4^2 + 2 x 4 x sqrt12 + (sqrt12)^2 = 16 + 8 sqrt12 +12 = 28 + 8x sqrt4 x sqrt3 = 28 + 16 sqrt3 Answer D I did this in my head.

Always take a guess.....unless guessing, and getting it WRONG, will hurt you such as on college entrance exams. Important to make that clarification.

Under PEMDAS should you simplify the sqrt of 12 first giving (4+2sqrt3)^2 Doesn't make any difference, but............

eine leichte Aufgabe, die aber gut geeignet ist, um zu zeigen, dass man sich ein Ergebnis auch logisch herleiten kann, ohne das präzise Ergebnis genau zu kennen, was aber schnell ausgerechnet ist und auf 54,76 bei mir ausgeht, weshalb sofort gesehen wird, dass nur Antwort d ) 28 + 16 mal Wurzel aus 3 richtig sein kann... ...wie folgt kann vorgegangen werden, so man Wurzeln nicht im Kopf rechnen kann: Das Ergebnis muss größer 49 aber kleiner 64 sein ( ...Wurzel aus 12 liegt ja sicher zwischen 3 und 4... ), sodann kann man a) und b) ausschließen, weil a) bei circa 2 liegen muss und b ein Bruchteil von eins ist, der ja sicher kleiner als 0,75 sein muss. Antwort c kann es aber auch nicht sein, denn die Wurzel aus 6 liegt zwischen 2 und 3 und damit das Ergebnis von c sicher über 96. Bleibt nur Antwort d) und weil die Wurzel ja sicher nicht über 2 liegen kann, dann aber 60 als Ergebnis aus dem Term entstünde, kann nur Antwort d richtig sein. Das Ergebnis ist übrigens 55,2 ausgerechnet und abgerundet identisch mit 54,76 aufgerundet. Le p'tit Daniel,...war bei mir eine 10-Sekunden-Aufgabe, die als Format sicher gut für < Wer wird Millionär > ist, indem man sich so schon mal in Abhängigkeit der pekuniären Wertigkeit der Frage einen gewissen Vorrat an Burgern zulegen kann.

This is not that difficult also. Any average 8th or 9th grader in countries like India,Japan or any other country could easily get it correct. But,some may also commit errors while doing hurriedly.

Why not the answer: 28? The square of a root is the number, 12, which has been "rooted". The square of 4 is 16. Thus, 12 plus 16 is 28. Your counter?
