On 28 September in 1971 the IRA or their associates hijacked & robbed 4 post office vans, stole mail, burnt or tried to destroy the vehicles which were travelling from Newry to Crossmaglen, near the border at Silverbridge, South Armagh, Northern Ireland. An area which got the name "bandit country"
