Fun fact. Alot of the time when you get 20 items in an order. It'll be 15 ketchup packets and 2 sets of utensils and then the actual food.

Doordash actually had a Walmart order here locally today going for $6.40 going to a Daycare with 219 items!!! Yes, 219 items!!! Only 1.5 miles away but the ONLY reason I took it when they resent it twice was because Spark was slow and I know the daycare owner and they look after over 100+ children daily and she always tips between $15 and $20, plus I view it as a helping the community/giving back to the community exception to the rule. Took over 1/2 hour to deliver inside to their kitchen but it helps the owner, the employees and the kids.

@gambler268 Год назад
My rule I’ve come up with. Example: Pickup by 8:00 time… I arrive at 7:58, if order isn’t ready at 8:05 I’m out. So usually it’s 5min, but I still take things in consideration waiting that long. Example if it’s been 5 min past pickup by time, and I seen employees of the restaurant talking I’m out. If the restaurant employees are moving hustling I’ll give them a few extra min. Wait no longer then 5 min. Time is money for us, and I’ve canceled orders only to receive a better payout and less mileage, immediately after hitting cancel.
@laureens4357
@laureens4357 Год назад
What you don’t realize is that a Dashers pickup time is 10 minutes before that shown on the app to the restaurant. Doordash wants to get us there. It’s not the restaurant’s fault. Sometimes we’re 30 minutes early.

I just started dashing 3 days ago and got sucked into a $4.00 tip that was 28 minutes away and out of zone. I WAS PISSED and wanted to say something to the guy but thought to myself “it’s not his fault. (other than being a cheap ass) YOU need to understand the rules of the game. That customer’s goal is to save THEIR time and money at the expense of YOUR time and money”. Now I make sure it’s 2:1 money to mile ratio. As far as I’m concerned As long as DD is allowing this type of behavior poor tippers should drive themselves to the restaurant.

Number 4 is a big one for me. DoorDash knows what they’re doing. Take Chick fil a. They start serving lunch at 10:30am. But if you go in the Chick fil a app and try and order lunch items before 10:30, you can’t. They’re locked. So they go through the DoorDash app, which lets them order lunch before 10:30am. I’ve gotten lunch orders at 9:50am before. DoorDash knows when chick fil a starts lunch service, so they do this nonsense on purpose. And also, I’ve been on with support. They WILL NOT cancel the order for you. They will make you cancel it yourself and take the hit on your completion rate, or you can choose to wait until lunch is served for no additional pay. Which is bullshit. Again, they know what they’re doing and they do it on purpose. As does Uber Eats. Should be illegal.

Just a note, I always tip and my area isn't high income-- but I know one specific time I had to triple the tip because I had to have my dasher take the order back (I instantly knew it was wrong the moment I had it) and have the restaurant remake the order and then fix it. they were kind enough to drive back a couple miles and get it and then return the correct order, but that shouldn't happen to me, and it shouldn't happen to a delivery service. it was very frustrating. I still love said chain and will get it when not in my town, but I haven't ever eaten at said chain again here because of this instance. I cannot believe the things Dashers have to put up with.

Easiest rule to ever follow is 5 minute rule. I wait 5 minutes if my order isn't ready I leave. No need to ask people anything none of that mess. Just leave. You aren't getting your order in a timely manner for you to make money. Doordash's agreement is to have the food ready before we arrive. If I do end up finishing the delivery I report the restaurant. I then go to google and leave a 1 star review. I know this sounds like a lot but it does work. Delivery makes up 25% of most restaurants business. When corporate or the owner finds out their employees are messing up their google rating they will take action. I also speak to the manager about pick up times. Most do not even know they control the pick up times or how to change it. I have turned around many restaurants in my area by doing this.
@MadameBraynDamaj

good idea! I get Panda Express orders all the time and they take about 15 MINUTES!!! Their food as almost all precooked and sitting there. I am going to take your advice and do something about it. It really ruins my day because my area is big and lots of orders are 10 to 20 minutes away. So one order for an HOUR is $9 not to mention gas is $5 a gallon. So 9 - $4.00 to $5 is NOT cutting it. DD is really getting on my last nerve with the pay. They need to make people tip a certain amount if they are FAR away. I use them all the time to get delivery because they are cheap but I always tip good because tip based jobs need tips.

