Sister Vassa is like your big sis. Wise, understanding, calm, moral, and righteous. You could come to her with anything and she would sigh, pause, and then fix your problem. Please God, more nuns like her. Amen

Thanks very much for this! I really appreciated hearing Mother Evrosinia's solid approach. Just one point, Sr Vassa: the term apostolate in the West is really used by apostolic communities rather than monastic ones (like Benedictines and Cistercians), who would be more likely to use the word "work" (or possibly manual work) for obediences.

I planted flowers for a abbess at a skete. For alot of hours. Sort of a penance. Mother Dorothea. And I am eastern Orthodox raised in so cal as a Protestant. Wow so I just went to confession and during liturgy experience something never have before. Can not use the right words to show my gratitude. Well many words forgive me. Just à small comment to the beginning of the vidéo. technically, the ROCOR was never part of the Moscow Partiarcate, as the Moscow Partiarcate was founded by Metr. Sergius in 1927. So it's not re-entring the communion with the Moscow Patriarcate , but more "we joined the Moscow Partiarcate" in 2007. (historically, this is more accurate). And the divisions are unfortunatly more deep than just "political"...

Please note that any church-body is not just its administrative structure, - although it is certainly also that, - but it is first and foremost its living and breathing human beings, gathered around Christ and faith in Him. ROCOR people, descendants of previous ROCOR generations, did "re-enter communion" with MP-people, descendants of previous generations of the church-body. And i agree that no divisions are "just political." (PS: please note that "Patriarchate" is spelled with an "h")
@@VassaLarin Well, this is where I don't agree... ROCOR originated from the original Russian church once it landed abroad, based on the epistle of St. PArtiarche Tikhon. MP was founded by Met. Sergius in 1927, when he signed the infamous declaration with the bolsheviks, thus cutting off his organisation (later called Moscou Partricate) from the Holy Church. So, technically, ROCOR joined the MP in 2007, but did not re-enter communion, because never had communion before with the MP. Further more, what do you do with the writings of two great saints of the XXth century, St John Maximovitch and St Philaret of New York?

Where in the Bible we can see the idea, that everything should be in the Bible? There is no word Trinity in in, but we confess faith in God Father, Son and Holy Spirit . Beside this there is the idea of community life in the Bible and even the idea of being not married for the sake of God.
@@littlepieceofgreen3051 Of course we have not, this is impossible to contain everything in one Book. But if we believe this is real Word of God, then we can assume there are included most important things and instructions for our faith. We can find in the Bible the idea of God's service like elders, bishops, teachers, evangelists but I cannot find there the idea of nun or monk. I agree we see the idea of community and abstaining from mariage but stil I don't see why someone who want to serve God should become a servant of religious system. Trinity is of course a theological term so I don't use it in order to express my faith.
@@arkadiuszdec2493 im sure you know the history od monastic life. This is nth new. Its been with Christians from first centuries in many forms. Being a monastic is not serving the institution, its serving the Body od Christ, the community (in active way:feeding, looking after sick, or contemplative way: praying for world). You dont go there in order to be saved, or work for salvation. You go because you recognize you are called, out of love, thay dont run away from world, problems. This is about relationship, community with God, you desire Him above all things. You want to live like Jesus, in service to needy, in obidience before God, in chestity like Jesus.
@@littlepieceofgreen3051 I didn't research the history of monastic life, but probably it's been popular for many years. However, it doesn't mean it's right and consistent with God's Word. There are many beliefs or religious rituals lasting for centuries that ar nothing to do with the Bible. Of course, feeding the poor, looking after seek is a great form of service, no doubt. But, monastic order requires also obedience to the Catholic religion, doesn't it? For example, I could not become a monk if I refuse praying to Mary or saints, the belief in transubstantiation, purgatory, the cult of icons and many other things. This is my point.
St John the Baptist was a monastic, so was Jesus the Lord (living in the wilderness, fasting, in prayer). The monastics that followed are a continuation of the lifestyle of St John, and St Paul (and the other apostles) tonsured monastics (including female ones). St Paul tonsured St Thecla as a nun. The virgins in the temple were also proto-monastics
