Also, let yourself have fun. This can be difficult for us beginners, as there's a lot to learn, it's all overwhelming, and when we make anything just for fun it looks like garbage because we don't have the skills yet. However, it's a vital part of art being something which is fun. It is meant to be a way to express yourself, after all, even if badly.
I draw a comic and I want it to be consistent so I can't be free and experiment from page to page. It also makes it so I need to draw very specific poses etc so references are usually off the table as well. I really set myself up for a hard life I guess 😆 taking breaks to see the problems is very true, though. Unfortunately it never ends, if I take a longer break and then come back I will ALWAYS find a new issue to be bothered by. Focusing on the big picture is a good adive. It's how I've been working lately, doing basics (characters, faces, basic clothing) and then going going back in adding details like jewelry, seams etc. It helps me not be overwhelmed by any specific panel or page.
