Between this and the range test video, you really put the V13 through its paces.

Way to push through Marty!! That ride looked grueling! Anyone that says that there is no exercise in unicycles obviously has either never been on one....or hasn't been on any level 5 tracks for a good period of time! It's definitely a lot of cardio!

I feel you Marty. I once got lost on a 3 tiered wooded bike trail on my V11. I expected a 20min run turned to be nearly 1:30. The turns just kept coming. A biker showed me how to get back to the trail head. When i got out, i was exhausted. It took everything i had to ride back to the truck. I was relatively new, and I learned a lot. Made me better.

This is a great challenge for the challenger and for the rider. I can just think its hard to constantly keep the wheel on track, concentrating and then also getting the video to look right. Its hard work. But as you say it would be good to see the Garmin hart rate on this ride. Awesome views and great challenge.

I thought that was more of a street wheel, glad it is sort of capable with trails. I am still interested in it for its durability. I don't like that all InMotion wheels are reported to be hard to work on, but if it holds up well and all I had to do was fix tires, I could see owning it. I do have a shop sort of near me (~120 miles) over the Canadian border, but I would like to do as much as I can myself since I probably couldn't just wait there while it gets done.
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles Год назад
Working on wheels is very easy. You only need a few hand tools. It's only intimidating the very first time and then you realize how easy it is. Some wheels can take more time than others but they aren't more 'difficult'.

I noticed that you are not using a tether system like Dawn Champion uses. Is that because it is dangerous to use a tether in the mountains?
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles Год назад
I've never yet needed a tether in the 6-1/2 years that I've been riding. If I rode very fast where there was a possibility of a cutout then I'd probably use a tether as Dawn does. Not much need to in the mountains.
@bobdebouwer7835
@bobdebouwer7835 Год назад
The wheel doesn't seem to eager to get moving. Is it simply the torque that is reaching is limits? Or are the powerpads limiting the amount of leaning you can do? I'm thinking if you stand more to the front on the pedals it might help. With the current electric moments I'm convinced we need geared motors. A planetary gear would fit nice in the euc form.
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles Год назад
Have you ever ridden UP mountain trails like this with heavy wheels. It's not easy to mount the wheel and get forward momentum when the trail is crappy and uphill.
@bobdebouwer7835
@bobdebouwer7835 Год назад
@@ElectricUnicycles I haven't ridden heavy wheels. I hoped it would be a breeze for such a high power motor.

"they'll probably die" *truth* Welcome to the Ring of Fire. The whole west coast, for hundreds of miles inland, can be brutally unforgiving or unforgivingly brutal, take your pick. But everyone is guaranteed to find something they like...lots of variety to choose from, just drive an hour and everything can change completely. I live up on the east side of the Oregon Coast Range near the Columbia River - there are thousands of stairs all over the bluffs and archaeologists are going to think we're the cave people this time when they find our cities hacked into the bedrock 10,000 years from now. We had a mountain blow up once when I was a kid; the terrain doesn't fool about with subtleties, that's what makes it fun/interesting (and regen-filled).

@AJames-jr8kw
@AJames-jr8kw Год назад
If you look at Eevee's V13 teardown you will see they had trouble removing 1 bolt and had to bash it with a hammer. I would not be surprised if that was the one that broke when they put it back together.

@ElectricUnicycles

@@AJames-jr8kw Yeah, never good idea to bash anything on our wheels with a hammer 🙂 Unlike some reviewers I prefer not to take apart a wheel unless I have to because of a problem. You already introduce the risk of breaking something in the process.
