Arriving in Salerno, I got stood up by a Couchsurfer. But I decided not to waste the day. The Amalfi coast starts just west from Salerno, and it's a gorgeous place to explore any time of year.
Now, you can get a boat trip and see it from the azure waters, but that's pricey! Good thing that ordinary buses run all along the coast too. You can buy a bus ticket in any Tobacco shop, and some souvenir shops sell them too.
My fare from Salerno to Amalfi coast €2.40. Another €2.20 got me from Amalfi to Positano, and onwards to Sorrento. They told me I could use the same ticket. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
