I love how he almost accidentally got it on the first fight, the luck ran out and then he gets stuck for ages trying again, the perfect metaphor for his gaming career.
@@peraltaman He did not only take the hate badly, he also refused to adapt to anything. His contemporaries sped past him and he was ignoring them, thinking he knew everything better. And then he hit a wall. Big surprise ... but obviously, Phil is still comfortable in his very slowly crashing wreck of a car, even today :D
@@bipolarexpress9827 Agreed. The best TIHYDP's was when he did not have his "side chat" to hand-hold him through everything. I remember not too long ago, he was doing a re-play of one of the Silent Hill games without his side chat. Dude had no idea how to do anything and was completely clueless 100% of the time. His MGS TIHYDP's are all classic evidences just how horrible this manchild is at gaming. Well, at anything really.
At least hes not a pitiful quiter like all those people that left the tutorial, got rekt, and started shitting on the game because of their own inability to play it.
His old man brain can’t fathom the fact that he’s got a huge battle field to run around in, no he’s gotta stay in the same spot the whole fight and jump heavy attack lol
He also doesn't realize the boss moves around the room with him. He just keeps getting backed into a corner and then blames the game for his own stupidity. I only agree that the game is delayed as fuck, but once you figure that out it's not really an issue... unless your name is DAVE.
Funniest part about this fight is that the Lava is the safest area. It barely does any tick damage, especially if you throw on that fire protection spell, and none of his mid-long range attacks(his deadliest) can get you from there. You can just spam R2 right underneath him the entire time.
I love when DSP absolutely struggles and bitches about things in a game that are easily done by literally everyone else playing it. It’s such a niche perspective to witness.

Switched back, Then realized it was the wrong weapon I was using. Switched to the serpent hunter, and destroyed him. And I suck at this game lol. Leave it to Dave to have the game literally give him the tool to win, and still lose.
@@KingBean904 yep took me 2 tries with that weapon but before i lost like 10 times but was using my weapons and he was kicking my ass cuz of the lava around him and i needed to get closer to him to attack, then used that special weapon and took him down on 2 tries, hes not hard at all
That's cause he keeps trying his stupid jump attack strategy thinking it's the best in all scenarios. He doesn't know how to adapt to the game, only complains that the game isn't behaving how he expects it. Lmao
I love watching him go through the stages of coping when something irritates him. First he jokes and tries to play it off like it doesn't bother him, and then excuses (It's not hard, it's just annoying), and then sitting there stewing in anger, and brooding, and finally he takes it out on his own viewers.

You can legit just perms stun this boss with charged r2's. Phil was actually doing this in his early attempts but his goldfish brain never realised or put two and two together. One of the best gamers in the country!
"I'm just gonna say 589 'cause I actually don't care." The hilarious thing, to me, is that he cared enough to BRING THE DEATH COUNTER BACK after all the whining he did about it. After lashing out at people who "just wanted to see him suffer" in these games. He's such a massive tool, LMAO.
The actual TIHYDP is going to last more than 2 days at this point but is going to be so perfect: no other game has shown Phil's complete lack of understanding of how to play a videogame.
@@kuro9900 id like to think outsider edits footage as its coming so he doesn't do so much work once the playthru is over. Honestly this one may require two parts
Dsp talking about big bosses: "All my moves are delayed and telegraphed so I can't dodge them". What he actually means: "I can't stun big enemies with jump attack, so it automatically sucks". Dave proving once again his lack of planning, reaction, and strategy.
You can literally just stunlock Rykard LMAO. Just spam heavy attacks and learn to dodge a couple of bites. Literally beat him in 2 tries, he was by far the easiest boss 💀
I have sunk a good 200 hours and into this game and I actually learned something from watching Phil. I never knew the snake could eat you when you die 12:38
That happened to me, I recall. But I was fighting Rykard for a good hour without the spear until I read a message saying it was (kinda) necessary. Instead of Phil, I laughed off getting eaten and was enjoying how beautiful this fight was, basically fighting the Satan of this game lmao. Kinda surprised Phil got so heated as much as he did with this boss.
Never even crossed my mind to Jump + Heavy when the skill is so insane it does 10k damage with the followup. Why even bother with a move that has no advantage whatsoever? I mean it's because that is literally the only move he knows how to use against bosses, but aside from that...
'The entire room is full' Is literally a massive open space with three pillars in it. Just because you only dodge backwards Phil doesn't mean the game is badly designed
He'd probably fail the song YMCA on Band Hero and then blame everything on the mechanics, lag, and instrument detection/vocal pitch instead of his nonexistent skill.
He has this weird thing against active frames, and seems to think that everything should immediately cancel into everything else to suit his whims. It's particularly frustrating when he's getting punished in fighting games and bitches about how he was blocking, even though he's obviously in the active/recovery frames of a move, or hitstun on the receiving end of a combo.
