I miss Dave and his overview, organization, explaination, and humour. Love the beautiful nature shots and its fun to see the slice of spring life as everything gets going again after winter.
That’s EXACTLY why David tries to take a step back. It’s not about him, it’s about the project. About the collective. Remember, we re not Dave, we are one army. You can still be in love with Elon musk if you need to worship someone....🤷♂️
@@bobjob3632 yeah but everyone has different skills and Dave is a good presenter and has kept these videos focussed and interesting - just my opinion though.
I love the new filming, and I long for the structure of the past year's videos. Hopefully Dave and Felix can work together to blend their skills, as Dave's presentation style was so informative and inspiring.
These videos are so great and this is probably the video series that I expect the most during the week. If I could ask/suggest a couple of thing: 1 - Update us on what's changed on the camp site (the area with the containers) and show a broader view of the place. I always like to know where things are and what's different. 2 - Show us who is who. The video introduced us to two new people, but I saw a lot more as the video went on. I know this ends up turning this more into a reality show than it should, but hey, we fell like we are part of Projeck Kamp, too! :) 3 - I liked the documentary vibe that Dave gave to these videos. I'd love to see more of that with Felix doing his things. 4 - I see some people complaining about how it's too long. For me it could be 1 hour long! It's only once a week! Love the project, wish you guys the best. Keep up the great work.
I agree. I like how Dave had almost like a signature on his videos. Would love to see him more, or at least once. I like the fast speed video parts of how things get trimmed/built and the before and after results, maybe we could bring them back? The tent building would have been nice on high speed for example. LOVE the stationary scenes, close ups with music. I do think some of them last a little too long, which makes the video seem to last longer. Beautiful nature. More mushrooms close ups! Great job Felix! :D
yeah right id love hour long videos or something i enjoy watching the kamp grow and yeah when new people come id love for them to introduce themselves or something thatd be nice
I love the shot of the dog sitting under the dripping water. Its one of those tiny moments that takes a special attention to detail to get such a insignificant but comically beautiful shot.
I do enjoy the cinematic shots. At the same time I also enjoyed Daves quicker / more dynamic vibe... maybe you could try to use some more timelapses in the next ones?
I'm fascinated by all of the critiques in the comments. I feel like the commenters could have more patience, and let the new video maker and content evolve with time. The videos are supposed to be entertaining, but they can't make videos that fit everyone's taste perfectly. These people are doing something amazing! Feeling thankful to get a glimpse into a different way of living.
Iam Just expecting that the New competent Video creator can follow the Red line and concept of the first season, thats why i loved the viedeos in the first place, so iam dissapointed bc i was waiting hole Winter for the content i was jused to know
I think it's that so much changed, we lost most of the narrative during the videos, Dave is no longer there, and there's a new style of filming and editing. I will still continue to watch, but hopefully they can bring back some of what brought so many fans to them in the first place.
Good or bad comments depending on how you arrange them are all going to further the algorythem into their favor. It's all the same. I'm curious as to how it will be this year also. Whether I get a heart from them or not is not my objective when I add my comment. They had all winter to figure out how to start the new videos. Just a little on the blah side to start this year. Just my opinion.
in this kind of format there really isn't time for a learning curve. If I don't enjoy what I see I'm not going to come back and I haven't enjoyed the first half of this video
You guys are bloody incredible, the best vlogs on you tube. Your insight in your beautiful land, your taming of the brambles, your mindfulness of nature, your beautiful simple designs of the outhouses, your willingness to take chances, the genius idea of a seperate workshop and a kitchen set up in shipping containers to be delivered on the land. Building a community, going back to helping neighbours, and I can go on and on. Truly inspiring. And no click bait on showing skin unnecessarily,, I watch you for the content, well friggin done
Only seen half of the video, but I'm already in love with the absolutely great overall quality! Nice captured details, well set cuts, feels like the mood is brought directly to my screen :)
I've been following the project since the beginning, I couldn't wait for the new video, I understood the break and was glad it was April. I don't know if this is the right way to go. video and sound is better but really miss the experience i had last season, dave who took you all the way and made you feel like you were there. I also thought that dave stayed the host and someone came in to edit. I now had the feeling that I was watching some people having a good time on a piece of land, nothing wrong with that of course but not at all informative in terms of the project for which I follow the channel.
Let me start by stating that I absolutely adore this channel and am invested in it and project Kamp. This is the first channel that has this type of content that had fantastic storytelling, not yet a fan of the new type of storytelling...but sometimes things just need some time to improve. I understand that Dave needs to spend his time wisely, but I kind of suspect that he might have underestimated how much of this channel relies on his personality, creativity, structure, pace and perspective. This is the first video that I didn't watch in one go and had to revisit several times in order to watch it whole... To end on a bright note: the music and b-roll are stunning.
