@@Gallanitte It definitely would be worth it to wait, if K14 comes soon I doubt the most recent things would be included, but you never know... I don't have any insider info by the way ;)
@@jefgibbons In the meantime, I found a speculation thread on Vi Control… it appears NI’s tendency is to release new Kompletes around september. We’ll see. I have K12 uktimate but didn’t feel the need for 13. They might get me to upgrade with K14… ha, marketing, when you hold us!
@@Gallanitte If the past is any indicator, 14 will be here September or October. But I usually wait until they have their 50% off update sale the following summer. So, 2023 for me. If you wait for the sale like me, you might as well buy what you really want in the meantime, if you’re going to use it.
I have learned so much watching ur videos! I have been using Kontakt for about a year and everytime I open it I learn something new. Thankfully u have taken the time to learn pass along the knowledge. ✊#respect #reasongang
Yours is the only vid I've found that shows that you can indeed use 40's own drums using maschine 2 software and maschine mk3 pads kind of like a group. (I'm not very good using the keys) Just upgraded K select to standard. I feel like it's all I need- and then some! Love it! I'm bookmarking your great vids left right and center. Cheers Jef!
First NI teams up with Plugin Alliance and others for Soundwide and featured Young Guru heavily in the promotion, now they release a Noah 40 instrument on that sexy chic Maschine, it's about time I invest into NI I love they're new direction.
I wish ni did more varied genres instead of mainly hip hop /techno .. I’d love it if they did a synth wave maschine kit they could do it with timecop or midnight it’d be amazing
I agree! Although I feel like so many of them are geared to my fave genre right now, the 80s synth wave thing, an ambient expansion... Boards of Canada type expansion... even some rock stuff, jazz stuff... heck, even country... those would be so great!
So did I get it correct. If I just want to use the one shots. I have to open up for each sound one Kontakt player? Because if you have everything in one Channel, you have no control over the different sounds.
Great review. I already bought it but next one I will buy through your affiliate program. I have two questions: 1. When I drag and drop midi (from another drum plugin like Dope) it won't play on the channel where I have 40s Drums (so Komplete Kontrol). So it won't trigger midi notes I've already played with another audio unit and now want to use in 40s. 2. The other one will probably be really simple: I can't get one shots. I was hoping the difference between Pattern mode and Kit mode would be that the pattern also have the whole pattern under (for instance C1), but I can't find the separate sounds so I can just trigger kicks, snares, rides etc. Pretty sure it's simple stuff....but I'm a musician.....not a a tech expert! hahaha
I'm sorry I can't take my eyes on the Maschine or NI keyboard, like I don't own anything NI but that's gonna have to change bcuz they're products are gorgeous.
I really would like to know how to assign each drum kit sample to an individual channel so that I can change the pitch of the bass kick instead of using the basic single kick. I want to be able to draw in my patterns of each pad sample on a piano roll instead of only being able to work with the full kit as a group. Any advice on this?
I like the pads , not sure about the drums for me . They work in the context of recreating a “So Far Gone” RnB vibe . But it’s more so overlap with the NI minimalistic kits with cutoff & reverb… Honestly , I’m trying to stop buying more; And going through to listen to every Expansion kit and NI instrument I own . write notes on each sound, and how I’d possibly use them. It’s been a task lol
Good thoughts! And you know eventually they'll show up in a Komplete version... or a sale! It's so important to go back and tap into the things you already have.
Question: if you want to change the layout of the drum hits in a kit….is there an easy way to re-arrange the order of the pads? Can you drag around the sounds to quickly assign them to different pads? For example, if you wanted the usual kick, snare, hihat, open Hihat on the bottom four pads
Just checked, and it doesn't seem easy, you'd have to reload the samples you want by clicking on them in the Kit area... bit of a pain. And strange that they didn't map them the "traditional" way like you described.
I don't understand what is the point of this instrument. All the sounds are very basic and can already be found in other plugins and Kontakt instruments. Especially the drum kits, they are run-of-the-mill sounds that can be done with any 808 plugins (even free ones). And inserting effects can already be done in any DAW.
There’s definitely a ton of overlap these days… but I can remember getting packs “in the style of” that helped me when I was getting started in certain genres.
That can be said of almost every product released. These are for people who enjoy the NI ecosystem looking for a particular sound in one place with a fantastic UI. It can also be a workflow enhancer too, depending on the tools one is coming from. These instruments are well priced according to their value as well. Nothing they put out is meant for everybody.
@@alchemistrpm82 yea i agree , i don't really like sound design or having to look for sounds through different packs , as a piano player it just makes the workflow much better to have things in one place and the sound already curated and honestly i would get it because of the brand itself like nike and adidas can use the same material but you probably would pick one over the other because of its brand and knowing that this came from 40 himself you can fairly assume this is all you need to get started with this sound.
Great walkthrough, Jef! 40 would be a great guest for Beats and Chats. Two Canucks with great chops. 👍 Edit: Of course, you call out your BnC vid right as I hit the send. 😂
