Finally. Someone helped me stop slicing. I am thrilled. Clay is certainly one of the best...if not the best instructor on RU-vid. I plan to watch every lesson
He is the best teacher on RU-vid right now. He really helped me for sure, like one range session fixes . The techniques, and understand how to trick the body into making it do what you want it to do. Thank you
So I watched this video twice-practiced in my net a couple days and took it to the range. Holy crap… this is THE BEST slice fix in all of golf. You understand HOW to do it. It’s nuts! Thanks clay!
Watched this video 4 times. Followed Clay's instruction using the interleaving process and with practice I've eliminated my slice and can now hit a consistent draw. I also just signed on to an annual subscription. I really think Clay Ballard's an amazing instructor. Most effective golf video I've ever watched. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of the slice and develop a draw. Looking forward to watching all of his videos.
It works! 5 years of playing a slice including leaving the driver at home and driving with a 3 wood. Today my fellow slicer/fader went to the driving range today. We shared in hitting 2 large buckets of balls. We both hit more draws each then the entire time we have practiced and played together. We are taking today’s practice and hopefully take this to the golf course. Thanks
You’re literally the best instructor with the best advice for new golfers. I have so many friends I play with that think they know everything and the advice they give just leaves you feeling hopeless. I’m glad they’ve wasted tons of money and time to become mediocre at best and all I have to do is follow your drills at home for free.
I’ve never had the lightbulb go on like it does when I watch Clay’s videos. The visuals and the explanations are so good. Can’t wait to get to the range.
I am a beginner at best, and while my ball contact has improved greatly over the last few years, my path and my face control have not. This is the first time ever, that someone was able to explain to me how to do just that effectively. This 100% saved me from giving up on golf. Not kidding. Thank you for the video and even more for not charging three easy payments of something.99 for it. :)
I’m a baseball player-turned-beginner golfer so I am in desperate need for all of your instructional videos, thank you for all of the content that you put out to help people like me!
This is the most helpful golf video I have watched. I went from hitting an almost guaranteed slice off the tee to consistently driving the ball on the (correct) fairway. I actually look like a competent golfer now. Thank you!
I have been struggling with a banana slice for over 40 years, tried everything, nothing worked until this video. Its like magic. If you still have a slice you want to correct, you must try this.
Hi Clay, today I got lesson based on this video with my golf coach. You are absolutely right, in less than 1 hour I fixed 90% of my slicing. Thank you Clay.
OMG, seriously and honestly, I have been struggling with my slice for so long, i had lessons from the pros, i watched tons of lesson videos, but they all didn't help. I watched this clip yesterday, and went to the range, and did the drills on this clip and.... baam!!! I really don't know how to thank Clay. You are THE BEST!!!!!! I almost cried and screamed out in joy!!!!!
Excellent. Simple, and no fancy verbosity. I've been teaching surfing for over 30 years and I can say without hesitation that the difference between a great teacher and a good teacher, is their ability to convey their lesson in easy to understand language that translates to the physical action that improves the student's skill set. You make it easy ~instead of the F-16 overload that most instructors feel they have to dish out in order to "impress" their students. Less is more...in all sports. You've helped me understand my problems and for that I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Really look forward to trying this I'm new to golf this year and have a handicap of 25c all because my terrible slice with my driving my short game and putting is pity good but lose most strokes due to my bad slice.
Tried this today and hit 4 high draws! Most were low but still drawing and some hooking with only one or two fades/slices. You won't find a better instructional video than this!
This video explains it so well. Provides the tool to make adjustments to the swing. Practice hooks to correct slice and vice versa. Brilliant! Thank you !
Great video great camera work. I can hit all three shots. Cut or fade, draw, and straight. But I was inconsistent. I was manipulating the club face with my hands but was told for years to keep quiet hands. Your video help me to feel good about rotating my hands and understand swing plane with hand manipulation. Inside out knuckles up. Outside in bowed wrists or palms up .
Clay Ballard and top speed golf for the win. I’ve seen and tried a lot of things with mixed results. This is great. Motor learning science + expert coaching
i have watched lots of anti slice videos, but this is the holy grail. having an awareness of open or closed face on backswing has really helped me hit straighter and only 1 range session and 1 round in. thanks so much, looking for to working on this more :)
@@TopSpeedGolf Just started playing again after 25 years and after practicing the drills I can already feel more solid contact and see further distance with my irons. Was not even able to hit the driver at all until I started to follow you. Cannot thank you enough.
I'm a handicap 28 Cgrader over the next few weeks I am going to implement this lesson into my practice on the range and hopefully sort out mt slice I will keep you posted
Wow. These are tips I've never heard before. Knew golf is a game of feel and muscle memory. I can always feel the face direction on my irons down to 5. I know this will help. Thanks!
