I wish the commentator wouldn't make up "facts," and would just let the video speak for itself. The clip at 4:22 was shot next to the Peace Bridge, in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. It was no "tidal wave;" I stood next to it. This area sits in the region where Lake Erie empties into the Niagara River. In springtime, the ice breaks up on the lake, and is compacted as it flows into the (comparatively) narrow river region, causing it to pile up. In the past, huge ice chunks (and even whole ice walls) caused serious damage to constructions along the river. Nowadays, this is mostly prevented with the help of an ice boom that runs across the river head. However, during this breakup, a storm broke up the big ice chunks (rather than letting them shrink from melting). The wind and the flow of the river piled them up along the breakwall. (This breakwall was erected by Niagara Parks, to reduce flooding along that area during times of storm or high water.) The weight pushed ice through the wall, but it never got farther than a few dozen feet up the banks - which is exactly what the structure is meant to do. A few basements did flood due to this event, but they were more than a kilometer southward, along the lake - and, truth be told, isn't an unusual event. It's sort of the homeowners' fault for buying/building a house with a basement along a lowland river corridor. For a truly impressive example of ice damage on the Niagara River, check out the collapse of the Honeymoon Bridge in Niagara Falls, in 1938. A British news company caught footage of the actual moment of collapse; very cool to watch!
@@BeholdAPaleHorsey That bit didn't bother me; it seems like English isn't their first language. They're probably doing a better job of it that I would do at theirs. 🙂
If you aren't keen on the commentary then just don't watch this person's video everyone has an off switch but few are willing to use it, if I don't like a video I just leave and go to a different one.
The Brazilian dam break was a compilation of several different incidents. The initial clip was taken after heavy rains caused the soil to slip off of a large clay pack. This wasn't caused by any dam breaking.
Some interesting clips. Some clips were of intentional water releases from dams so should really not have been included here. Too many videos clips submitted here are still being recorded in the unnatural looking and view limiting portrait (vertical) mode. People should almost always record videos in the natural looking landscape (horizontal) mode instead. Landscape mode shows far more area and far more detail!
Mother nature taking back what was once hers. She's been doing it for billions of years. What has happened to ppl it killed is a tragedy but we keep building and trying to take away but she is proving to be more powerful. 😮❤
OK folks -- Get ready for some great videos that are ruined by misnamed events, bad descriptions, incorrect names, exaggerated sizes, and general lack of knowledge about what's happening in the scenes. The narration is so just plain wrong, it should have been an embarrassment to whoever posted this compilation. ... but the pics are fun to watch.
Who knew water could be such a troublemaker? From waves crashing like Hollywood blockbusters in California to dams giving way like dramatic movie finales in Brazil, and even New York subway stations deciding to take a swim
se non lo sapevi ora lo sai e vai a piedi e la smettete di pompare co2 assieme gli stati e governi nel mondo altrimenti sarà un mare totale in tutto ilmondo di questo passo
8:44 OH NO.. I hope that horse was okay..... you can see it coming and you LEAVE the horse... ugh... people are just the worst.... there should be a covid v2.0, because we dont deserve this planet.
1:02 I think it was a mining incident with the waste mix with water being able to cause a landslide with a lot of mortality😢. The company tried to cover it up or something like that
The claims by some I saw elsewhere that 'we are the strongest species on earth' is just laughable! The earth just nullifies that idea in a fraction of a second.
The video could have been 5 minutes shorter if somebody (?) would leave out those idiotic waves between scenes. It's one more thing that makes this whole series a pain in the ass to watch.
One if you could do without the annoying comments, then turn your comments off too. You should show where these events happened and what year they happened.
OMG ! Got to be the worst sound track I've heard on RU-vid in the last year. Errors galore ! It's like WOWTV just made up s**t to fill in the blanks. Got to be 10 steps above annoying ! Could be used to torture your enemies instead of bamboo under his finger nails.
