A 4-position lock allows the wheel to rotate while keeping the caster swivel assembly rigid. By locking into one of four notches, placed at 90 degree intervals on the raceway, the caster travels easily in a linear motion. The locking mechanism can be employed by either a manually pulled ring device or optional foot activated switch. A 4-position lock is one of several means to obtain a locking caster.