This is by far the best tutorial I have ever experienced. Did all the drills yesterday on an unlimited balls driving range hour . Played today and only blocked 2 drives (no slice).. In one day nothing short of miraculous. Down the range later this week to work on it all again. Thank you so much Clay.
I’ve tried so many instructional videos to correct my over the top swing - this is the first one that actually worked. It’s not that the others were that bad, but this one explains it in such great detail. And the drills are amazing! Thank you so much!
Just watched the video and tried it out. The cool thing is that we have snow on the ground, not much maybe an 1". I tried swinging "my way" and then the correct way. Swinging "my way" in the snow I can clearly see the path of the club head, over the top angling from my right toe heading to my left heel. Using your lesson while swinging in the snow, I can clearly see (instant feedback) the path you are talking about. So if you got snow...go try it out.
Hi Russell, thanks for sharing. That's a great tip even though I wouldn't be caught dead swinging a club in the snow :-). Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Hey Clay! I have to say something here. This video that you made is INCREDIBLE!!!!! just like you said I followed this video to a T and I completely fixed my slice!!!!! For years I was struggling and finally you provided this video. I never thought swinging inside out would work but hallelujah! I actually understood what you were saying and put what you said into action! After this I hit absolute nukes! You are the best and I cannot thank you enough!! This took 1 hour to fix and I cannot believe it!!!
Thanks Clay! Over the first half of 2021 I started only watching your videos as education and no others. I was consistently shooting 100 to 110 every outing. Bad I know! Well I broke 90 last week! Shot an 87 and its bc of these videos! It wasn't just luck, went out earlier today (Labor Day).... Ready 86! Thank you so much!! Sincerely, Eric
Hi Clay, I've been watching your videos on and off for years and I've watched your progress and success (Congrats!). This may be your best video to date - and has helped me the most. Thank you for sharing your teaching talents and style. I watched this video last night and had already planned to go to the driving range today. I had previously managed to change my driver slice into a slight fade. My challenge was hitting a dependable draw; never could do it until today. I applied your teachings and advice today and just wanted to say -- Thanks! I hit numerous extreme shots, alternating from intentional hooks and slices. I almost used the entire bucket of range balls. Then switched to draw, straight and fade shots - draw, straight fade repeatedly. Thanks to someone leaving half of a bucket off balls on the practice tee - I completed this literally dozens of times on demand. As you suggested, I found that if I swung three practice draw swings turning over the clubface at the end of my swing - my draws for the first time were beautiful and dependable on demand. THANK YOU! It also has helped me to keep my intentional fade a FADE and not a slice! I can't wait to take these new skills to the golf course tomorrow.
Thank you for this video!!! I am like many former baseball players who love golf. I've never had good equipment, the best balls, none of that and i'm a pretty big tall dude who carries around 290-310 usually. But even just the slightest mistake and I'm like wayyyyyyyyyyyy off the fairway. I'm going to hit the range today and try this. Been a few years since I really let my swing be free instead of just 3/4 swings to hit it straighter and more controlled. I'm pumped!!! Thank you so much.
Clay, This breakdown is brilliant. Well done and a good drill to develop more self awareness. We often hear -- you are swinging out to in, too steep, club face open...and while the observations from our buddies is probably correct, we can't feel what we are doing wrong. Your 4 step process brings that self awareness to players on the range. Just waiting for our range to open, but I will try it on the course after 6:30 PM so I do not interrupt anyone. Thank you for the contribution.
Your lesson perfectly articulates how to get "that perfect control feel". Today I hit the longest perfect draw ever, in a left to right wind, to the center of the fairway, from the furthest back tee today on a hole I normally end up slicing into a right side bunker. Best lesson I've ever seen. Thanks Clay for changing my swing for the better forever!
Thanks Clay, you are the best analyst and coach out there. I'm not slicing at the moment so I'll leave well alone. The slice seems to have gone when I came in low and a little from the inside which is in line with what you are saying. I want to thank you really for your other tip when you advised to stay connected by holding the upper right arm against the body a bit more.
Actually you helped me learn intentional hook and the slice and then how to hit it down the middle. Thanks! Can't wait to get out to the driving range and practice all three.
