Mark makes some good points on the movies. A few other things: 1.) Fury road wasn’t a massive hit. So it’s also not super surprising an almost 10 year gap that doesn’t star any of the original characters didn’t get people super excited. 2.) Movies are just way more expensive now. I’m in mid michigan. In 09 when I was in college a ticket was 7 bucks. Now if you want the good seats is 15 or more. When I went to spiderverse with the wife and kiddo is cost over $100 when we got drinks and food. The experience has doubled in price and most people’s incomes haven’t. So we have to pick and choose when we go.

Fun Fact... There reson why Starship Trooper's alien CGI still hold up today, is because between principle photography and film release, there was a two year period where the Studio Executives had their minds on other 'more important' things and the ST production just sort of went beyond all studio notice.... so what did Paul Verhoovan choose to do for those two years? Render the CGI-VFX. The more time you give your CGI to render, the better they will appear. Most of the time, if a big studio film's CGI looks lazy and lacking definition, it's generally because they needed more render time, but never got it because they are beholden to release schedules

Marc, good luck on the colon, had my first colo just last year and it is very easy going. After you got IV going, it’s smooth going. The prep is the hard part. Get the pre mixed if they give you the option.

As someone JC's age who's already had two colonoscopies (family history) the only way to describe it is thus: The bad part is said medicine the night before. Sorry to be crude, but you will piss from your ass. On the plus side, my first showed up something they could remove and treat and saved my ass. Excuse the pun. 4 years later (and will for life) all clear. You'll be glad you did. But yeah get yourself a good book and a comfy toilet seat pillow...

Void Rivals (ongoing), Transformers (ongoing), Duke (1-5), Cobra Commander (1-5), Scarlett (1-5), Destro (1-5), Energon Universe Special. The crossover bit is a very slow burn. It's really incredible.

Correction: the 2004 Gi Joe/ Transformers crossover that JC was talking bout was from the short lived Dreamwave company. However, Gi Joe and Transformers have crossed over many times from Marvel Comics to IDW Comics. Hell, the cartoon even had a mini crossover where its not official stated that cobra commander comes into the transformer cartoon and turns some of the autobots into humans.

Instead of the final fight between Vader and Obi-wan being in that gravel pit, it’s in the capital city of Alderaan, and the senator and his wife both die. After conferring with Yoda, Kenobi realises that he has no choice but to continue to look after Leia, but he still has to look after Luke. He ultimately decides to bring her to Tatooine and gets the Lars’ to look after her, too. As looking after the twins becomes increasingly difficult for Owen and Beru, they eventually ask Obi-wan to help. It’s around this time that both twins suddenly realise that they too can feel and use the Force. Queue TV series of two precocious 13yo twins learning to use the Force while growing up near Mos Eisley.

Just got a Colonoscopy...ugh. The process was painless, they give you sedation and you never know it happened. The day before, not quite as fun. I couldn't eat anything, but then second half of the day you had to a drink a gallon of water based gelatinous fluid, with drinking an 8 oz glass every 15 minutes, which takes about an hour for the medicine to take an effect. The day before is the most pain.

He knows he owes his fans nothing. He’s revealed way more than he probably realizes in the past couple years. He peaked at a young age, lauded as an auteur filmmaker after one attempt, and has been grifting and chasing the ghost ever since. He has thousands of adoring fans internationally but what he cares more about are the negative comments he reads online. I say this as a subscriber to his club. He hasn’t posted half of a percentage of the content promised this year, and we are talking 5 minute podcasts he records from his iPhone. I’ll always be glad to see new things from him, but he has severe Hollywood syndrome.

They usually use Propofyl (the light anesthesia that Michael Jackson used to use to sleep) for colonoscopy. It only knocks you out for like 30 min and you wake up groggy. The prep is worse than the procedure, but you should still get one scheduled JC! They remove polyps that can turn into colon cancer which is happening earlier and earlier and more frequently in Americans (likely thanks to our diet) The AMA lowered their recommendation for colonoscopies from 50 to 45 and might move it down to 40.

On the Transformers front. They've been trying to simpler shapes and transformations since Bumblebee. Those directors have been pushing for the G1 designs. Now with the crossover and the prequel movie for Optimus. They are trying to wean us from Peter Cullen, while crossing over two properties that they teased after the end of Rise of the Beasts.

Just had a colonoscopy yesterday. The procedure itself WITH ANESTHESIA is fine. I’ve had a couple. They give you that stuff that killed Michael Jackson and with in 3 seconds you’re out. Then you wake up in the recovery room under a warm toasty blanket having just had the most wonderful nap. I asked the nurses if they could come tuck me into bed this every night. If I was super rich like Michael Jackson I too would pay for this service. And if you die? I’m telling you. That’s the way you want to go. Peaceful and easy. The prep the night before on the other hand…that sucks. Or blows would be a more accurate description.

I like Miller as a writer/director/artist and will Definitely be going to see Furiosa this weekend. Trust Marc to put a downer on almost any movie you like the look of. Don't think you should be putting people off going to the cinema man! It can't be anywhere near as bad as Solo! So I'm ignoring the negativity this podcast is oozing this week!

When Kev is here to balance him out it's fine but Marc is just such a negative guy it seems that on his own it's a very depressing thing to listen to. Especially when he spent like 5 minutes setting us up for a fall. Don't listen to him. Furiosa was never going to be Fury Road but it also isn't trying to be. I think they were able to go as hard with Fury Road because nobody was expecting it. With all the pressure I think they lean on Furiosa a little more than they should since we do know her but I don't find any of her journey unworthy of my time. Having said that I think if that pressure wasn't there I think they would have spent more time with Dementus who is far and away the best character in the movie. I also really like what Lachy Hulme is doing as younger Immortan Joe and if the focus had been solely on those two it would've been an overall better movie. But what we get is nothing to sneeze at. George Miller is nearly a decade older so there's more CGI and it's more obvious CGI but that didn't really bother me. The action is still great. It expands the world and we see places that were only hinted at before. I came out of this thinking about it and honestly it's been over a week and I keep thinking back on it to the point I'm really excited to see it again. If a movie can do that it's better than most.

For a guy who talks so much about stories needing subtext and deeper meaning, Marc misses so many obvious details and themes. Furiosa didn't just decide not to go back to the Green Place for no reason. She stayed to gather supplies and learn from Jack. She develops a relationship with Jack and chooses to help him instead of leaving. Then she loses Jack and the arm that she tattooed the map to the Green Place. How does Marc not see the deeper themes and symbolism to Furiosa having the map tattooed on her arm? How does Marc not realize the significance of Furiosa losing everything each time she went back to someone she cared about, and how that adds more weight to her decision to trust Max in Fury Road? And how does Marc miss the very obvious ways Dementus was a reflection of Max, Furiosa, and Immortan Joe? Dementus lost his family just like Max but he was driven truly mad by the loss and became a cult leader instead of a lone wanderer. Dementus suffered and chose to spread that suffering to others whereas Furiosa kept her suffering within and eventually used her pain to drive herself to redemption. Dementus was the chaos and war of the wasteland as opposed to Immortan Joe's order and tyranny.

Kevin hasnt done an episode in going on 3 months now. Love Marc but he puts me to sleep when its only him and JC. Losing 30k of your viewers each episode he doesnt do should tell you something
