Since doing the update to version 4.3 the R10 has done amazingly well and I feel is aligned with my real life numbers. For $600 you just cannot go wrong.
@@GolfersAuthority About 2 months now. I just got the Spornia net system and it is amazing. I mounted a 55" TV to the wall just in front of my swing area and this works really well. Plus I did some new flooring in my home and had a large 8'X10' piece of green carpet I put under the hitting net. Everything is now softened and the balls return straight out of the net back onto my Motivo hitting mat. I'm really enjoying hitting a few hundred balls three times a week especially since we are in snow country!
@@connorjamerson I use it as a practice tool. It gives tremendous data. It has games, courses etc.. I don't use them per se. It has a "target shot" feature for hitting shots from say 30 yards to 200, over bunkers, water etc... very fun. Try it for a few months. You won't regret it.
Someone commented on the accuracy of the 50k sim. When using your driver, the 50k one showed distances of >280 yds with club speed of 20 yds with a spin around 2500 whereas the garmin R10 had a roll of only 10 yds, I think the R10's result was more plausible. I'd say repeat the test with a better simulator as a baseline. Maybe the sim you used was not calibrated or not set up well as often occurs in a lot of commercial simulator rooms.
@@GolfersAuthority I do not have one. Am currently on the market and have been leaning towards the MEVO+, but I enjoy watching these review videos as they offer lots of different insights in the golf sim industry. I do believe the R10 is the best option for its price range, Respect!
I have the Mevo+ and will be releasing a video soon on it. It is legit however the downside is that it $2,000. I think for entry level you have a few options. Rapsodo is good and the Garmin R10 good too. There is also the Swing Caddie SC300i. It is more of the dark horse, it is super accurate indoors and outdoors. However the app is not the best.
At 4:56 in this video when he hits his driver, his 50K simulator shows a smash factor of 1.99. This is utterly impossible, meaning the garmin r10 may not be so bad. I have the garmin r10 and have hit it alongside a trackman. The R10 measures club speed, ball speed, launch angle, and launch direction. It calculates everything else based on those 4 parameters. When I use my machine, I use it predominantly outside at a driving range. My spin is always a bit off, (especially with range balls) but the carry distance is normally pretty spot on. In my opinion, the only simulator that is meant to gather correct data inside is the GC Quad. Even trackman was created to be used outside.
Thanks for the video. My R10 will be here this week and I'll be using this info and downloading the awesome golf app. I've watched several videos and it seems that correct setup is crucial, from a level unit at the correct height and distances from the tee to the R10. That said, I have yet to see one RU-vid video that shows anyone using a tape measure to get an accurate distance to the tee. Everyone is pacing it out.
I like my r10 and for the money its unreal. I can tell though it doesnt pick up my slice very well. Ill go to the range or go play and I have to tweak my swing a bit to go straight. Still fun as hell
The 50k simulator gave you 1.99 smash and then 1.66 smash. Tour average is 1.5 and they’re hitting the center of the face. The garmin was reporting 1.4-1.5 smash factor. The indoor 50k sim was way off!
That's so funny - Drivers are even limited to 1.5 smash - so maximum smash is always a little below 1.5 (1.48 or so) - otherwise driver face would be illegal :)
That’s spot on! The club head speed was 90mph with 150 mph ball speed. The carry, launch angle, spin and ball speed are the only numbers that should be looked at….
The distances look pretty accurate, but the spin rates appear to be wayyyy off. Can you compare club face angles and face to path? These numbers are really want I want to use the R10 for
I use the r10 and the e6 software. It runs through my ipad to my tv. I personally think and im not a pro at all but my neighbors and i play all the time on the course. And in the winter we olay in the garage with the r10 and the numbers are almost identical. I have had lessons and been on the expensive trackman indoor and had the r10 right behind and the numbers were also almost identical. For the price id say all day r10 for the win. Maybe a pro wouldn’t be happy but for me trying to get better honestly whats a 5 yard variance 🤣🤣. Great video
That is awesome! You really can't beat the R10. I think my quest now is to find the right set up and settings that gives the most accurate numbers. How long have you had the R10
With the awesome golf app, do you still get to see ball trajectory? Distances are obviously good to dial in but I wanna see if I’m hitting the ball on the line I want
What screen are you using? What is the size? Where can I get one, I love that curved look. Do you need a specific projector for it? How much are they? Sorry for the off-topic questions.
