Always love your videos brother, only thing I'd say for commenting this game is that it's totally fine to call the region by the name you're familiar with. For example, who cares if no one called it "Anatolia" at the time, "Asia" means something different now anyway haha. But literally from beginning to end you got more comfortable! So I'm not worried about you lol, mega campaign will be super fun

the uncolonized provinces arent quite a bug, and theyre also not all uninhabited! if you take a look at those provinces, u’ll see they still have pops, theyre simply not ‘centralized’ enough, thats how that mechanic works logically at least. what ends up happening that makes new uninhabited provinces is that the settlement is raised and loses all its pops because it never had that many pops to start with.

11:35 I think the AI faction there has been razing, pillaging and slaughtering the inhabitants, after occupying a region, that's why if you continuously do this, you will empty the entire region. Only leaving the a pile of ash and bones.

If a person plays as Rome they are more likely to unite Italy first due to the missions. It was kinda shitty to just abandon this game... some modders out there helping it out a bit though.

Funny thing is, I never played Imperator on release. It was after their first attempt to fix the game that I picked it up personally. And it's really wild to read some of those early reviews after it was released. Because people reviewing it sound almost like they've lost their minds ranting about how in a game with abstracted political simplifications there shouldn't be abstracted political values on a level of ranting that I usually only see in video games over the idea of it anything vaguely sexual was included in them in the 1990s. I will say there's a lot about Imperator: Rome that I liked and I'm glad the Invictus mod team picked it up and kept going with the whole idea of providing what PDX might have done with vanilla. Some of it sounds silly... but I always liked the map to the game. Very pleasant curvature of the earth effect to scroll around. It sounds silly, but it's a nice touch to see in a game where you're interacting with a map of a planet all the time compared to a flat board. Aesthetics matter. But a lot of other things were looking good for it. From the military situation which is basically EU4's system, but highly improved, to internal politics in a nation and the dangers of Civil War, Rebellions, and Slave Uprisings. I always felt it was a good game never given a chance after its opening and everyone seemed to collectively lose their minds about it. If you do a mega-campaign with that set up and order? Yeah it's EU4 that is definitely the weak point for me. Though can be pretty interesting in how EU4 can be the point that ancient empires are crippled beyond belief due to the AI's inability to cope with the fact that they might enter the EU4's time frame with like 8000/600 governing capacity. You'll see those powerful empires on Tech Level 4 when you should be at 14 and getting carved apart.

as an invictus dev this made me SO happy to see so much work is going into the game still. things like india which were all but empty in terms of flavor now have so much content for it. this era of history is super underrated, it’s very much not just rome and carthage, you have narratives still going on since the bronze age, and many narratives from the iron age. this vid made me sub

Fun fact! Boi is actually where the name Bohemia comes from. Basically that tribe was pushed out of Italy by the Romans, and the land they ended up in was dubbed "Boio Haemum" or "Home of the Boii", which the name "Bohemia" stems from.

If you like history, you should take a look at the history of the Diadochi (the successors of Alexander the Great). Their story is really interesting and full of twists and turns, betrayal and assassination!

Please do a play-through of the Imperator Invictus mod. It fixes a lot of issues in the base game and adds a ton of content.

Imperator might become another Victoria 2, the community might make the game what paradox couldn’t or wouldn’t,ake it into.

The uncolonized provinces, except for the ones that exist at game start, happen when a province with low pops gets sieged and the few pops living there die. When the pop reaches 0 it becomes uncolonized. It can easily be recolonized if you have enough pop in a neighboring province.

Where imperator was left, is what should have been released. Its replayability was crippled at the start as it all felt the same.

I actually still like this game as a 'once a month scratch the itch' deal. The main problem with Imperator wasn't the civil wars imo, it was just that it was diet Victoria 2 (in fact I'd say that Victoria 3 has the exact same pitfalls as this game but unlike this game they're trying to fix it instead of abandoning it)

Man Imperator was great. The most effort I put into it was getting the REDNAXELA achievement which meant overcoming the Maurya and reaching macedon 😂

you should mention that you play on imperator invictus mod, base game is so muuuch poor in content without this mod

Its a much better game after the last DLC, hopefully they come back to it at some point. Only thing i disliked was the civil wars.

some context on the mauryans, theyre an incredible part if indian history. from small states in the hyper centralized and populated ganges river valley they conquered (in multiple forms) most of india. chandragupta maurya died from fasting (honorable death in jainist tradition), his son bindhusara was likely ajivika faith instead but would commit suicide also by starvation yupon yhe death of his son, and ashoka the great would be a huge influence on early buddhism in india. its hard to enjoy ai onlies sometimes if you dont have much understanding of certain regions, and my breif summary does not too much to help but i hope this helps some ppl enjoying this era outside of just rome

Populations can migrate in Imperator. One of my favorite playthroughs was uniting all of germania and then depopulating all of it and simulating the Germanic Invasions and sacking Rome till there was no one left in the city. If there is no one living in a province it becomes open.