The video is very cinematic - but really I want to see real life projects happening - I care less for scenic shots of flowers etc - just my opinion. The style of Chris Harbor is spot on IMHO
40% less close up views of nature, and fill that time with projects and day to day life. People with artistic vision miss one crucial detail about RU-vid, the people are the story.
The video's interweaving of nature scenes and human activity actually represents what Project Kamp is all about! Nature's gift is beauty; human work enhances this beauty. I like the meditative and peaceful vibe of the film. Keep up the good work, Mr. Filmmaker. 👌☺
I enjoyed the videos better with Dave explaining what's going on in the kamp, even the intro and outro was a big shift in how it used to be. You know the saying: old but gold
7 min into the video: Really nice nature shots but the pace was a bit slow for my liking. More explaining and talking and would be nice. Keep it going!
the addition of the nature and cinematic shots are TOP NOTCH. The quality of the videos are insane and very well done. I will echo what a lot of people have said and it would be nice to blend the styles a little with Dave giving some overview and explanation of certain things.
Hey there! I have some tips for clearing silvas (the spiky thorny bushes): - There are some blades for the machine you are using that have two tips bended downward, those are made especificaly for silvas, and you shred them with a downward motion. - Silvas are a very tough bush that sprout again very easily, one way to prevent that is to turn the soil 5 cm in order to expose the roots, wich woul then die off On the topic of using the shreder machine (sorry, idk the exact name in english) its a good practice to start in a corner and organize in advance how you are going to make the cuts: when you have tall bushes or grass, they will fall on top of the blade, which will make it spend more energy (up to 40% more), for example. Also, if the blades turn clockwise, if the user makes a movement from left to right, you will be throwing debris in your direction, if you make it from right to left, if there is like a rock you cant see, it will be thrown away from you. Love your work, cheers from Portugal :)
Loved the video, would be great to have the pace and structure of the past videos. I found this much harder to follow in terms of information and the progress on the Kamp as i feel like some things could have been more concise (e.g. I feel the building of the stairs didn't have to be 10 mins long) but never the less enjoyed seeing what a more realistic 'day to day' looks like. I really enjoyed the new cinematography that Felix is bringing and excited to see the development next week- from a subscriber and habitual weekly viewer (from EP#1)
Lost my comment which was to express my profound joy at all the works you are doing. I found that although 79 and living in Vermont I was wishing myself with you all !!
I enjoyed the more relaxed vibe of the video. It showed the perspective of a new member of the community and I can appreciate that. Living sustainable is not always just about what you are doing, but also how you perceive the things that are around you. I loved seeing how the bees checked out those lavender and rosemary flowers. It gives a whole new perspective of the project which I like.
Clearly these folks are well-intentioned but uninformed. They look like a bunch of children that have all decided to go camping without a real clue of what it entails. Not sure I'm going to make it through many more videos. A commune of hippies in Portugal. Yay.
Loved the cinematography, however I felt lost not knowing who's who, what they're doing, and why. I think some voice over with the cinematography, to inform the viewer would be good.
I love the new video guys approach. Being with the quiet nature scenes gave me such a sense of peace. Loved the background music. Juxtaposing the hard days work with the making of food and hanging out with the community at the end of the day was lovely too. Glad there is live music and a dog. Were those bottles of beer? Are they brewing their own?
I was definitely looking forward to seeing the update with Felix at the helm! I thought the video was really well crafted and its a shift from the way how Dave used to do things. There are qualities in which I enjoyed more with Dave as a filmmaker but I think things will get even better with Felix getting used to being in the community. Good luck!
Please for the love of God, invest in some chaisnaw trousers and boots. One wrong move and the saws going through the operators legs. It'll cost money but it'll cost a lot more if a leg comes off or much worse. Also sharpen the chain. Your guy put the saw in the dirt after that first cut near the start of the vid. Also for grass your better with a string trimmer than a brush cutter Sincerely, a forestry contractor
Was really surprised by the music at the beginning, being so used to the old song haha. Great work as always, must be the best time of the year in spring, enjoy your time guys
Hey there, I’m signing off. If this is the new style of reporting the progress, I don’t feel “at home” anymore. I miss Dave here, and zooming in on plants and snails is not what I want to see of a growing project. Thnks a LOT for all last year video’s. I keep the inspiring idea with me of your ambitious projct and wish you all the best. May it grow, may it grow. Bye bye 👋
You're not the only one who is not excited with this content! I think they've gotten an earful from us. Let's hope they listen. Stick around. They may come to their senses.
Very nice shots! would be nice to get the story telling and style of other project kamp/one army videos. Please tell us more about all the new people who are joining, who they are, where they come from and why/what for they are joining the team 🙂 Keep up the good work 👍
I'm far more interested in how all the systems are working with more people on the site and over the close up shots of snails. Maybe a drone shot of tent town versus the van area would have been nice. I have no problems with the length though would happily watch an hour.
