Mostly, Ancient people used to worship the one who had the great power like king ruler of his kingdom either they do it for fear or for showing honor n respect. Or the one who were they gets benefits from it like money etc.. Those Idols that today people worship no doubt either at some period of ancient time, they were also a human beings with great powers or may be they were a king or something else, and people used to called them god & worship them for honor or respect, example are in the video. So, maybe there were no one came to aware them from it or maybe Allah had sent any prophet but they neglected it like the way non muslim neglecting Muhammad (SAW) today, and that's how there tradition goes on from generation to generation. But at the same time, there are many people where Allah shows them the right path and they reverted and also many people that Allah also destroyed, like the story of people of different prophets that we get to know from Quran or Hadith that how Allah destroyed there power and people who neglected his signs that Allah shows them with the help of Prophet's. And, today there are also many people who are following these fake mythology whose doesn't have any existence. May Allah guide them. But note, he is our last Prophet, Prophet Muhammad SAW so no one will came to aware you again till the Qiyamah you have to think of it on your own what is right or wrong before leaving this world.