It amazes me how much more effort and risk there is between the different drop off scenarios verses anything you’d be forced to endure at the restaurant.

That's exactly what happens in Royal Palm Beach, FL. My lowest offer ever was 33 cents a mile for 14 miles in RPB. Customers have been taught what it costs to deliver their food, & in RPB it is far less than $1 for paid miles. On a shift in that market, I will be offered 3-5 50 cents a paid mile trips. They make those offers because a lot of someone's are accepting them. I rarely work that market, but sometimes thats where i happen to be to start my day. The RPB market also includes Wellington, which is 7 & 8 figure homes. So occasionally, a $2 mile offer comes in. But it's just unbelievable that DD can employ workers who are not employees for $5 hour. This is why labor exploitation laws are a necessity, because without them, every American would be an independent contractor earning $5 a day.

My take: Don't ever expect a hidden tip on anything less than $6.00 (your market may vary.) If you think there may be a cash tip, keep in mind these are extremely rare. Think twice about a good order going to the boonies (where there are no restaurants). If you're in the middle of your shift, keep in mind you will have dead miles (when you're not getting orders) most of the way back to civilization.

I usually do cash tips. On some occasions I will tip later through the app. I've had my food delivered cold or items were missing. Tips are based on quality of service, not because you are performing the service. If you're in it for the tips, you're in the wrong industry. Before you balk, I am in an industry where tips are appreciated, but not necessary. I don't do it for the pay.
@gearsofwar3xXx
@gearsofwar3xXx Год назад
@@deebroussard6072 1. When food is cold, unless the driver stopped somewhere other than another delivery on the same platform, its not their fault. Know how many restaurants I've seen place the finished order on a shelf with no heat? Lots of times. 2. Missing items are always the restaurants fault unless the driver forgot a bag, which is rare because they are supposed to be all together. 3. Tips are a bid for service. You are making an offer to a independent contractor (not an employee) to deliver your food using their gas and wear on their car, and their time. If you are having issues with your experience, I strongly suggest you stop using the platform. The drivers are performing a service for you. No worries, I'll wait for the inevitable "if you don't like your pay, get a different job" argument. No tip orders sit. And sit. And sit longer. Your choice.

My food was on my neighbors front doorstep. In the snow. The drink was missing. "Missing items are on the restaurant", nah, it's also on you to double check the order receipt and make sure you have all the items before leaving for delivery. If you show up, and don't have my shit, and say "Not my fault" I say, "It's okay, I get no drink, you get no tip." If tips are a "bid for service", then y'all need to come back to reality and realize your service isn't worth the $10 tip you're demanding on a $15 order, especially when you give $2 worth of effort. Instead of demanding the customer subsidize your paycheck, how about you demand that your EMPLOYER pays you fairly for your time and fuel expenses? No way that I'm ordering a $10 meal from Wendy's, only to end up paying $30 with DoorDashes fees, and then you show up and expect a $10 tip.

@@MadameBraynDamaj Think of it this way. The Federal mileage reimbursement rate is something like $ 0.55 per mile. If you work for any corporation and use your car for their business, they are supposed to reimburse you for about that. The Federal gov seems to think that is a fair rate that should cover gas, insurance, and maintenance on your car. So if you are averaging about $16/hour dashing. If you subtract out that $.055/ mile, you're only making about $10/hour. This is pathetic. Who can survive on $10/hour in this economy? What about health insurance? What about saving money for retirement? What about just paying the freakin' electric bill? What about the risks you take by being on the road all day? It just doesn't pencil out! I had two orders last week with hidden tips. That was great, but what about DD lowering the base pay for both of them. They paid out $2.75 base for the catering orders with a 10 mile trips! Later I had a small order, only 2 miles, the same $2.75 base pay. That really sucks. Update: Two months later, the base pay in my area is down to $2.00. It’s getting worse. If I have to drive over 20 miles it’s sometimes $2.75. If it goes below $2.00 I’m done!

