Happy 4th of July everyone! Hope you all have a good one! 🇺🇸🎆 Just to explain the situation, Nissan granted us special access to check out the Sport model but we only had about 20 mins and we weren't allowed to drive it since none of the other journalists did either. We included a clip of the Performance model with the automatic transmission because that is the one we were driving earlier on in the day. We hope you understand 👍

Nissan is very aware that anyone who understands anything about a 400 hp, RWD sports car knows that a limited slip differential (LSD) is mandatory. That is why they didn't include it in their base model, and they've been doing this for years with all their "Z" models, basically forcing anyone interested in more than posing to upgrade. In reality, this is a $50k car.

My 240sx has 462 whp & 411 wtq and ran that on open diff ..... it was a one wheel wonder even with MT drag radials. It was horrible. So imagine 350 tq at 1600 rpm to 1 wheel ... Maybe if your not getting on it or driving like Miss Daisy, then its ok. But most who buy this car WILL step on it and its going to spin one tire and not go anywhere. I will easily get the performance model because it has the lsd with big brakes and the 19x10's in the rear so i can put on some sticky 305's .... and it has the better suspension because i dont plan to lower it at all ...

@@ForzaMonkey Anyways, the base model for 40k is ass, you get bad brakes, and most importantly an OPEN diff, all competitors have lsd's, it means traction is horrid and handling takes a nosedive, even the civic si and gti have lsd's. you're forced to get the 49k Z to get the LSD, good brakes, rays wheels, spoiler, better exhaust, and decent interior(base interior is SAD as you can see), problem is at 49k you['re at Toyota supra pricing, which easily beats this car with a better engine, platform, and interior.

I’m confused by this video. Title say says base model which is shown at the beginning of video, but during the test drive they are driving an automatic with the upgraded seats so is this the base model or the upgraded model? Also at the beginning of the video the car they were showing was a stick shift and the car they were test driving was an automatic.

It pretty comes down to if you plan on tracking your car. You won’t notice a difference around town if you have the additional cooling, bigger brakes and LSD, but on a race track you will absolutely need all of those parts. Most people will be fine with the base, even the vast majority of “auto enthusiast “ don’t hit the racetrack. Personally for $40k if you want to hit the track reliably your better off getting an Elantra N or BMW 230i M sport.

@@postalpancho well looks are subjective and I’d say the Veloster is the best looking out of the 3 available. If all you have is “they are ugly” then you don’t got much. My VN has a 10 power train warranty that is a manufacturer warranty. With 7 year body. After 2 years of pwndership I haven’t had a problem other than hitting a road gator. So reliability isn’t a concern for me now.