Clay, I've been watching your stuff for years. I'm a basketball skills trainer/coach and pretty crappy golfer who's improving fast thx to you Buddy! Gotta tell ya, this science yir' using to train the brain is somethin' else!!! Woah 💥 THANK U SOO MUCH, U HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH IT HELPS! Stay UP Brother! You are appreciated! Coach Lambert
@@TopSpeedGolf Clay, I gotta add... Since the day you turned me on to "Random/Variable Practice" (which I'm learning is also called Inner-Leaving?)...I have incorporated several of the nuances, and methods into training regimens of my H.S. players. At first, I caught some push-back from adults (parents/ fellow coaches) but the kids loved it from the beginning. Everyone came around (28-0, 2019 MI. State 'Chip didn't hurt) The benefits of sticking w/ it has been quite remarkable! Keep introducing the world to these teachings, Kinda cool how we "unleash our inner athletes", no matter the sport or circumstance. Kudos for reminding us often of how things are connected. Symbiosis Brother! Clay you are helpful, wise, and poised well beyond yir' years Sir! STAY UP! Humbly, Coach JL
Clay . . . you rock! Best instruction videos out there. Watched a few videos a year or so ago that TOTALLY changed my driver swing. Went from a big banana slice traveling about 220 yards, to straight 260+ yards. I still get the occasional snap-hook, or straight push right . . . but when it's on, it's good. thanks Clay!
The use of drills pushing the extremes is huge. Love that you included those. I always put everything into hockey (my game) but this year Im working on my golf game. Love the instruction dude.
Yeah. So. I paid close to $1000 for lessons. And I was ready to give up. But. I watched this video late one night in bed. Said I would try it. I followed the interleave practice to the letter. And in one large basket at the range I already was straighter. After a few buckets and a few weeks following this video. Im confidently driving 230 carry easy. Rolling to 245/255. Easy I’m over the moon. Thank you so much. Only thing I would add that I don’t think you said. But you sort of implied it with the left / right 20 ball drill. Is. Just try to crush them. Don’t swing any harder than 75%. It will help to confidence huge. And consider even. 50-60% backswing as well during this. You can add power later and the ball with explode off the face anyway. The difference from 80/90 percent to 100 is usually nothing for me Vs. When I swing out of my shoes for the extra 5-15 yards carry.
Clay, you state information that people think I am going overboard. I use torque coupling with the hands, in which people do not understand. I played ice hockey into college. Pulling shaft up with the left hip starts the momentum. Hogan & Tiger used this method. One missing link, the right trigger finger needs to be actively relaxed with pressure applied by the right palm & two center fingers. A lot speed can be added by releasing the trigger finger on the right hand which also helps square the face. The built in balance of a club makes it feel even lighter. A lot of conflicting instruction out there, Clay , keep up your style teaching!
Thanks Clay. I was one of those $97 guys (actually $47 on sale) that didn't quite work for me. I have played a fade (and the ever present slice) on my driver for years starting everything down the left. Went out 8-17-2020 and hit 160 balls and came back with a straight to very slight draw drive. The biggest key for me was the 3 tees tip to get my hips out of the way so I could get the I/O swing path. I am well on my way to hitting it straight forever, just wish someone had told me this at 15 instead of 67!
I really enjoy your training videos. I suck at golf personally since I have not had formal instruction. If I may make a suggestion, I’d like to see you shoot one or these videos with a beginner so that you can show real time results. Shots for you are simpler because of your gift and expertise, but having some videos of you physically showing someone how to do it would be great!
Thanks Luis, it's not likely that we'll do a video like that. I would recommend getting a private lesson if that's what you're looking for. The recent video we released on losing your swing would be a great one for beginners too. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Your tips helped me a ton today I now hit the ball three ways off the tee instead of just SLICE after slice A mean fade Nice soft fade Or wickedly left hook Fine tuning needed Thanks
Love the tips... As a new player we don't know what were suppose to fill besides don't miss the ball.. Just the other day someone told me my chin was in the way of my swing... Wanting to keep my eye on the ball... But just lifting my head just a little bit I was able to twist my body and not swaying/ pushing my self away from the ball
I really want to thank you for your videos. I practice at least an hour every evening and usually work in the morning on my chipping in my yard. My chipping is helped me tremendously invite partner love that because I can chip from 50 yards in and get it pretty close to the whole. Also I’ve gone from 58 to a 44. I’ve gone to a slice to a nice either street or maybe draw. Yesterday on a par 33 balls I hit the green with all three balls and on the following part five I was within 30 yards from the green chip, and putted in. Thank you your videos are really helping me. By the way I’m 71 years old and hitting the ball farther the most of the younger players
Where are you based mate ? All your posts are so informative and helpful. Would love the opportunity to visit you for some lessons once this CV shit is done ( I'm in Melbourne, Australia) . My handicap is 3 but watching and listening to many of your posts on YT over this period of the CV lockdown has really helped me understand so much more about my game and its deficiencies. Good luck mate ,
