I found my family member's old rusted NEF Pardner SB1. After an hour of sanding and polishing, I brought it back to life. Gorgeous little cheap shottie. A great truck or farm gun. I think they paid $90 for it brand new back in 1995 at Dick's Sporting Goods. lol The actual gun is hardened steel (look at the coloration @3:37) compared to the barrel. The wood is solid and beautiful Walnut. Every home should have one of these just based on price alone. Great beginner shotgun and super easy to maintain. If you see one online or in a pawn shop for under $150, talk them down 20 bucks and buy it!

Anyway the mother superior just got her ham license! shes 78yo. I have been going over there working on there water collection system . They told me a couple of days ago they are gettin a LP antennae and could I set it up for them. I used to do that back in the 80s so I said sure. I have an old tabletop Sangean SW with a long copper wire mounted and grounded to a big tree branch set up on a carabiner I can rotate it depending on the need it works great but there are not the SW stations like in the old days.

Evening Possum, good to see ya posting. Back in the 80s I worked out of telephone central office, I was the sub cable guy and also did OSP and HF antenna maintenance, we had a bank of LA batts, that had been there since the 60s, simple monthly maintenance. We had a charge controller that manual charged em but you had to do it on a regular basis. I have been considering a solar set up I currently have a rudimentary set up for a H20 pump system I use to move water from cistern to my outside shower, animal water, and garden water. Its been going for over a year and it was a set of replaced 800CCA batterys that had been in my F250 IDI dates on batts are 02/2019.

Hey Frog; good to hear from you, my friend. I'm not surprised that you have a battery setup. I used to be able to get glass cased telcom batteries that were originally 8V but had a dead cell. Cut the strap to the dead cell and use them as 6V batteries. They were cheap, high capacity and still had lots of life remaining. Wish I could still get those.

Just so you know, these are not Damascus Steel. There were two basic kinds of mandrel built barrels from back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. They were Damascus and Twist barrels. But, they are two separate things. The only similarity was that they were both hammer forged and welded around a mandrel to form the shape of the barrel. The Twist was the cheapest of the two barrel forms and was constructed by using plain 1015 to 1020 steel rod stock. In the case of the Damascus steel it started by forging several layers of steel, iron and steel alloys into blocks that were folded and folded over and over which like Damascus forgings today formed intricate designs that was then hammered around the mandrel to form the barrel shape. If you look closely at your barrels you will see the twist pattern, but not the pattern associated with Damascus. Damascus as I mentioned earlier was the more expensive product and was reserved for the higher quality guns for its artistic additions to such firearms. The barrels you have are Twist not Damascus, as is marked on the rib of your barrels. Many quality American side by sides used English Twist and Damascus barrels in the construction of their guns. Some of those companies included both Parker Brothers, LC Smith and the like. I am a Parker collector and have both Damascus, Twist and some of their later fluid steel barreled guns.

We own this little monster, and take minor issue...we note you have owned this gun, and the magnum model, for quite a while...you wouldn't mind acquiring the .22 short model (i want one, too!), so there IS something about these guns you do like (the .22lr can run shorts and long, also, but we run those less than every blue moon)...the redeeming feature is the utter concealability of these guns, they can go anywhere...that is not bad shooting, we never practice beyond 10 feet with ours, the gun is difficult to shoot well, and fast reloads impossible...your misfires surprised me, shooting primarily cheap bulk ours has almost never misfired, but .22 is .22...we have well over a thousand rounds (maybe two thousand) downrange on ours, as practice is a constant requirement (ours sees the range more often than any other gun we own), and the gun is fun to shoot...we think of our gun as that last second, last chance, pull in surprise and stick in bad guy's ear option...it is the narrowest of niches, but we have found nothing more suitable...we very rarely carry ours, but it is available, and we currently load cci velocitors if need be...every gun is a compromise, these sacrifice much to be so concealable, the gun owns that in spades...last thing, like your little holster...
