without being overwhelming.

I was able to find an app (Ribblr) that provides a template to write down patterns (knit/crochet). I can sell them there as well as on Etsy. My question is: I think of my patterns as pretty basic, but the maker needs to keep a tight tension and count carefully to shape the item. Listing it as intermediate or advanced should raise the price? I haven't gotten any feedback/reviews from the dear souls that have bought the patterns. I do send a thank you message to all the buyers to please contact me if they have questions or if they would be kind enough to show me their finished work - no takers after six months! I feel like an oak tree that drops its acorns and doesn't bother to know what was eaten or grew from them.

Hi! Thanks for watching and commenting :-) The level of difficulty of the pattern wouldn't in and on itself justify a higher price. People who are more experienced don't want to start paying more because they got better at their craft, nor should they really need to. It's more about the value of the pattern. Does it come with videos or tutorials for example where you help them through some tricky parts? Is the end-product itself, what they're creating, more valuable than your average knit/crochet project? Is it a bit more unique or orignal, etc.?
