Michael Caine's original first name (Maurice) is actually pronounced "Morris," as it generally is in England. (I've heard him pronounce it that way.) It probably still would be in the U.S. if it weren't for M. Chevalier.
Emma Stone took Emma as her professional name only because there was already Emily Stone registered at SAG when she started acting. She says she’s seriously thinking about going back to using her real name as her professional name….
I am not a celeb afficionado yet... The video was extremely interesting! Thank you for putting all this effort into finding out their real names and making this vid so interesting. A++!
On “The View” Asunción Hostin implied that Nikki Haley went by her middle name to hide her ethnicity. Hostin did not accuse Caryn Johnson of going by Goldberg so people would think Johnson was Jewish rather than African American.
A good example was an English actor named Stewart Granger. Original name: James Stewart. Apparently there was already some American actor who went by that name. Hence the name change.
0:54. Marilyn Monroe was her real name before she got married. Monroe was on her mother’s side. 1:35. Likewise Rita Hayworth chose her mother’s name. 2:55. I actually typed out his name from Dwight on a change of name deed.
@@marcusdarkallius1194BC What! I did a geneology test and so am I!! My christian name was Munro from which her family got her name. Her family came from the same small town of Tain in Scotland where my father came from. Her family left hundreds of years ago to go to America. Do you live in America then?
@@kirstymackenzie2437 Yes I do. I currently live in Indiana. My ancestors on my dad's side came from Scotland and Ireland. My mom's side from England, Wales and Germany.
Actually, Ms. Monroe's birth name was Mortenson. The name was from her mother Gladys' 2d husband (her biological father was a man with whom her mom had an affair). Monroe was her mother's maiden name.
John Wayne's REAL name was Marion Michael Morrison -- not 'Robert'! This post is already screwed up less than 15 people in. If you are going to post, at least make it right!
1. You mentioned Michael Caine and Ornella Mutti twice. 2.Wait, Tina Turner has the same last name as Sandra Bullock? 3. For the history, Michael Keaton's real name is Michael Douglas. But because there is a Michael Douglas already, he had to change his last name to Keaton.
You are right about the name Carlos. You are also right about Hollywood not liking Jewish names. Kirk Douglas wrote in his autobiography that he had a lot of problems finding work - and not just in Hollywood - because of his name and it wasn't until he fronted up for a job and introduced himself as "Donny Dempsey" that he finally got some work.
Starting in the late 18th century Jews in Europe were compelled by law to take surnames. Therefore some artists choose a stage name that does not reflect the oppression endured by their ancestors.
Elton John's name was changed by Deed Poll, which is the legal way of changing your name in the UK. So his original birth name is irrelevant. He is legally called Elton Hercules John. It's not a stage name. He also now has a knighthood, so he is Sir Elton John.
'Chuck Norris built the hospital he was born in' - Chuck's memes are great. Carlos is Spanish for Charles, basically he only uses the nickname of his name in English. Cheers!
Charles isn't really English, its French. The name barely existed in England until the Scottish Stuart dynasty took over in 1603. The Scots were very pro-French and even altered the spelling of the name 'Stewart. to a Gallo-friendly Stuart.