If you aren't already you should use the Imperator Invictus mod, it is basically unofficial updates at this point. Playing it without it is like playing vanilla victoria 2 without HPM or HFM imo

1:46 fun fact that the romanian language *nowadays* still has as legacy 140 words from origins *dacian-getae* from the past (Getia in the game here) our language is latin 85% nowadays but the rest of 15% is with other influences from the past ,mostly slavic (Romania is surrounded by slavic neighbours) The Roman Empire (Emperor Trajan) fought The Kingdom of Dacia (ruled by King Decebal) in 2 wars , the first was in 101-102 AD was a "draw" , because dacians put a fiercy resistance , but after 2 years war , Dacia lose manpower , while The Roman Empire regroup and came again in the second war (105-106 AD) and was victorious this time under the emperor Trajan , the romans occupied south-west of Dacia (not entire) around 25%

Btw those uncolonized provinces aren’t an issue. A lot of provinces in Ireland, Germany, and the steppes start uncolonized, so some provinces just don’t get colonized. However, even some previously colonized, or starting colonized, provinces can become uncolonized. This happens when all of the pops in a province leave, usually from events, relocating pops, or most commonly, being moved as slaves to the capital of a nation that sieges it down.

ok sorry for this is my fourth comment, just very excited to see u cover this game some nations of intrigue that would maybe be cool to see buffed in an ai only or something - heraclea pontica: theyre the last remnant of the achaemenid dynasty of the achaemenid persian empire (the one cyrus the great established) - sparta for obvious reasons is always fun to see pop off - kush, which can form a resurgent dynasty of egypt, in history they established a dynasty ppl know colloquially as the ‘black pharoahs of egypt,’ they might need some tasks in their mission tree completed via console tho - judea, i feel like this one is especially fun to see pop off due to recognizability - india, u got pretty lucky to see a maurya that never collapsed tbh! theres a lot of fun nations that pop out of maurya, to the point where itll probs just be interesting to see different regardless of whatever the subject of ur next ai only should u choose to do one finally, id love to have been able to see the religious mapmode, that’s my niche in the invictus team, and i always enjoy seeing the other mapmodes at the end of ai onlys

every time you siege a region, a pop dies. no more pops, nd the region decolonizes. that's why you should focus on sieging forts only, if you plan to take that land later.

i actually really like imperator it was rough at launch but it became really good after the 2 updates it couldve been great if they didnt abandon it.

This is a fantastic game, well worth learning and investing time into. Reuniting Alexander’s Empire is far more satisfying than playing as Rome.

I liked the game when I definitely bought it as it came out. Don't remember anything on how to actually play it but the best thing that I hope can somehow make it to eu5 is the map. It is beautiful and the shape is really good. It would be awesome to see it on a full globe

If your doing a mega campaign do a Carthage one. It’s be interesting with a world where Carthage won the Punic wars and became the dominant Mediterranean Power. It’s be an interesting world where Italy for instance would be left a ruined desolate backwater while North Africa is the wealthiest area of the world. It’d be fun if you also went for a Jewish religion in CK3, could have it be a thing where Jewish immigration into Carthage eventually lead to conversion, again mostly because it’d be interesting. Between games you could release some territories and areas to prevent rofl stomping the entire world map by CK3, like maybe the dark ages hit Carthage hard and in CK3 it’s a monarchy (since CK3 doesn’t do republics) under the Barcids (Hannibal’s dynasty) And is reduce to the area around Carthage itself and the object of the CK3 part is to regain control over North Africa and Spain and the Mediterranean islands and develop Carthage back to its former glory, by EU4 you could make it a colonial game where you colonize the Americas (replacing Spain in normal EU4) with a sub objective to restore Carthage to a republic by Vicky3 you could release the American colonial nations a la what happened to the independence revolutions of the Spanish colonies and instead pivot to Asian/African Victorian era colonialism and by HoI4 ofc enforce your chosen ideology across the world in a massive war.

Could have been a great game with like, hunnic invasion events, Rise of christianity and islam events. Would have been awesome