This is a professional simulator that I am using. My friends let me use there’s to test out clubs and tech. It’s all custom. It’s so nice. What are you using for your r10
@@GolfersAuthority In my garage, hitting into a net. I have a 4k 53" TV mounted on the wall. I was looking into impact screens and like the curved one you hit into. Anyway you can find out where it was from?
I tried doing the elevation settings when using just the Garmin App and did see a little improvement. But when I used awesome golf golf I had the default settings for this video. Have you tried the elevation setting if so what have you seen?
@@GolfersAuthority Yes, I’ve found that adding some elevation for the driver and fairway woods seems to give better accuracy, but my experimentation is with the Garmin Golf app only.
That is a great question. Outdoors I have had even better success than indoors. Indoor with the driver was my biggest pain point. I am in the process of doing another video hitting into a net at the house, as well as taking it out to the range. What have you seen with the R10?
I don't have experience with the R10 to share. I continue to try to decide where best to spend my money. I am a fan of Garmin products and spend almost all of my practice time outdoors. There are just so many choices.
Outside they seem to work better than indoors. Not hitting into a net allows the radar to pick up more ball flight and provide more accurate data. It's harder to make sure your R10 is set up correctly outdoor (level, right distance, etc.), but if it is, I've found it to be even more accurate than it is in an indoor setting.
Just curious, if you ever tried it back with the Garman software with the driver? I know you said it was inaccurate, but I didn’t know if you could make adjustments to get it within range of awesome golf.? Thanks.
@@GolfersAuthority i’ve heard you can change the elevation to get a little more distance out of your driver in the Garman app. Maybe you could play around with that. Run awesome golf and Garmin at the same time on the same shot. I’ve heard you can do this, but I haven’t done it yet, and then just change the elevation so that Garmin numbers mirror Awesome golf on the driver, but the downside of this would be I assume you have to bring elevation back down for the irons or remember to.
I built my sim screen in the garage. I bought the r10. Once all was ready to play with my 500 dollar mat and 500 dollar screen. I super excited to hit my first shot. I hit my wedge. First shot showed 60 carry. My average carry on course is 95 yds. Swinging harder gave similar results. So I went through all the steps again to ensure the device was set up correctly . It was. So a call to GARMIN to find any advice to help. They were great by the way. Turns out I have a large metal toolbox and a metal storage cabinet near the hitting screen on the side wall. Turns out unbeknownst to me this interferes with the r10 radar signal. So I’m stuck with it. Cause I didn’t do my homework well enough. Maybe this will help others to double check the surroundings before building their sim where there is unmovable metal objects.
@@GolfersAuthority Thanks for asking.🙂 Most likely I’ll sell the r10 and buy a unit that can operate in my environment. I’m sure there is one out there. It’s all about cost and what one can afford. I’m starting with the new Mevo. I can save enough to afford that in 5 or 6 months.
1st want to thank you for the video. I've owned an r10 for over a year and use it frequently, but outside into a net. I wrote down all the info for each shot. The 7i shots CS/BS/CARRY we're all relatively close. Launch and spin we're way off. 9i carry and spin were close but CS/BS/LA we're all off. Driver was actually bad. Only the carry was anywhere close. CS/BS/LA/SPIN were all WAY off. I don't want to put all that on the r10 tho because the high dollar unit was obviously giving bad info. No one has smash of 1.99 or 1.66 for driver since 1.5 is considered perfect. My suggestion for anyone that owns one and uses it indoors or into a net would be take it to a range, preferably a trackman range if you have access and get your club #s. Then take it home and compare. The r10 is known to be more accurate outside. Then you can use the gamin app elevation and weather sliders to get as close as you can to your outside #s. I love mine even tho I know it's not perfect. It can be a great learning tool and sim golf in the backyard or inside is a lot of fun. Good luck everyone.
OK....good comparison. Two points 1. The assumption is that the more expensive is the more accurate. It could be that the R10 is getting it right. 2. The TRUE comparison is to reality. Tested outside to a range that has accurate yardage points. That would be interesting and the final input.
