I’ve been working on this for almost 2 years. My ah-hah moment happened about a month ago when I learned about rib shift in the backswing. When I do it right (I think :)) it feels like my nose stays on the back of the ball, but my right rib cage moves back and up-down the target line. This (for me) puts the required weight over my back foot, and it allows my initial squat move to become so much more powerful. I’ve been trying to couple this with my inhalation at address, I start breathing in for about a second, and then breathe in even more as the club moves to the “top” of the swing. At the top, I feel like my lungs are about 85% full, and begin to forcefully exhale out as the club is coming down and through the ball. Likely a similar breath pattern to what other athletes do in other sports in and through impact. I’ve never seen this talked about anywhere but there’s something there. I want to come out and see Milo in person (I live in town) but I’m learning so much from watching your videos, I feel like I have so much to work on already. You guys are awesome! Unbelievably powerful. Thanks guys!!

Love your approach Milo. If I may: at 2:44, as you reach the bottom of you swing, your right heel is starting to rise. Most noticeable at 2:46. At 3:04, Wyndham Clark's heel is flat on the ground at impact and starts rising _after_ impact. Makes sense: more stable. Wyndham's slomo seems to indicate that his left heel is the centre of the arc of rotation and the right leg is going toward the ball: exterior rotation of the foot shows that. I think...

Really like this explanation. Now I have shorter arms than my height. This type of action seems to work a tad better for higher hand type backswing. Have you found this could work with a little flatter back swing as long as it has the same stretch? I imagine that would produce more of a push draw.

This is so good. Guys, take a facetime lesson with Milo. I literally took two and just shot a 79 and a 74 back-to-back. It's also worth noting that I've watched about 10 hours of his content and it's been all about the body. I saw some other comments here about "too much talking" and "you don't swing a club." I promise you the club is the least of my problems. I know it's been said a million times, but the whole thing literally works its way up from the feet and ends with the hands. Completely counterintuitive, but personally that's what I love about golf. Water right? AIM RIGHT. OB left? AIM LEFT. Cmon. Makes no sense. If you want to hit the ball better with your hands, you have to start with this body move.

hi Milo, from HK across the world here finding your pivot series super helpful. just wondering if you could give tips on where you feel foot pressure is as you "sit down" during the transition. Recalled you said in another vid at the top of the backswing it was approx 80/20 trail/front foot split with pressure in heel for trail foot and big toe for lead foot and wanted to see if feeling the pressure over heels as you "sit down" (bend at hips and knees) is correct. Thanks for the vids!

Great video. Question: I struggle with ball striking consistency from time to time, usually hitting fat shots. I'm really trying to work on the methods you're showing us but with incorporating that squat or dip into the mix how do I train myself to not hit fat shots? My arms are a bit longer than average and this drill creates the feel that I'll hit it even fatter if that makes sense.

Milo, Did you do the hip hinge backside back move in your baseball swing? Is that where you got the movement from?
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 8 месяцев назад
I did it in baseball and have always done it in my golf swing but didn’t know better until I started coaching and saw how many players do the opposite so I’ve worked on and experimented with many ways to help students learn.
@johnhue8933
@johnhue8933 8 месяцев назад
@@MiloLinesGolf Cameron Champ does the hip hinge move at transition as well as anyone , key is bending the knees where the knees are above the laces and not the toes and pushing the backside back , in the correct hip hinge the upper body jack knife downwards as the knees bend and backside goes back, the more you hip hinge the further behind the backside goes the more you bend the knees and the more the upper body bends forward. All those movements are connected in the hip hinge movement. I have worked on this and had to do lots of leg and pivot movements for 6 weeks with combined pump drills before I could do it in the swing and only then at half speed, I found it is not an easy thing to get in because the upper body motions are much more advanced and developed than the lower body motions and have to wait for the legs to catch up.

