Bolt Action Battle Report: Sicily Reclaimed, Fallschirmjager vs US Army.
This week we play another 1000 point battle set in Sicily, Italy and from the Soft Underbelly book.
Olaf has new Fallschirmjager army as his defence of Italy/Sicily German veteran army vs My 1000 point US Armoured Infantry Platoon, all regulars.
This scenario, envelopment is scenarion seven from the main rules book and tests the US Armies ability to take the field and get across the battlefield to secure the island and end the German occupation.
This is a fast paced all guns blazing battle to capture the island of Sicily, securing the route for the Allies to break the soft underbelly and prepare for the next leg of the campaign into the Tough gut of Italy.
See the battle unfold as the German veteran Fallschirmjager force defend whilst the US race to take the field, remove the defending German army and attempt to push deeper in to Italy, securing the allied invasion and march into Italy.
Set in the rural area of Sicily, Italy, with Warlord Games figures, Bolt Action rules and a Geek Villain mat we are all set for a thrilling and desperate race to the secure points and the win.
This week’s battle report sees olaf return to the Ministry of Miniatures to play his new German army.
Another great battle, fantastic board and a few laughs and banter along the way…
…but who will win, watch and see!

Thanks, yes, each opening door/window can have two men shoot… so if you have an LMG use that with the loader behind him… then you can get another rifle to shoot out of the window too, or as Olaf did, 2xLMG’s - 10 shots! Glad you enjoyed the game and thanks for the comment 👍🏻

Hi yes no problem, they were from 4Ground before they stopped selling scenery. They sometimes come up on ebay, but not often. Not sure if there is an alternative way to get them as 4Ground still trade but as part of Factorium. Thanks

One question, is not too realistic if the USA known the position of the Germans? Is not better if the German place the miniatures without the USA see them? Sry for my bad english

That could be a possibility, but the way the game works they are set up, but hidden… in essence this means that the US have used reconnaissance planes to locate the enemy, so the troops know they are there… somewhere, once they move or fire their positions are given up! I think it works okay for the scenario. Hope that makes sense!?

No, I did think about it but most of my figures are plastic so probably don’t need the varnish… having metal chipping is a different story, and one I keep thinking about. So far I haven’t, but am considering.. do you varnish your figures?

Just got a Flak 43 Zwilling 37mm heavy auto cannon for my Germans 4 heavy aurto cannon shots is just bad for anything below a medium tank. I would of had to try my twin German medium mortars of a SD Kfz 250/7 carrier with the medium mortar team with the 2nd Lt. between them so I could snap too and so launch both on the same turn. Looked like a fun game.

I've looked at a bunch of your battle reports and noticed you don't use any hills. All the battle reports seem to be on flat boards. Closest was the winter Foy battle that had clutches of trees on low rises. Boltactionaction has some very dynamic terrain in his reports that are worth checking out.

Thanks, we do use hills! We have the Geek villain mat and place hills underneath the mat so they are less noticeable… but they are definitely there. Thanks

@@theministryofminiatures ah, I see. Tabletop CP has those same matts and I've noticed the hills don't stand out on camera. Interesting.

@@McBurnside6380indeed, they are subtle I admit, but work relatively well for tabletop games. The boltactionaction channel is great, but I would never have time to create those types of hills, not to mention my wife’s opinion on where I would store them 😅

@@theministryofminiatures I have mine stacked like pancakes on a shelf. They really ad a whole dynamic to our games. But I totally agree, space is always the issue and you have to be selective.

Unless you are house ruleing it you are playing hidden wrong hidden gives you a extra minus two cover and you cannot be ranged in on if you are house ruleing it please explain b4 game

Indeed, Olaf corrected me when I tried to range in on his pak 40 and so I lost the shot, later he had fired and lost the hidden so I could fire without penalty. …maybe I could have won by more if I had played it correctly and allowed me to target his hidden troops 😊 Will add to my list of rules to note, thank for highlighting 👍🏻 Didn’t use house rules.

Don't take this the wrong way but the guy doing the filming sounds like an absolute nightmare to play against ! ! ! and not in a good way ! ! ! .

….why do you say that? Please specify? Being a nightmare to play against is one thing, but not in a good way can only be taken one way!? Hopefully some clarity will help.
