Lovin’ that you use Logic Pro for your fantastic vids. I am learning so much from these, the most concise videos on audio processing topics I’ve seen. Please don’t stop making these!
Hey Ion! I see what you mean by potential phase issues (especially if a delay-based stereo image is used) but I'm not I know what you mean by stepping. Thanks for watching! SageAudio.com
I agree, great channel! My comment to this mastering chain...how to finish it, the last instance. Your last one is ProQ3, but instead of that it can be also a good multiband limiter...and they are still penultimate of the chain. Wintergreetings from Austria
Hey Luke! Thanks for watching! Great to hear that you're liking the channel. You're right! A good multiband limiter would work well here! SageAudio.com
Hey Yu Sun! Thanks for checking this one out - We've done a few videos on this topic so definitely check out our channel if you need some info on this. SageAudio.com
Fantastic tips! When you were expanding the low end, were you isolating the kick to drive the expansion and be expanded, but keeping it from expanding the bass guitar too much? That's how I understood it, and that's what I thought I was hearing, but I wasn't sure--
Hey Synaptic Schism! No worries - thanks for commenting! It's somewhat similar - it looks like MaxxBass uses upward compression and filtering to isolate harmonics and then amplify them. With Lovend, I'm not exactly sure how it isolates and amplifies harmonics. It's most likely similar but not identical. SageAudio.com
On Step one you mention how importan is to make all the subs Mono, but what about Metal? Low-end in guitars is very important and the rhythm ones are always hard panned.
Hey heavymetalmixer - thanks for watching this one! It's best to use your discretion and keep genre in mind. This sounds like how classical music can get away with bass panned to one side or another. So I'd say do what's best for the particular mix/master that you're working on, while keeping what's acceptable for the genre in mind. SageAudio.com
Great great content! I'll be binging. Just a suggestion, I would have loved to hear the effect chain without the added volume, so I don't get tricked by hearing extra volume.
Hey Kris! Thanks for watching! If expansion doesn't hep your master definitely leave it out - but in case it can help, its shown here. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! SageAudio.com
