I was not a shatter me fan :P I remember reading my way through all of the stephanie perkins books because of bookstagram. I really enjoyed Lola when I read it, but struggled with Anna because of the cheating.
Thank you to john green for blessing us with your youtube channel. I never read an abundance of katherines which has a lot to do with teen me not getting along with the 2 john green novels I did read. I didn't think they were bad, just meh.
Warner's redemption so didn't work for me and that's why I couldn't stand the series! It didn't feel realistic. And also sarah j maas uses the trope of the guy you thought was bad was actually good wow. And well, I think that speaks volumes for how popular that trope still is.
Lol at Audible pretending there's no Vampire Academy audiobook. An Abundance of Katherines was also my first John Green book but I didn't like it then. I'm a little older than you though, so some of these are books from my teen years and some came out when I was already out of high school. Anyway, the series I thought I was too cool to read in high school but then found and loved when I stopped being so snobby later were the Ruby Oliver books. Have you read those? I would love to see you talk about them! I never read Isla because of the gap between Anna and Isla in publishing!!! I think I grew out of the series before it was published.
you want the full story ?? I'm going to tell you anyway (: When I was 15/16, my sister-in-law was in grad school and her English masters department was doing a tiny little literary festival and her advisor had gone to grad school with Lev Grossman. I think at this point --- The Magicians hadn't blown up yet and the other books hadn't come out yet --- I had read the book like a few weeks prior and was of coursem in love. So my sister-in-law took me to the event which was at a BAR lol and he read from The Magicians and afterward, I was the only person to come up to him (which is WILD). I was a big "nerdfighter" back then and just generally obsessed with the Green brothers and John Green had blurbed The Magicians. Embarrassingly, I asked him about it and he was like "oh yeah John is a really nice guy" Anyway, I was just this excited little puppy of a teenage girl, absolutely geeking out and he was SO SWEET and so kind. Like really listened to me and chatted with me for 20 mins. Will forever love him for that
oh wow jessica's guide to dating on the dark side i forgot that i read that. oh gosh i also read all of these back when i started on booktube in 2012-2015; what a time. ah i enjoyed nick & norah and the movie so much haha oh the 'at what cost?' when you finished john's book, yeah i can't go back and read those like i claimed paper towns as one of my favorite books when i read it in high school and i'm like that's probably not the case now but maybe one day i'll reread it and lfa since they are the ones i own still. i remember lovinggg anna and the french kiss, what a time haha thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Of course! Thank you for watching! AND YES paper towns wow that one i think probably holds up a bit better but I'm so glad to see John Green's writing has changed
