Another thing you said “I don’t have chiseled good looks”, says who? Who’s to say the qualifications of what looks good. It’s the self deprecation with certain people that does it for me. It could be anything you want and the fattest ugliest guy but if your working on it and say that you do have them then in all our minds you do.

I LOVED turning 40. It felt like I had finally learned enough to really put my foot down and accelerate into success, full speed. 6 years later, I've had professional achievements, quit drinking, eat better and am excited about the next 20+ years as I move through phases. Great video. I appreciated all the lessons.

What a timely video. I just turned 40 this year and came to many of the same conclusions. I had the privilege to meet with you last week for your market research interview and am glad to see I was already on the road to realizing many of these things myself. Keep doing what you do, incredibly inspiring and I hope to one day find myself helping others in ways you are already. It was as if you were reading my mind thinking man if only I had a cheat sheet to remember all these things, and then you're like don't worry! I got you! I continue to share your channel with all my friends and hope more people can get to listen to your content and advice. It's incredible how many people will say it's common sense to 1) sleep enough, 2) drink more water, and 3) eat healthy yet we find ourselves slipping to old ways and cutting corners. I truly suddenly feel wiser hitting 40 for all the things you said. Kids growing older, parents getting older, and just realizing I need to live for now. Thanks as always

Another great video Tae!!! Also recently turning 40 what I realized or would recommend to my younger self 1. Control your thoughts. If you think low value thoughts you will never achieve. The Stoics say only focus on in life on what you can control. 2. Be healthy- Eat well and exercise. Stay away from unhealthy foods, alcohol and drugs. 3. Take naps and sleep seriously. Have a good sleep routine to ensure a deep sleep. 4. Real estate- it is very hard to become financially secure with out owning real estate. 5. Love your parents. Overlook their past mistakes and forget your grudges to deeply love them. 6. Be a highly respectful, kind and polite person. 7. Plan out your days the night before and review each day. Your can even gamify your activities each day to make ensure you engage in productive activities. 8. Use your time well. Try to spend each minute of the day on a high value activity. Stay away from TV, video games, watching sports, social media and other major time waste. 9. Listen, but not watch, RU-vid videos on all topic as much as possible each day. The amount of time a person spends in transition and in light work activities each day is tremendous. 10. Spend your time with people who value you and doing activities you will succeed in There are some people who will never respect you. Avoid them. 11. Get a dog. They will love you unconditionally. 12. Be spiritual and follow some religion. 13. Strive to have your own business and work very hard.

I'm in my mid 50's now. My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. I'm making money even before retiring, and my retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). I’m now 51, so have even more years on the clock. A lot of this is gold. Especially that your health is all there is, childhood is short (too short for everyone) and that curiosity is a superpower. The thing I would add is always to be suspicious of people who are certain of anything. Even if you agree with them. Especially if you agree with them. Nothing complex has clear cut right and wrong answers. Most people who are certain have chosen not to examine their opinions in depth or lack the intelligence to do so. Either way you can’t trust them.

I currently work in design software in the mechanical field for the oil and gas industry, but I am also trying to learn new software so I can pursue a future in the product design field. I have more desire to grow and learn now than I did in my 20s and 30s, but I also believe I feel that way because I squandered my youth.

Wow! He really broke this down. I'll be 40 this year and I remember when I was 35 and anxious about "getting older." Taking good care of yourself, learning about yourself and treating others respectfully, while gaining wisdom is very satisfying. So don't worry about that 40 number.

Sorry for bumping…..but Are you interested on how to really achieve financial freedom I’m just saying because I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence she helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx $850k So you could try less

Wow great points. Another important point is to remember to have fun and let go from time to time, be foolish with your young kids, and go out to keep your spirit in youth. It helps with creativity, curiosity and to adventurous. BTW taking mental breaks also helps keeping it harder for longer for most people if they can stay in the right track

Anyone worrying about turning 40…..don’t. If you’re doing the right things, and living well things only get better. I know young people view me as old, but I don’t feel any different than I did at 18. My life is better by every metric though. I own a paid-for home, I have a good paying job, I’m wiser, all the things I wanted but couldn’t have at that age are obtainable now, and probably most importantly I have a loving significant other. Take care of your health and don’t try to live beyond your means in your younger years and you’ll find it gets better as you get older.

I agree with everything, except your point about there being no good debt. My student loans led to a great career in statistics, a spouse who is much smarter than I am who would not have even considered dating me without my education, and great life. They were akin to growing pains after exercise, a necessary short-term hindrance that led to long-term success. The key with debt is to ensure the expected value of what you are buying with borrowed money is high enough to compensate. Not all college majors have the same expected value, so you need to be careful with how much you borrow, and might want to supplement the loans with additional funding to make it worth it. Debt, just like money itself, can be a useful tool to get you where you need to go.

Exactly, and the creator didn't mark it with a heart so apparently, he still doesn't understand it. With a well crafted strategy, debt can be used to invest in property. To ignore this at 40 is surprising, but never too late to rectify.
