man we need more complete emmy awards from the 90s on youtube I'd play the RIP game if only so many people from this awards show hadn't died (most recently Leo Chaloukian and James Earl Jones....sometimes I hate updating this thing) hell Sam Kinison was dead less than a year after this show Ha! the joke is on Dennis MIller, Lucci won her emmy 8 years later kind of makes me sad watching those married with children ads, because Katy's baby was stillborn wait a minute, Ashley Olsen's middle name is Fuller!?!?!?!? holy crap that is the most shocking coincidence ever 1:11:40 no I checked the show's been nominated before 1:11:25 that's a pretty damn good Seinfeld impression hmm I guess they didn't do in memoriams back then. But seriously the thing I love about these old awards telecasts is that it's like a time capsule It's actually amazing how Bob Odenkirk went from SNL to BCS 2:55:02 Oops

I found two different uploads of the 1998 Emmy awards but I don't think they are in their entirety
Back when celebrities still had some sort of mystery. Now ..its not so fun anymore. That mystery is gone. Social media and cello phones ruined it. Oh well.. Long live the good old days of hollywood.
hey I'm old enough to remember a time before social media was a thing, I'm old enough to remember when cell phones were around and those things didn't even play snakes. But I'm also one of many people that can't remember a time without the Simpsons. I'm like 2 months older than the show (if you count Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire)
I was kind of poor so 😂😂 I did not enter to the social media until 10, before that everything was my imagination and TV and also computers were fat and boring to me at that time
Came here after listening to an archived NPR review (Fresh Air Archive) that actually panned the award show. The critic noted that the only highlights were the speeches, particularly Kirstie Alley (RIP) with her now famous "big one" acceptance speech, and Burt Reynolds picking up on that in his own speech. Of the several hosts, the critic noted that only Seinfeld did a good job, especially with his quick-thinking ad-lib to the "big one" theme. I would also add James Earl Jones opening as a highlight for me.
Burt Reynolds: "I'll tell you all those pictures, 'Navajo Joe:' they paid off." Too funny! Burt Reynolds always had a way of giving us a great laugh right when we needed it most. I'm three days late, but Happy Birthday in Heaven.
Burt Reynolds! YES! Marilu Henner said it for all of us! I'm so glad I found this! His humor was infectious! He always gave us a good laugh when we needed it most. Of all the celebrities who've died in my lifetime, his passing still hurts the most.
@@annasloan2349 He made Hollywood fun! When he died, I was going through a very difficult time at my job and was a victim of character assassination. What was worse is no one at work would defend me. Their attitude was, "It's not happening to me." Whenever I was down, a Burt Reynolds movie always picked me up. At this time, even those didn't work. Well, the people who made false accusations against me paid dearly for it at work, and I got transferred to a BETTER JOB right before Christmas. My amazing wife came through with a mother lode of Burt Reynolds movies to make me laugh again. I got "Deliverance," where he was robbed of an Oscar, "The Longest Yard," the REAL VERSION, "Gator," and "Cannonball Run." I also ordered "White Lightning" and "Starting Over" and already had "Smokey and the Bandit." I could LAUGH AGAIN and haven't stopped. His acceptance speech was classic. "All those movies, 'Navajo Joe' they paid off."

I remember burt reynolds from the time i was a kid..my first memory of him was sneaking in the hallway as a kid and watching the best little whorehouse in texas. I got caught because i couldnt stop laughing. My dad always had smokey and the bandit playing when i was a kid, that and every which way but loose...clint eastwood was big at the time..i was born in 1980 and so this was early 80s. When i got older i was pregnant with my 4th and last child and my husband bought the smokey and the bandit 2 pack and my sons were kids and they watched that dvd of smokey snd the bandit so much it was all scratched and skipped snd they still watxhed it...so i watched it all the time and i thought how crazy it is that burt reynolds movies seem to age so well... I loved him in stripetease and when he guest stared on my name is earl...and i hated that dukes of hazard movie but still loved his performance. There will only be one burt reynolds...he can never be duplicated or replaced. He was cool, suave, tall dark and handsome, he was also interesting more complex then hes givem credit for and definitly and icon of style and celebrity from the 70s and 80s on up till his passing.

I miss when the Emmys were about the actual best of TELEVISION! Now it's basically just The Streaming Service Awards! Seriously, that's basically all that's nominated this year!!
I just noticed something about this when it's announced that Burt Reynolds won the Emmy. Look at the faces of the other nominees, specifically above the right shoulder of Craig T. Nelson at 2:48:52. Jerry Van Dyke, one of the costars on Nelson's show, "Coach," looks down in disgust and touches his forehead and bridge of his nose. Everyone else was genuinely happy for Burt Reynolds. The guy's career had been languishing, and this was a big moment for him, but Van Dyke has to be the one bad apple. Susan Lucci showed more class the 18 times she didn't win the Daytime Emmy than Van Dyke showed in this moment. I was raised not to speak ill of the deceased, but I will say this was not Jerry Van Dyke's finest moment. It was shameful and classless.
I remember so many of these old commercials. I also remember when thede t.v shows were in their prime..before everyone had cable and options on what to watch. Growimg up we had ABC, NBC, CBS and if I turned the top dial, bottom dial and messed with the rabbit ears i could get fox to come in.
Lol i remember as a teenager a whopper from burger king was 99 cents and so was the mcchicken with the long piece of lettuce. For awhile in i think 1999 or 2000 mcdonalds did a thing where the little hamburgers were 29 cents and the little cheeseburgers were 39 cents. So much has gpne up like cigarettes...im a smoker and i started smoking when i was a teenager in the early 90s..marlborors were 1.99 and now they are almost i dollars where i live. Price of stuff goes up and up and minimum wage stays the same, its a shame people have to choose between paying rent and buying food.
