It’s common practice in pediatric care to hold down children to get shots. There’s evidence that this action causes serious long term issues like fear, distrust and reluctance to comply with medically necessary treatments. I’m a health psychologist and an expert in medical illness, trauma, and pain with 25 years of experience. If I could wipe out any practice that happens on a daily in medicine…there is one very high on my list-holding down children for medical procedures.