Thank you for the video. I’ve tried a variety of things but my distances are still off with the Garmin app. I typically hit my 5 iron 180 and I get ranges from 130 to 150. My sim is indoor and I’m 9 feet from my net and 8 ft from the R10. I calibrate before each session too. Any suggestions?
I don't think so. I have tried the metal dots, that really does not work. The only thing that has helped interms of metal is buuying the RCT golf balls. Where do you use your R10 usually
I think the $50k sim has serious issues. How do you get a 288 yard drive with 80.1 mph club speed? And a 1.99 smash? Yikes, I'd be looking for a large refund. I have to believe your club speed is more accurate in the r10 and I bet the smash factor was closer to 1.5. I've been using the r10 for a few months now and I couldn't be more pleased considering the money I spent vs what I could've spent. Additionally, I don't believe any launch monitor will be able to provide pin point accurate distance measurements. However, If you use them as a tool for baseline comparisons they'll help our games considerably. Thanks for your video.
In terms of accuracy I have done a video putting them head to head. While they cost the same they have different features. For example Rapsodo has coach connect, while the R-0 can be used as a simulator. I love the R10. What do you have?
I've noticed that Home Tee Hero gives me a constant slice when using it indoors. I haven't had a chance to test outdoors as the snow has not melted this season yet! Awesome Golf and E6 both treat my shots nearly the same so... I suspect that the HTH is the culprit and not my golf swing?!?
@@GolfersAuthority I have had my R 10 now for about six months. I’ve updated to the most recent firmware. It seems a hit and miss proposition with it. Played HTH yesterday and it acted normal. Frustrating at best.
Is it possible the unit needs to be raised the same height as the tee since the driver needs a tee? Or would a calibration before using driver fix that?
Raised to match the level of the mat (meaning the feet of the R10 should be as if it was sitting on top of the mat). Plus changing your weather conditions and elevation bring in that 10 yard or so deviation to match most multiple thousand dollar units
@@GolfersAuthority yea I just got it and use it outdoor into a net. Distances are short but just got a leveler that hopefully helps. At the driving range it was accurate until I used a tee for the driver.
@@chrisimes478 what weather conditions do you use? Does it affect distances on the irons and woods too? I don’t want it to be calculating longer distances, just want it to be accurate
@@jerodwarney3055 If you raise the conditions up and the elevation it closes the distance when you see them coming up short. Something about raising elevation and those conditions makes the ball go further in the software algorithms, so in turn if you Know For A Fact say your drives all falling 10/15 yards from what you see on range or on crazy expensive sims, increasing these numbers just sends the result out further to match the numbers you know you are achieving is all. This is ONLY if you know what your true numbers are and this can help to match them.
Curious why you didn't try the E6 software as well since that what the sim is using - could be interesting. E6 is also free for 5 basic courses and the range on the R10.
Cool video & Zero knock against you. My experience is the people with all the gadgets on the driving range are Ranger Ricks competing for Driving Range trophies where you beat the brakes off their Azz on the track. 🤣 🤣 Sunday 8-6-23 guy on the range was using the "Voice Caddie Sc300i" where he had all the buzz & had the range like wow. I was noticing his alignment saying yeah but are you trying to hit it there to myself? Sure as 💩 I got paired with his azz & my old rusty golf playing azz that crappie fishes more than plays golf now shot 79 & that Sum Batch named Roger playing Woodbridge Golf Course shot a 87 taking bad drops & should be a spokesman for 3 Putt Golf. 😆😄🤣 I enjoyed dragging his azz. No gadgets on the planet can replace actually doing and playing time for any sport or activity. Only actually doing it does that. Best to you all. My next target is a R-10 user that is on the range that hits the ball vs has a Golf Swing. The "Golf Swing" people can play and have single to low digits. Don't be afraid to challenge anyone that hits the golf ball. They will normally be Double Digit to Bogie Golfers. 👍 Beat da Break Off Their Tailbones.. 🤣
Unfortunately accuracy is not only distance. It’s dispersion or left to right. The Garmin R10 is not good at dispersion. No where near ‘100% accurate’…..
Your 50k sim says you have 90 mph club speed and hit it 280 when I am ranked 3 in the state for my age division have 1800 rpm 92 mph club speed and hit it 250 your sim isn’t accurate the garmin is
