In this video I attack a 47re tune up. It was having a delayed shift when it was cold, and starting in 2nd or 3rd gear once it warmed up. I changed the Filter, Pressure Gov., Pressure sensor and speed sensor. I also upgraded the Pressure gov. block by drilling it out. I also adjust the front and rear bands. I have over 500 miles on it since the tune up and I honestly couldn't be happier with the way its operating!!

@12:25 I just drilled a 1/8 inch hole and ran in a #12 self-tapper with the rubber washer- 4yrs ago, no drips, nothing. Cost .10c. No more mess dropping the pan. Good video. Thumbs up!

The Mopar solenoid is the best one to use, it's the most robust one and the gm one can cause other issues if you don't have the other mods done with it. Hate to say use the oem part but it really is the best one. I went through a Dorman solenoid, a ATS solenoid, and another brand I can remember and I ended up going back to the Mopar oem solenoid and haven't had an issue since.. the other solenoids all only lasted about 3 months or so give or take a little each. So after wasting alot of money on these solenoids im sticking with oem and my trans is built with firepunk street/race series master rebuild kit and the oem solenoid works great. And yeah I agree I always use a little gasket maker on the trans pan to hold the gasket in place and I never get any leaks. The trans pan bolts torque are 100 in lb. I use gasket maker on the oil pan as well to help with gasket.. and thats coming from a guy who hates using gasket maker on vehicles haha but when you have to, you have to haha

Would drilling into the block for the solenoid actually help with the flow ?

My 99 is doing the same thing, high reving, can’t find the gear it wants, OD isn’t engaging, going from 4th to 3rd over and over. Did my TPS sensor, output speed sensor, changed the fluid etc. I’m putting a new governor solenoid and transducer in it this weekend. A few trans shops said get rid of those old parts and put new ones in.
@naturalmisfit9633

The new parts definitely helped and I believe adjusting both bands definitely helped a lot to.

sounds like maybe the 3/4/OD spring is weak or broken. He shows installing in the vid.

@@barrybennett1292 This. Mine was broken into 3 pieces. Because of how easy it is to access, you should at LEAST inspect it every time you’re in there for a filter change. No excuse not to if you’re already in there.

How's this transmission running now? Curious after your guessing about the clutch band torque and guessing about the filter drill mod...

Sorry guys, I haven’t checked the comments in awhile. The trans is doing really well. I haven’t had any issues since this video. It runs consistently at 162 degrees and shifts great. I don’t beat on it though, I have a very mild tune (superchip tuner) it’s not fast lol but shifts like it should.
@sergionava9692

I’m having the same issue with my transmission and took it to a mechanic and he wants to charge me $9000. For a new transmission. He said, because it has 175,000 miles changing the governor will not fix the problem. What’s your thoughts? Is too much money to spend.
@naturalmisfit9633
@naturalmisfit9633 Год назад
@@sergionava9692 Man I’m sorry I don’t check these enough. I want to say with fluid and all I was under $500 I’m no mechanic but I took the chance and did this to mine. I paid less than 9k for the truck. So I was willing to give it a go and it worked well. That truck has over 30k on it since doing this and it still shifts great. I did a filter and fluid change at 25k and the fluid still looked clean that came out of it. The trans still runs 160-165 on hot days and shifts like it’s a new trans.