Lmao I find it funny how he still hasnt invested in any magical buffs. The incantation where you use fire to purge rot and poison made several areas trivial, it's one of the easiest spells to find and would help his playthrough immensely but of course the king cant be bothered.
HOW, the game literally gives you a weapon that can stun lock Rykard, you literally only need to stop to replenish FP, how is he this universally terrible after all these years.
like legit just spam charge and he dies fucking upgrading the sword to +2 makes this fight even more cake. Only thing that can fuck you is skull phase because you to stupid to kill him quickly
@@roxas5403 Funny part is that you don't need a summon for this fight, just the lance and understanding to run the hell away from the walls and the skulls. I died twice to this guy in both phases to learn those lessons but that was it, really. If he refuses to use summons later on, I just wonder how he's going to face Niall. Bastard has a whole slew of 360 degree attacks and solid damage, not to mention the adds. Bet you he's going to coincidentally pull out the bewitching branch and use it by accident on the adds.
"If I keep doing the jumping attack, surely the attack the boss started before my jump wont hit me" Melania will make him wagequit. Id put money on it.
The three simple things Phil had to learn in order to beat Rykard 1. Roll to the side instead of backwards into his grab 2. Run around the arena and away from Rykard when he summons the flaming skulls 3. Not stand still Streamchat and online guides can only take him so far lol
@@Johnnycpublic But why? By doing that it allows him to cry that hes whiffing lmao. Phil thinks that locking on means you can swing in any direction and itl hit lmao
The funny thing about this fight is that you CAN cheese him without him ever attacking you. I learned it accidentally when I was fighting him with the spear. Basically you just stagger the first hit of R1 over and over. But because Phil's FP isn't that high, he has to use flasks in the middle of the boss fight, prompting himself to get destroyed in the process. And on top of that he decides to do jumping attacks for some odd reason, which leaves him wide open. And of course, he keeps getting the camera stuck in the wall. For fucks sake Phil you've been playing these games for the past decade.
@@mysite1012 Sadly thats how I did it too. If I had known I could upgrade the spear, I probably wouldnt have needed to. But I got tired of dying to Rykards longass phase2 attack. And if I could only win with a boring stunlock, I might as well make it even more boring. A shame since I like seeing a boss's attacks.
@@Amitlu Yeah, the boss arena is amazing, the design of Rykard is amazing, but it's such a lackluster fight, especially considering it's way later in the game.
I have never seen anyone rely so heavily on jump attacking. I didn't even know this weapon could do a jump attack, the weapon art is a million times more effective to use.
@@lightningpenguin8937 I use it mainly in pvp against greatsword wielders. After each attack, they have a 1 or 2 second period where they're open. They swing, I dodge, and jump attack. It's how I completed the giant pot quest where you have to won 3 pvp battles in a row. I can't wait to Dave try a jump attack against Malaketh.
Jump attack spam consumes way too much stamina and is very susceptible to missing. The occasional jump attack when it's tactically viable is one thing, but brainlessly doing it and expecting shit to work out (then whining when it inevitably doesn't) is exactly what I expected DSP to do.
Shocked he didn't scream "anuttha puzzulll bahhhhs!!!", fold his arms and wait for chat to tell him through a donation what to do like he did in the RE3 remake with dog nemmy. also shocked no one in chat told him to upgrade the weapon, since the weapon art, all weapon arts IRRC, scale with weapon level. could have it at +9 and it would do a heck lot of damage.
@@symbioticspiderman4 It's why Carian Retaliation WA is busted. Without high intelligence, use it on a shield, upgrade it to about +20 and it'll melt through enemies. You can use the Wraith Summoning Bell to call a slow projectile then use the WA to turn it into 3 blades that do ~1k damage each. The actual spell can't do that in the slightest. It trivializes the Godskin Noble (and prolly the Apostle as well) fight. And that's good because fuck those guys! Ah but please don't use it in PvP. It's a big shit move to pull on other players.
I love how he complains that you can't dodge the bite attack and immediately dodges it, and later states how you can't avoid the poison attack and immediately avoids it. This really is a case of someone who just isn't good at games trying to find an excuse to save their gamer cred, pathetic.
Thing is bet they did, but you cant muscle through the Rhykard fight so he has to actually follow a strategy...one he even identified early in the fight but hes just too drunk.
4:45 “you try to dodge and it doesn’t work cause he’s too big” as Phil stands in one spot spamming jumping attacks till he runs out of stamina. You literally can’t make this shit up

WTF Rykard with the serpent hunter spear is one of the easiest fights in the game and he's struggling with it? Well OK, it IS DSP we are talking about...
I actually saw this in a stream earlier. This made me laugh. What pisses me off though is that he is preparing to cheese Malenia by dual wielding greataxes to stun-lock her. So he may actually have an easier time against her than Rykard. But since Rykard requires you to use a specific weapon, he can no longer cheese. So that is why I absolutely love this.
