You have a beautiful home and it’s clear that you have a very clear vision of how the entire space flows. I really like how you have outfitted the connected room with the PAX system to create a luxurious walk in wardrobe feel. I also like the distinctive look of the bar counter of your peninsula - is that real wood or laminate? If the former, did you also customize it from Taobao?

The overall difference is that you just have to know very well the directions and theme that you are going for, as they will not be giving you much suggestions. So, definitely have to do alot of research on your own!

Hello! Thanks for the kind comments! :) The wardrobe and study space is the size of one bedroom but there was an additional partition built in between by the ex owners so we left it that way.

Would like to know more about searching for a contractor! How did you go about doing it, and also did you have to provide drawings/measurements since there are no IDs?

Hello, usually there is a "standard" measurements if you don't have any special requirements. You can decide whether you want cupboards or drawers and they will be able to give you some standard drawings usually.

I'm from sg too, may I ask when you shop on tb, can we shop both on tmall and normal tb stores? Which forwarder did you use? Cos I'm planning to get the same sink you bought and a bit worried about the shipping risk. Many questions here but I couldn't find answers elsewhere /: thank you in advance!

Hello, thanks! My induction hob is from Mayer, and its so far so good. Best part is that it's sooo easy to clean, as compared to a stove hob

I would say the biggest disadvantage is that you are losing space by overlaying the tiles, but it’s definitely a cheaper option esp if your current tiles are still in good condition

Hi i love shopping for small items from Taobao as well but have never really indulge on the furniture ever since I was charged S$700ish for the shipment of one office chair. Am wondering if there’s a better way to go about dealing with the shipment of furnitures. Are we able to just rent a container or sort n can freely fill it up? Or how did you manage to arrange here? Please share some tips. Thanks in advance!

Did you use airfreight for that? Airfreight charges by volume weight, so for bulky stuff it’s definitely not worth it. I used a third party forwarder (Eklink) for all my furniture shipments. It’s more affordable as they charge by per CBM. you can check out their website/fb page for more info

Hi, thanks for sharing your home! Was wondering what was the length for the wooden shelves that you got for the kitchen? And did you need to do any reinforcement to them so that they can hold the weight of your items? Thanks!

It’s 160cm, and no special reinforcements. The seller did mention the max weight it’s able to handle, and I don’t put very heavy stuff on it. Hope this helps!

Hi! Did your broken table top come wooden crated and well protected? Im still tempted to buy from taobao but not sure if its cause it wasnt protected enough that it broke. Thinking if we can request the seller to add additional protection

Yes it did. Already 打木架 + 大木箱 but still broke. I think the material is just too fragile and the seller did warn me also. But I butt itchy 😅😅

The appliances came with the China power plug heads and I use an adapter for those appliances. You can change the head on your own (there are some tutorial videos available), I’m just too lazy 😅

You’ll need a lighting point on the wall behind the mirror! For the curtain track i bought from the official shop on taobao. Is yours rejected due to over length? I used a 3pf (Eklink) for shipping for all the bulky furnitures. They don’t have such restrictions.

Hi Maggie, Maybe you can do a video on your experience with the Consolidation Shipper for your TB purchases, especially that you have received a broken table top. Are you able to share 1) cost for the shipping, I understand that most shipper charge by m3 or weight, whichever is higher in most cases? 2) custom duties and how to settle them? For the shipper that you have engaged, I saw a $50 permit cost listed on their website, is that suppose to cover the custom duties? 3) did they transport your goods to your home address? Thanks for sharing your reno experience, 25K to include furnishings is a real deal!

Hello there. I used 3pf Eklink for all my bulky item shipping. You can see their rates on their fb page/website. Yes, it will be delivered to your doorstep. Oh and $25k is for Reno alone, doesn’t include appliances and furnitures! :)

If you choose sea shipping, they usually charge by per CBM, which is much more affordable than air shipping! I think i spent 1k+ on shipping

I shipped all taobao purchases via a 3pf - EKLink. You can either get the seller to do extra protection (打木架) for you for fragile items, if not you can request the 3PF to help too, at additional charges.
