I fired one that belonged to a fellow police officer back around 2006. He was hand loading lead gas checked bullets in it back then. It wasn’t miserable to shoot like a .475 linebaugh.
I've only fired 20 rounds of factory ammo; one box of Hornady 325 JHPs. It wasn't too bad. I've fired quite a few cast bullet handloads, though. Right after I bought it I got one of the Lee 400 grain molds (which is probably what your friend has), then later a semi-custom 292 grain plainbase mold. It's great with the lighter bullet at about 1000 fps.
I've seen some of their products. Interesting stuff. Their .44 barrel liner is .640" OD though, which is too large to fit in the .480 barrel and too small to thread for the (.750") frame. If I were actually going to convert it to .44 I would look for a .44 SRH barrel and swap it out. They're out there, and can be had for a reasonable price. Main thing is I found the cylinder assembly cheap, and decided to experiment with it.
@@Possumliving 👍 sounds like most common sense thing to do . As for chaszel I thought about getting either a 30/30 or 7.62x39 or 45/70 18 inch rifled liner for my coach gun for a thicket hunting for deer. Really don't get shots in some spots much over 50 yards at best . Put some cheap sights on the rib .
@@larryalexander4833 Those adapters are a lot of fun, and useful too. A .45/70 liner in a coach gun would be great. .44 Mag would be another good choice.
