FWIW, during a rainy day, I came across the state of Minnesota firewood rules. That state indicates that a sawed, split, and stacked “cord” is 120 Cu-ft when stacked and 165 cu-ft when thrown in…. They use the 128cu-ft volume for four foot logs stacked…. I wish I could get a non box store splitter. I have to pack a lunch to split a cord of wood….

Jake/Chris - Supplier I use to buy wood from recommended buying Green in late-winter/early spring. Face Cords were “bigger”, at a cheaper price. Had to get $4000.- worth of tree done at my home, that I’m now splitting at my own pace for fireplace use only. Ripped the bigger rounds for easier handling. Using corded chainsaw and splitter. Def Homeowner style, but it works for what I need. Luv watching you 2 get it done. Thnx…

Its good idea, just be careful, because that dang green wood dries, and shrinks, like alot depending on species. And the people come out to the 4 ft tall stack next winter and the stack is 3ft 3" feet tall now... so good idea sending extra wood along.
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 8 месяцев назад
I’ll always send a little extra but they are buying a green cord. Not a green cord and a quarter to compensate so it dries and shrinks to a cord. If they want a cord of seasoned wood they can pay for a cord of seasoned wood.

I was going to suggest what you said about the road behind the splitter. With a little excavation you could level everything up and get the tractor to the back of the bin to push the pile in. If you wanted to get fancy you could pour a small concrete ledge or concrete block wall as a stop and pile up millings for a ramp in and out of the bin. Nice work!

In Europe we do have the measurements „stacked meter“ and „thrown meter“. So everybody is speaking the same language. I don’t know the calculation with your 16 inch wood. Our 10 or 12 inch wood the thrown meter is 70% of a full stacked meter. So ist makes a significant difference and I can imagine that the difference is a little more with longer wood.

Hey guys, you need to move the center divider plan up the list of things to do. They aren't that hard to do and it will be a time and labor saver for you. If you split the bin in half you would have .93 of a cord level with the top. If you add the little space around your hook buildout I bet you are real close to a cord. This way you don't have to hand level the load and more importantly you will be closer to a full cord and not short yourself. It looked to me that you were quite a bit above your marks on the cord you did. I would guess maybe 5 or 10% over. That means that if someone buys 10 cord off you it might be as much as 11 cords. I've noticed that when we load smaller than full loads in our trailers that we are always way over the correct amount.
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 8 месяцев назад
I’d like to do a divider, i think the camera was a bit deceiving on how full the can actually was however I did want to make sure I provided more wood than less.
