People love Krakow, and now I know why. This was once the Capital of Poland and today it still retains the medieval charm from its glory days. The Old Town is surrounded by a green park, separating it from the modern urban sprawl and maintaining the fortified cities charm. A castle looms over the old town and a market square centers the city and gives it an open feel. A thirteenth century gothic cathedral rings out over the city every hour and gives you a real glimpse into what life was like hundreds of years ago. Not far from this colorful city, you can tour Auschwitz, the main site of humanities worst genocide and pay respects to those who were killed. History is rich in Krakow, so let me show you my time there...

Another fantastic video from Poland. I love Krakow. You should travel to Krakow again in the summer when the sky is blue. The city looks really gorgeous then. There are also many day and overnight trips around Krakow. You already visited Zakopane, Tatra Mountains and Auschwitz German cocentration camp. As I'm planning my trip to Poland next year I made a list of things to see around major cities. Here are some awesome places around Krakow: 1. Wieliczka Salt Mine (just like Krakow it is a Unesco World Heritage site; in fact Krakow was inscribed on on the 1st ever Unesco World Heritage list back in 1978) 2. Zakopane town and the gorgeous Tatra National Park. This is definitely an overnight trip. You can spend a week + exploring the mountains. Easy places to visit for the 1st time visitors are the spectacular Morskie Oko lake (Eye of the Sea lake) and the nearby Valley of 5 lakes. All beautiful post-glaciar lakes. Also, the cable car up Kasprowy Wierch summit is easily done and so is the Gubałówka Mountain. There are many other easy hikes in the valleys or challenging hikes in the mountains. The architecture in Zakopane called zakopianski style is beautiful as well. 3.Dunajec River Gorge traditional rafting trip is awesome, too. So are the scenic Pieniny Mountains National Park and Szczawnica spa town. The raft trip through the Dunajec River Gorge is done on traditional wooden rafts. Two skilled local raftsmen operate each raft, so you can just sit back and enjoy the views. 4. Ojcow National Park and the Trail of Eagles Nests (over 20 medieval castles dotting the rocks). The natural rock formations are really cool in the park. Two of the most well-known castles in that area are Pieskowa Skala and the grand ruins of once imposing Ogrodzieniec Castle (used as a filming location in some scenes in Netflix show, the Witcher.) 5. Lots of picturesque smaller towns including Bielsko-Biala, Tarnow, Sandomierz 6. Beautiful Lancut Castle with its original interior 7. There are also lots of spa towns in the surrounding mountain ranges. Also, not a day trip, but a place right outside of Krakow (20 minutes) is a U Zyiada restaurant in Przegorzaly Castle. The outdoor dining offers sweeping views of the Vistula River, the nearby hills, the Tyniec Abbey and if you are lucky, the Tatra Mountains in the distance... on a very clear day. Another unusual place is Pustynia Bledowska (Bledowska desert) . They used to have 4 by 4 tours there. Not sure if they still do. I think some allied troops in WWII trained there, too. I actually like the Slowinski National Park and its giant shifting dunes (biggest in Europe) even more. But that's on the Baltic Sea coast.

@@thetravelingzam Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot, this is Tricity, in polish we say TRÓJMIASTO, trój from trzy(three) and MIASTO from city. Sopot and Gdynia in other places like US will be a part of Gdańsk I think :P Look at map borders of this cities, its 3 cities but you have places like ERGO ARENA, which is... in Gdańsk and... Sopot, because a one half of place below to Gdańsk, other half to Sopot, look at map this place :D

Kraków was one of the few cities that weren't bombed during WW2 so all you can see is original. For example Warsaw(Polish capital) was destroyed in 85% so every building in the old town you can see is from 1946-1955 and Royal Castle wasn't rebuilt until 1980's
