She's just genetically blessed. My body looked alot like hers all the way up until I turned 52. I've always followed a very clean way of eating, did yoga, ballet dancing and wright training since my 30s.. Then, the hormone switch turned off and all the sudden, blackout. My belly started getting bigger inspite of everything I did. My doctor said eat less, move more but I'm already doing that. My labs are all "normal". I cant get anymore disciplined than I already am. It's a tragedy that alot of us have to accept...this belly...this body that belongs to someone else. I guess I should count my blessings. I'm very healthy. I'm just plump now and very unhappy with my body. There are no real answers. I've tried EVERYTHING. 🙁

Hi Sofi, I followed a low-fat, high carb diet when I was 43, because I was diagnosed with high cholestrol. I lost 8kg, and looked and felt amazing. I kept it off for 5 years and slowly went back to being less vigilant. I am now 55kg and have been doing calorie counting. Which has worked but does take alot of managing. This is a great reminder. I will incorporate this a lot more now. Thankyou❤

Good information - I was happy to hear you include coconut oil as an oil to avoid. I don’t understand the general perception is that it is a healthy oil. A question regarding adrenal fatigue: my understanding is that high intensity training causes further stress on the adrenals and only exacerbates all of its hideous symptoms. I thought we were supposed to walk and do less stressful exercise. How does one deal with chronic adrenal fatigue and high intensity workouts without compounding the problem? Thank you!

Coconut oils are plants, and don’t operate biochemically in the body the same way as animal fats. Coconuts have been used by the Pacific peoples since their beginnings, and they refer to coconut trees as “life.” Everything they eat and drink, other than fish, are coconuts! People who are plant based and include coconuts in their diets don’t have higher cholesterol or body mass. Dr. Gregor, in his infinite research on plants, has never called out any concern for coconuts.
@michellelk8204
@michellelk8204 4 года назад
@@uslee19 Not true. This is just one of many articles from Dr. Greger's site: Coconut oil is one of the rare plant sources of saturated fat, which is normally predominantly found in animal products. The oil is extracted from the meat of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm. Coconut oil is not to be confused with coconut water, which is the fluid inside coconuts. Despite marketing claims to the contrary, coconut oil does not appear to be health-promoting. We’ve known for nearly a half-century, according to leading cardiovascular disease experts, that it is “one of the most potent agents” for elevating the level of cholesterol in the blood. It may even be worse than tallow, or beef fat, but not as bad as butter. Coconut oil appears to increase LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol, which is the top risk factor for heart disease, the number-one killer in the United States. In one clinical trial, subjects were given two tablespoons a day for three months. Their “bad” LDL cholesterol went up a bit, but not significantly. During that time, though, they were placed on a calorie-restricted diet to lose weight. When we lose weight, our LDL should drop naturally. The fact that the “bad” cholesterol level didn’t on the coconut oil suggests an adverse effect. A subsequent randomized, crossover trial found that coconut oil did indeed significantly worsen LDL cholesterol. What’s more, according to the Alzheimer’s Association, scientific evidence is lacking that the edible oil may help with Alzheimer’s disease. A study using a supplement of a concentrated form of the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil, purported to be the active ingredient, did not appear to find any positive effects for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s patients. It may, however, be useful for the treatment of head lice. Standard treatment involves the insecticide permethrin, but alternatives have been sought to avoid subjecting children to insecticides. A recent study found that a nontoxic shampoo, Paramide Plus Coconut Oil Emulsion, was 61 percent effective compared to the 14 percent of children cured with the insecticide treatments.
@uslee19
@uslee19 4 года назад
Kevin & Michelle Kelly Thank you for taking the time to express this. I’ve gone back and reviewed Greger’s posts on coconut oil, and most data is mixed, but seem to link to what you’ve shared...that consuming coconut oil does increase LDL. However, he doesn’t directly state it’s dangerous. I’ve, personally, experimented with MCT oil from coconuts, and indeed noticed it helps with mental clarity and memory. Why, when it’s from coconut oil? I strongly believe there is unknown wisdom in cultural diets. Foods don’t last long within a long existing culture if they don’t hold benefits. Some of the longest living people are Hispanic, and they’ve linked it to high bean diets. The lowest levels of Alzheimer’s is in the East Indian population, and they’ve linked it to daily turmeric consumption. So, there’s wisdom in these practices. I’m not satisfied with the mixed science, and want to understand the relationship of coconut oils and Pacific Islander consumption. Remember, we still don’t understand all aspects of nutritional science. The field is still in its infancy.
@michellelk8204
@michellelk8204 4 года назад
@@uslee19 The data sometimes seems all over the place. The East Indians have excessively high rates of heart disease. Either genetic and/or from saturated fat from ghee?
@uslee19
@uslee19 4 года назад
Kevin & Michelle Kelly I think it’s elements of the modern, processed diet. Some of the cooking oils they now use (palm and canola) are unhealthy. Many people in India no longer use ghee because they think it’s old fashion and expensive. Historically Indians have always had a long lifespan. Did you hear about the 100 year old that ran the marathon a few years back? He swears by yogurt and ghee. So, we just don’t know enough yet.

Good information, thank you, except for your comment that said that some diets will deplete your muscle mass before fat and that is just not how the body works. That is our primary source of stored energy and all bodies utilize fat stores as a protective measure before depleting other, more important, body tissues like muscle.

Looked at evidence-based science on what happens to the body on a ketogenic diet. And interestingly, lean muscle mass DIMINISHES, while visceral fat does not.

@mountainhiker4890
@mountainhiker4890 4 года назад
Sophie answers this same question below that MJR Shek posted. Whole fruit is very good for you and because you eat the whole fruit you get the fiber which blunts the blood sugar spike. If you have concerns about your blood sugar, talk with your doctor, but you might want to go with the lower sugar fruits, like berries and oranges (not fruit juice which has had the fiber removed). All of the well respected whole food plant based docs and the science show that a few servings of whole fruit a day is healthy.