I did a dry run picking up my own Wendy's order. They locked the inside and wouldn't let me cut the drive through line on my ebike even though the food was ready and people in line were ordering food. The food was freezing and they wouldn't remake it so I cancelled and waited 20 minutes in the insane heat for nothing.

There is this God forsaken McD's in one zone that I swear, out of all places being closed, there is just orders coming from that. It seems like the same guy is always at the window, and they are dead slow, for like a few items. If I am in the area, and want to avoid a certain store, I make sure to freeze the orders until I am away. I also can't stand that store because, in the early morning door dash isn't accurate with the hours and will allow breakfast orders to be make way before the restaurant will even be ready to make them. I think the McD's should just shut down the DD orders around that time. It sucks only seeing their orders overnight.

Have you ever been attacked by a customer? I almost got into a fight because the delivery address was wrong. I went to the wrong home and I thought the guy would have a little laugh at my error but he was so mad that he threaten to dump the food on my head. I walked away and delivered the food but, to this day, I have no clue why the guy was so mad.

I had one on UberEats when I pulled up the guy stormed out at me like he was gonna try and fight saying "What in the hell took you so long!" I litterally had accepted the order about 10 minutes before that and luckily I take screenshots of every order so I explained to the guy that another driver must have cancelled the delivery and showed him proof that I had just recently accepted his order. Then I apologized for his long wait and he cooled down and ended up increasing the tip later.

I as a customer almost had a fight with my delivery guys. Twice. Once because the guy was doing everything he can not to come up to my apartment unit, and so I confronted him about it when he eventually did and he was like "bro you wanna start something and take this outside, etc". Another time the delivery guy called me to tell me that the 7eleven doesnt have slurpees and so I told him to cancel the order, and he said ok, but then delivers me regular coka cola and so I run out to the parking lot looking for him but couldnt find him, I was going to throw his coke at his car I tip very well, never less than $10 even for super small small orders, always leave 5 starts, etc. My orders are usually from restaurants within 1 mile radius. But when someone tries to fool me like that then I lash out just from principle.

Restaurant to stay away from also is the ones that still keeping their indoor dining area closed even though 98 % of the other businesses in your states has already open up their dining area for dine-in customers to sit down and eat . If you see the cars in drive through line make one full circle around the restaurant building or 1 and 1/2 circle around building, run don't look back because you will be their 30 minutes to 1 hour waiting for your food. I had one restaurant told me , "your 2nd customer's order will be ready in another 5 minutes. 30 minutes later, your order is almost ready just 5 more minutes. 40 minutes later, just 5 more mintues, 50 minutes later. I told them, the customer's and I are ready to cancel the order if its not ready. I didn't get the order until 50 minutes later. I had 2 customers order, custmer #1 finished and handed me the order right away at the window. 2nd customer's order handed me 50 minutes later. Everytime I see their order appear on the screen, I cringe. 5 months later I don't see any of their restaurant's order appear on my screen anymore, I guess non of the customers wanted to order from them.

I didn't know there were still "No indoor eating," restaurants as late as August or September 2022. 🤔🧐😳🤨 Like you said, basically EVERY restaurant in America at least has had dine in service for a long time now. This would have made sense if you said this was August or September 2020, but 2022, I'm surprised there were still "No dine in service," in Restaurants. 🤨😳🧐🤔

I think Doordash should not be hiding tips to begin with, they need some major changes and this has to be one going forward. They also should have a buffer time system based on the restaurant, fast food 5 mins before an order is sent out or 10-15 for a regular restaurant. The company has never made any profit the whole time they have been a company. Its time to change things up.

they're profiting, just not on paper. All of their profits go into marketing, research, and inventing new games to get bad orders fulfilled. And don't forget, CEO pay. Same thing happened with Amazon. For a while, they were not showing profit and people were banking on them to go under. But Jeff was reinvesting profits under marketing and concentration and using those investments as tax write offs. These guys want to claim they aren't profitable as an excuse to get out of paying the drivers better and to continue to reduce our pay