I mean, imo Rykard was one of the easiest bosses in the game for me. I legit just used Mimic Tear Ash and then spammed the Weapon Art (L2) for the whole fight and Rykard was staggered for 95% of the fight which must have lasted, both phases together, around 5 minutes... In a way it's the exact oppposite since Rykard is the only boss in the game that has a cheese weapon conveniently sitting in the room XD Just like Yhorm he's harder to NOT cheese XD
@@Skillfulstone yea I found rykard really easy too. I didnt use ashes but his first phase is really easy to dodge. So i just spammed r1 the whole first phase then spammed l2 and stunlocked him for the second. I have no clue how dsp can't dodge these attacks. I found his attacks to be some of the easiest to dodge in the game
@@beannhead I think he is doing that already. He recently switched weapons to dual wield axes and someone in chat claimed that that is one of the cheese strategies used to stun lock Malenia. So I have a feeling that he is going to do that to kill her. However, Maliketh is very mobile and hits like a truck, so I feel that he is gonna make Phil rage quit when he gets there.
He is so fuckin delusional. He just stand there, constantly doing a jumping attack, and never does anything different to react to the boss, then complains and makes up every excuse imaginable. One of THE coolest boss fights in the game, by the way. I'm pretty sure what he's doing most of the time is getting upset and hurt that he's losing, so he is literally trying to insult the game and the dev's feelings. They will never see this anyway. But it's part of his delusion. He thinks he's big enough to matter enough for them to see his insults and have their feelings mirror his own while he's losing.

He said the thing! 🤣 10:32 Boss does different things than other bosses (as though that's not the case for every single boss because who wants to fight 30 versions of Margit?) therefore, boss is bullshit. Not hard though, only died like 10 times so far, mostly without getting to phase 2 10:50 Gets 3 free hits (could have been 5 if he didn't waste time) "I can't punish!" Apparently getting multiple free hits with a damage modifier isn't considered a punish 12:22 Says he can't do the followup because it isn't safe (he said this on his first attempt he is well aware of this already), immediately tries to do the followup again anyway 15:37 It's called "situational awareness." You have 0. Apparently every boss fight should just be in an empty room because paying attention to more than 1 thing at a time is impossible for Dave the Boomer 17:32 No, what actually happened is you got greedy and attacked when you shouldn't have which caused you to take acid breath to the face. Then you blindly panic rolled caused you to get hit, then just strafed instead of rolling for the coup de grâce . I think that's enough examples of his incompetence, but I wonder how it's possible to be this bad at games and self-awareness? I didn't even think people died to Rykard, let alone on the first phase 🤷♂
A good amount of people died because they either didn’t think you had to level up the spear (you didn’t have to level up the storm ruler in previous games) or because they were still learning the boss.
It doesn’t matter how gargantuan of a room FromSoft can make for a boss fight, rest assured DSP will still find a way to back himself up to the wall and get the camera stuck so he can complain about it for the billionth time.
**Sees thumbnail with 600 deaths** **clicks video to see 581 deaths WHILE using serpent hunter** There is no way he died to the easiest unique boss in the game over 19 times even after finding and using its weakness
Rykard is a gimmick boss I'm confused why he's struggling with it when you're given an OP weapon. I'm highly confused why he keeps going toe to toe with the snake just back away.
You’d think he’d learn to roll to the side instead of rolling into the attacks. And him claiming that poison now does double damage in this fight is hysterical. He’s going through every excuse in the book instead of just learning the fight.
I wonder what it's like living in Phil's world, where everything is poorly made and nothing is ever your fault... Also, notice how he contradicts his own excuses. He claims the poison and lava AOE attacks are impossible to avoid, yet clearly manages to avoid them a few times.
10:20 He has no idea how hard it is to program an enemy, let alone a Boss on a videogame. I swear to god, i wont leave this world until i punch him in the face at least once in this life time. I hate his guts 😐
I leveled up the great-spear they intend for you to use in this fight, and used a mimic ash to just spam the shit out of the special attack until the fight was over. I think it took 3-4 attempts once I started doing that!
This is my first Soulsborne game, and Rykard was the easiest shardbearer boss second to Godrick. The game is hard, but being this bad is actually harder.
20:10 It's so amazing to see Rykard start stabbing the ground around Phil while he's charging his L2, then he charges up the second L2 while Rykard continues to attack, then he complains that he couldn't dodge roll while he clearly wasn't even attempting to dodge roll. 10/10 No notes
I love how he just keeps dodging straight back and getting grabbed cause it's a grab in a straight line. If he even dodged to he side once he wouldn't have got grabbed.
What level IS he, do you know? I tried to check before his Morgott fight but his camera was suspiciously covering that area of the screen. I killed Rykard at level 98 I think, curious to see what Phil's current stats are if possible.