IMHO, the absolutely safest way to swing a club for your back. I try and keep the handle of the club, the shoulders and the hips parallel from the top through impact. Feel vs. Real. It moves all the rotation as it were to the legs, and takes all the stress off of the back. One key for me is to feel like there is a tennis ball on the back of my left shoulder. In my minds eye, I turn my shoulders in the backswing until the tennis ball is on the back of the golf ball. On the downswing I feel as though that tennis ball is moving down and then back away from the target. That keeps my angles. In my head , the second the tennis ball stops, the hands release…….so I just never stop it :). It takes a bit of timing to match the “handle” of the club, the shoulders and the hips, but it helps to pause at the top of the swing and “collect” the energy you have created before you start the downswing. Back pain is the worst!
@benfarmer6704

I noticed there is no mention of the left leg after the squaring and squatting position pushing into the ground to power the hit. Seems like you recommend the right leg hip and right side of the body powerfuly turing and the left leg only reacting to this powerful move rather than being the main source creating acceleration and power. much talk around that the left leg creates all the power we need. Been trying that method but it seems to stop me from getting to my left leg and completing my weight shift and no power and a outside in swing pattern. What you guys have described with a right side push after the squatting seems way more powerful. Your thoughts on this highly recommend left leg push for power, please in one of your lessons i believe you guys even recommended a left leg push and straighten for power in the downswing. G'Day Milo, I would like to let you know that the World Cup of One Day Cricket is on in India. Australia is playing like garbage, but the games are great and there are dozens of matches left before the quarter and semi finals, which will be brutal. The format for the games is 50 overs per team, this is called "One Day Cricket" the most pure form is Test Cricket (5 days) and the other a very short version called T20, which is 20 overs per match. As a bat and ball man I know you would love it as you once had a batsman playing a shot in your introduction. Please check your guide for LIVE matches (very early in the morning for you) or just watch the replays or highlights when you can. I know you have a young family and need to be working, but I just wanted to let you know that this plethora, this smorgasbord, this Jimmy Buffet of cricket is on. Thanks mate "love ya work."

Can you help me understand where to add the speed when moving like this? I’m a spinner, stuck way under the plane, and it’s because my stupid brain can only make sense of ripping the club from the top as fast as I can. When I try this pelvis drop and hips back thing, I feel like I’m just stuck there and I have no ability whatsoever to add speed. It’s driving me nuts because I can see how your swings and the pros swings look, but I can’t figure out how to actually use it.

Practice using tennis balls instead of golf balls! Practice move in slow motion A few times before you make a full.swing. Practice partial.swings mimicking the impact conditions and hit tennis balls again. Then use golf balls. Once you get good at using tennis balls (so you're less !likely to hit fat) try using lacrosse balls. Be very sure you have strong wrists, forearms,shoulders,etc... Before attempting this and use an old 8 or 9 iron. Eventually your brain will adapt to the new timing .

Just getting deep will not give you power or accuracy. That's a huge fallacy. The key to golf is to focus on the up and down forces and your clubface. Up and down forces will produce the right horizontal and rotational forces. As a golfer, you cannot focus on three forces during your golf swing plus the clubface. Initially, you have to get command of the clubface through your hands, wrists, and arms. Then you can focus on the power of the up and down forces in golf. Bad golfers have very little understanding of the clubface. It's that simple. If you can't hit fades and draws with your hands, wrists, and arms, you will never be able to control the club.
@MiloLinesGolf

Certainly much truth in your comment, but this is just one video I have shared. To say I teach some armless, handless golf swing is also a huge fallacy as you say.
@j.d.7050
@j.d.7050 6 месяцев назад
@@MiloLinesGolf I didn't mean to suggest that, Milo. I'm just emphasizing that the up and down forces often are the keys to getting the right horizontal and rotational forces too. So many golfers focus on the rotational aspect alone and neglect the import of the up and down forces. Your advice about the down force is essential to the transition. A lot of avid golfers and decent player do not get their pelvis and shoulder moving down and around in transition. Your video is very good advice overall, and I much appreciate your insight. Keep up the great work!

I'm not sure what your gripe is here, millions of people, including coaches have referred to (and re-posted) this video and we simply used it as a way to demonstrate the "ole" move where the pelvis spins and thrusts vs flexing and creating space. Pretty confident he would agree it's not what we want our pelvis to be doing, nor thinking of twisting or spinning.

@@MiloLinesGolf no. Golf vids refer to offsides as the head getting ahead of the ball at impact. Core body aligned to an invisible wall while the head stays back. Something like that.
