How was she treated like a 'black' woman - we are the UK, we never had apartheid! Most of us didn't know she was mixed race, but were just happy Henry had found his one and only. IMO she has made it about race, because she didn't get what she wanted - easier to blame race than admit fault

I am a 68 year old for lack of a better term black woman in America and I had no good thoughts or things to say about Megan when I was first introduced to her in 2016 because I seen absolutely no pictures of her with people of her mothers skin complexion therefore I knew That she was passing for White as they did back in the 1920s and up. and when she said, I’d never been treated like a black woman that gut punched me and I have gone through some racism, but that was a gut punch. That let me notice she had a distain for people of color, which means I’m thinking she hated her mother. That relationship doesn’t appear to be a loving mother and daughter relationship to me at all.

The big tip off that she was kinda disingenuous is that she has no black friends that are ordinary or from childhood/young adulthood. As a black woman its always a redflag seeing a woman of color that does not have any female friends that are women of color. Meghan's friends that are black are also rich and famous and she has used them.

The look of contempt and the hard swallow when she said " before that most people didn't treat me like a black woman" were IMO both huge tells on her true feelings towards being identified as black. I am a 75 year old American woman and have never, in all of these years, come across an information form that did not have a space for "other" or mixed. To be 43% Nigerian is not possible. Nigeria is made up of over 230 ethnicities so Nigerian is not a race one can belong to. The only way to be a Nigerian is to become a citizen of Nigeria. Racism is a two way street. I have been made very uncomfortable by some black people who showed dislike for me based on nothing but my skin color, which is "white", particularly since 2008 when B.O. began stirring tensions, resentments and hatred among black people aimed at white people. This animosity is playing a large part in the destruction of America at this point.

Racism have always been present in every race and directed at any race. Racism is not just being 'against' black people.

New Zealander here.... Gary Lewis (Maori) married a great-granddaughter of George V. They tied the knot in 2004 in the private chapel at Kensington Palace - which had been Lady Davina's childhood home. Gary making him the first person of Maori descent to marry into the Royal Family. He is not "a person of colour" he is proudly Maori .

In the 70s in college I was asked out by a classmate who was black. When I declined, I was accused of racism. I just didn’t like him! He was five years older than me, been married and divorced, and didn’t care for the same things or have the same world view as me. I’m allowed to say no for whatever reason. I turned down dates from white guys, too.

The one thing about MeGain’s wedding that impressed me was after the service when Prince Charles and Camilla were about to head down the stairs. He actually offered his other arm to her mother Doria and escorted them both down the stairs. Charles‘ really touched me. He and Camilla seem to be making Doria feel comfortable. Yet MeGain seems to turn everything to make her a victim. She is only a victim of her own actions because she had it all and she let it go because it wasn’t enough.

In the beginning i wanted to like and admire Meghan. But watching her in the news initially i was turned off by her desperate grasping and clutching of Harry. It seemed silly and strange. She still does it. Over time i disliked her and looked for redeeming qualities and found none. She was absolutely no one known until she married into the Royal family. And she'll never give that up! I am Korean, grew up in US. In early 1970s they only had 2 check boxes for white and black, nothing for Asian. By mid 1970s they started adding Asian and other boxes, by late 1970s, and I think this was true nationwide because I was filling out college applications nationwide, there were 5-7plus boxes covering just about every category you could ask for including mixed and other.

I am so sick and tired of having it constantly pointed out to my countrymen that Britain was involved in slavery. Yes, we know. It was absolutely abhorrent, repugnant, dispicable, and many, many countries participated in it too; Africans as well to a very large extent. When public opinion turned, it became one of the Royal Navy's major goals to completely put an end to it globally, and my country willingly gave its men and money to further this laudable and virtuous aim. The sad truth is that slavery has unfortunately always existed throughout the centuries and perpetrated by every race against every other race. Britain itself was colonized at least twice - first by the Romans and then much more brutally by the Normans. For centuries our people were captured as slaves and taken to foreign shores - by the Romans, the Vikings, by the Irish ... yes, that's how Saint Patrick got to Ireland; he was from the west of Britain and captured by the Irish - and even by non white people - yes, they were enthusiatic traders - such as the Barbary pirates and Arabs who frequently raided here, and took captives to the slave markets of the Mediterranean and Arabia. This didn't stop until the Royal Navy became the "top dog" fleet towards the end of the 18th century and beyond. That is the meaning of the words in "Rule, Brittania" about the Brits never being slaves again. I guess what I'm trying to say in a long- winded post is that history is never simple, it is very nuanced, and looking at the subject by just skimming the surface does our ancestors - of every hue and nationality - a massive disservice 😐🇬🇧 Oh, and by the way, to all those Meghan Markles out there ... I can honestly say that Britain is NOT a racist country. Yes, we've got our fair share of bigots, but the country as a whole? No!

I've read that the reason people thought her mom was the nanny is because she told them that Doria was the nanny, so it wasn't as much a racist assumption from others, but her wanting to be perceived a certain way that her mother's presence would complicate for her.
