Thank you so much for sharing this. The longer my hair gets, the harder the detangling gets and the more scissor happy I get. I also like the fact that you give an explanation that goes with it.

I feel embarrassed to say but I as a 31 year old woman is just learning how to properly de-tangle my hair. I always thought you did it only while conditioning or with loads of products. For some weird reason I always thought I was supposed to be able to run my hands through my fine, high density, tender-headed, 4b hair. My denmana brush is on the way and I only came here was because I wanted to see what products you used to buy exactly what you use but... You only used water. Like I'm blown. These other natural hair videos forced me into being a product junkie cause I never really knew how to properly de-tangle. Really thank you. I tell my daughters what I learned from you and now they help me de-tangle my hair and it doesn't hurt. Love the videos 😘

The fact that it took me so long to find you is the part that is the most upsetting 😩. I don’t live in GA unfortunately but you have been so helpful in the short time since I found your channel. I recently got my hair blown out and trimmed and the stylist ask me how I detangle my waist length thick hair and I showed her the EZ detangling brush I use she said it’s causing a lot of breakage at the ends and to stop using it . Thank you for giving me a better way to get this hair together.

After being natural for 5 years I learned natural hair needs tender touching to detangle. Being Extra gentle and patience taking your time to brush or detangle. Our fingers and hands give natural hair body and health which leads to thick long healthy natural hair.

Never tried a paddle brush...hmmm good idea. I usually do olive oil and leave in conditioner under a cap for a few hours and it loosens shed hair and softens. Water makes the process longer but with a paddle brush it may speed it up. Thanks!

Thank you so much for making this video! This seems like a far more logical approach for my hair type. I watched Cyn Doll’s video where she recommended detangling hair with oil and a small toothed comb, and I seriously regret trying. Thankfully I realized early on that detangling is far more effective for me when my hair is moist.

This video was very on point! I've been using a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair. In the shower. I just wash my hair as is and then let the conditioner sit on my wet hair for awhile before I try to detangle. This way seems much easier. I've always been afraid of the paddle brush. But now, I might try it.
@indeeditiscirro
@indeeditiscirro 4 года назад
Thanjs so much. I felt ashamed BC the wider toothed comb isn't detangling my hair well enough (not pulling out the shed hairs) and I've been worried about what brush/comb to get. Maybe I'll try a paddle brush. My hair has never detangles as well as that and I've always felt like my hair just isn't supposed to be that manageable unless blown out. You're saving me Narada

I will definitely try this on my next wash day. I hate detangling with a passion so I hope this will help me. It looks simple enough and I will buy that paddle brush as well because the wide tooth combs don't seem to help detangle my hair much at all. Love your videos, keep up the good work!

You've just convinced me to purchase a paddle brush. I've always been afraid of brushes, but this makes perfect sense compared to a wide tooth comb (which I've always used). My hair is going through this major shedding phase and I've found that my comb adds breakage to this phase. I need something that moves with my hair. I have the water-conditioner technique down but I think a paddle brush will benefit me most.

Thanks for the tip on using a paddle brush. I use one for the first time today and I love it! I honestly did not lose as much hair as I would have if I use a detangling comb or a Denman brush. Honestly, I thought this brush would not work on my 4a 4b hair and I love it. What am I going to do with my detangling comb and Denman brush now? Lol. You always give helpful tips and I appreciate it thank you.

My hair sheds like crazy. Detangling takes forever for me to do, so I have to wait a while till I have a full day of me not doing anything for me to commit to detangling because its a work out. The problem I have is that when my hair sheds, the curls are so tight that it clings to the very ends of my hair and literally won't let go.

@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 9 лет назад
luvpurple95 If your hair is thin/fine, a wide toothed comb may be the best choice. However, depending on your density, you may want to invest in a brush that has EXTREMELY flexible bristles. They will help you detangle and pull out shed hairs while being extremely gentle on your hair.

Amazing video as always! I have 2 questions! when it comes to straighten natural hair at home. What will be the best way to get straight without damage but still have a lot of bounce and shine to the hair? My hair doesn't like being blown dried so I normal do the banding method and also I do have a In-styler as well. Also about Triming. I know you always suggest to for us to go to a professional but ALOT of the salosn near me know NOTHING about natural hair and I don't trust them. Plus they change WAY to much like 45-60 dollars! So I figure I'll do it myself. I do have short hair too like 1 1/2 year worth of growth. So how do think I should go about that? Should I section it and cut a blunt cut to the ends or should I cut it at a angle? Etc..

As a Black woman who was traumatized by her own hair due to the ridicule of mistreatment by my own flesh and blood out of pure jealousy, I have never felt so seen. I too like to detangle with a paddle brush because combs are so traumatizing to me. Throughout my childhood, my cousins use to RAKE the 💩 out of head and the combs would always break. Or the cousin who is responsible for my alopecia would pop me in the head with combs because he thought it was funny to do in front of people. Thank you so much for this small validation, “the paddle brush works for me and my head.”

How often should one detangle hair? I detangle once every three weeks, because all I do my hair is twis out the nighttime taken down in the morning twist again in the nighttime until it’s washed day in about three weeks that is when I detangle and when I do, I am extremely extremely gentle and I am waiting too long to do detangle my hair?

Kimberly Akinyi Something is going on with your hair. Your hair must be breaking off at the ends at the same rate that your hair is growing in from your scalp. I suggest you examine your hair routine and find out where you are losing your length.

After you wash your hair you might want to deep condition to put back the lmoisture and what not back in your hair. I think it's personal preference but I see tht people with really thick hair that like to deep condition before they shampoo to soften the hair.
