I've never seen 42nd Street, but I was astonished by how much of it I recognized. That shot of the camera going through the many pairs of legs is basically the first image to appear when someone thinks of Busby Berkeley. This movie may have had a mediocre story, but it had legendary choreography, and did it ever have lines of dialogue. "You've got to come back a star" is a line that has lasted for nearly ninety years. I think it says something that something acted so poorly has lasted so long.

If you want to do musicals, have you seen 1776? It’s so stunningly good. It really brings history to life in a fun way. I also LOVE Calamity Jane. It’s one of the few Doris Day movies where Ms. Day is playing a character and not herself (to me). The score is amazing too. Both mix comedy, drama and music so well.

I was in a stage production of 42nd Street a few years ago. It occurred to me that it's basically Phantom of the Opera with the scary elements removed.

Hi guys, just wanted to say how much I love your shows. Incredibly funny but also inciteful. A difficult mix to master but you've succeeded, kudos. Oh and of course... Iron Sky and/or Iron Sky: The Coming Race. Seen it? It's Udocity turned up to 11. Bad but in the best ways....

I love mst3k and RIFFTRAX! ive made similar jokes during movies and then heard close to my jokes said when the guys riffed the movies later. I'm not trying to sound like i think people steal my jokes LoL, they were comments i made out loud years ago to OLD movies, the only way anyone would be able to know what i said is if they were watching with me at the time. (which is like, nobody)

Have you seen Dick Powell as Philip Marlowe in "Murder My Sweet?" Because of this movie they couldn't call it by its original title: "Farewell My Lovely" because people would've thought that it was a musical. Even though he's a bit of a dud in this movie, Dick Powell played some great Private Eyes in later years. Check it out.

I know we’re not there yet (though it wouldn’t shock me if you’re already considering it), but I’ve got an idea for a year-end short film. It’s a silent film from Max Fleischer called Koko’s Haunted House. Cute, clever, visually impressive for the era and kinda creepy as well.