@@billkelly8499 for sure I was just using it as an example of content in the video that was maybe not as important as things like introducing the new people, how the water system, and solar is holding up after the break between seasons etc.
I really enjoyed the video and it's nice to see new people arround the camp. I liked the close up on the nature, and the shot that are showing the athmosphere of the camp. However, I felt there was too much of it, and not enough explanation and narrative. Also, the video was overall a bit long compared with the content. Finally, it would have been nice to see timelaps and aerial view, to better understand what was going on. I still enjoy the project and I'm confident that the video will become better in the futur.
There is a heavy breathing behind the camera, which is a bit confusing?! Missing Dave and his narrative voice/perspective :( I´m very curios to see your progress in season 2 and just love your videos! Overall great projekt! Wish you good success and all the best!
This was superbly done! Something for everyone to love somewhere in the mix, excellent camera work & editing, and the feeling of a real sustainable community starting to spread its wings. Look hyperspeed cityfolk, the joy of rural life is the slower organic pace of every day, and the lush, green living environment full of raw Nature. Drink it in in sips and savor it, not the usual gulps & caffeine stimulated chugalugs. Project Kamp is a look at the positive possibilities of the 21st century. Women using construction & landscaping tools, figuring things out, and getting hard physical work done. Men preparing meals, fully capable of operating a washing machine, and behaving like mature gentlemen. Gender roles dissolving as we each grow to our full potential as capable human beings able to contribute to common community goals. My generation tried this back in the 60's & 70's but we weren't evolved enough to succeed truly sustainably. Some wanted to smoke weed and hang out, when there was real work to be done. Others just wanted some Free Love and endless Good Vibes. Project Kamp looks far more mature, more capable, and much more focused. My wife & I want to wish you all the best. You are modeling a better way to live, so keep living the dream. Keep it real and show folks how a better human future can be created & sustained. So far, so good...
Maybe it’s the change but I am not convinced about this new format, but more than anything I am really missing Dave, his quick wit and the pace of the old format. Maybe I will get used to it but i feel like I subscribed to a different channel and now that has gone. This is more like a fly on the wall reality TV show feel now, whereas before Dave was constantly talking to us and we felt part of the project rather than just watching over someone’s shoulder. Hopefully, like others have said, a compromise can be made and we can get some more of Dave and the pace and directness of the old format back.
Happy to see you again, good luck this season. I have not enjoyed the abuse of closeups during the video, it clashes with the open "in the wild" feel of the content.
About the Mimosas: Wouldn't it be sensible to cut down ALL of them so you have a stack of dry/drying wood for burning and building while that frees up the promotion of native plants or simple frees up space for you to plant native species?
Good job on the stairs Julie. Have y’all thought about using mimosa pieces in a similar fashion to make wooden paths for when it rains? They can be strung easily with jute or screwed to larger mimosa limbs
16:00 if anyone ever stuggles with this stuff, because there are no numbers added to the metal poles (and the manual doesn't really help) - start laying them out(same looking ones to same looking ones). Tents are usually symmetrical. If you got something only once, it usually goes in the center. From there, it's mostly just adding mirror images of poles into available holes.
Not sure about the new video style yet. Quality of video is a lot better so that nice. But the video was not as interesting. Missed some narrating or context. Watching people do one task in real time take too long. Video could have been only 15 min. Hope to see next videos come together more. Always watched all episodes. Good luck to you all.
Its a DeWaard Tent, maybe they did military stuff aswell, but its more a company for private or group tents. Their strenght is family tents. For sure the first company as i know in western europe that made really good storm tents for long periods of usage especially in seecoast conditions. You can get still exchange stuff for the tents cuse company is still there. We have the luck to could afford such a tent for our island summer vacations and we love it sooo much.
Just wanted to say I love your guys’s pace the way it is, with all of the nice slow nature shots, it is peaceful, and a good way to calm down. I understand it might be a little too slow for younger viewers, who might have shorter attention span due to socials/ TikTok, but keep up the good work!! (not saying there aren’t younger viewers who don’t enjoy the slower paced shots)
I made a blow poke for my wood fired oven. It’s simply a copper tube with an old trumpet mouthpiece. Very effective and a super safe way to stoke your fire and not get a face full of ashes. Love your videos and am excited for this season of improvements! Cheers!
This video was more like documenting a hippy comune. Not much projecting going on. Finally put my finger on it. I came for the projecting. All I got was hungry for pizza. Take what you want from this comment.
I totally agree. Now also with the dog the comune is "complete" xDD Moreover since they hire a video maker i was expecting a bit more quality and to "cut to the cheese". instead only boring sequence of nothing. Another interesting question is where they discharge the dirty and soapy/plastic water from the washing machine?!?
@@JoffJk yes but being a content creator is all about capturing and emphasizing the dreams, goals, etc. And keeping your viewers coming back for more. Yes I realize projects need to evolve but into what for this one? The mystery of it all is the objective at this point.
