Welcome to my Channel,
My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.
FAQ
Where is Helen?
Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that RU-vid put on the videos.
Why the sponsored videos?
I only accept sponsorship from companies I use and trust, this is my fulltime job and my income, it’s how I support my family. (I have Patreon if you prefer videos with no ads).

Fabulous. Just went back in time to 1980. -1986. The Albert Dock, I remember the first docks to be regenerated and I worked at a stall in there about 1985. You went to 3 of the pubs we used to frequent as students. The philharmonic or The Phil as we used to call it has some interesting male toilets. Fancy Victorian urinals! Worth a visit. Ye hole in ye wall, the grapes were all part of the student scene. I remember the bar person in ye hole snatching away ash trays at last orders and when we asked what to do with our ash he said “ the world is your ash tray” pointing at the floor! Different times 😂. Liverpool looks like it’s had a bit of money thrown at it since then. Thank you for the memories. ❤❤

Be wary of the pubs towards the Pier Head end of Town, tourist traps and the worst for ripping people off. You actually passed a gem of a pub that's behind the Liverpool pub, The Cornmarket. Really enjoying your videos featuring my city, you're definitely showing off its good side.

There is so much more, honestly you need a week here. You have to see sefton park and Lark Lane. Also go on a ferry across the Mersey. Lots more stuff.

Good to see you visiting some of my regular go to pubs. Spent many a night in ye hole in ye wall. Has a ghost and an upstairs cellar. The post house is a straight pub downstairs and a gay bar upstairs. You definitely need to visit again, you've barely scratched the surface, so many quality pubs in Liverpool. Glad you enjoyed it.

The great thing about Liverpool is not only the great number of pubs but the variety of types; & prices! When we visit (deffo not a Fri/Sat Night!) when it's my partners turn to buy the round it is usually considerably cheaper than my round in the pub prior! LOL! In my experience, if it's full of young people the more expensive! Have subbed look fwd to more vlogs.

Another great Video, it was true about Hitler visiting Liverpool, he had a half Brother living here, I think he was a waiter. I've got a book about it somewhere called The Hitler's of Liverpool. He wasn't studying architecture though, he came over a few years after the 1st world war and stayed over for a few weeks. He had a nephew who went to Germany in the thirty's got a job on the line at Opel in Russelsheim. Hitler heard about this and got him a job within the Riech. As he didn't want even a distant relative working in a factory.

As a scouser born n bred, really enjoyed this. The incorrect stereotypes of the 80’s couldn’t be more wrong. You realise that as soon as you come here. Liverpool is an amazing place. Not many cities can touch it for architecture and night life or the hospitality of its locals. Regarding the Adelphi, it’s one of Liverpool’s grandest buildings, it’s just in the wrong hands. The owners won’t sell up despite many offers to do so, it should be Liverpool’s most luxurious hotel in a prime spot. I’m sure it will end up in the right hands one day. Also, you seen the Anglican cathedral (the most spectacular) but you didn’t see the Wigwam cathedral. Theres 2. 😂 plenty to still see on your next visit.

I'm a Sheffielder, had to go to Liverpool a few years back, was expecting a crime ridden, run-down dump, that's all I had ever heard of the place...........couldn't be more wrong, I found it a smashing place, full of some of the friendliest people you'll find, plenty to do in the centre, not a ghost town like many places, pleasant walks.

Glad you liked the city I live in. Oops, you’ve got The White Star in your list up top when you went to The White Hart. There is a White Star, near The Cavern and it’s a cracking pub, but it’s a long way down the hill from the ‘Hart. Now looking forward to Part 2. Cuing it up now.

It’s close, but I would say Birmingham would give you a good run for your money… the food available from street food to Michelin stared restaurants, is definitely better in Brum as is some of its festivals ( St. Patrick’s Day, Pride weekend, Birmingham weekender arts festival etc )…. I think the people are both some of the friendliest and nicest in the UK though and both have old stereotypes usually from people who have never been….

I've never been to Liverpool, but from your video there seems to be more than a little bit of a New York City vibe to it. I think John Lennon said that Liverpool is very much like New York, for an English city. Maybe that's why he felt at home in NYC when he moved over there.

You definitely need to goto the Museums to see the Mummies old cars trains and Aquariums in the main one and Library next door on your next visit all are free to enter also the Maritime Museum by the Liver Building. Glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you come back soon. 👍👍👍

Go to a Mersey Rail station and buy a Mersey rover ticket. With the ticket you can go on the trains buses and Mersey ferry all day long. You can go to Chester, New Brighton , Birkenhead , all over the show...

The philharmonic is where james cordon suprised the customers when sir paul McCartney was playing behind the curtain .Paul McCartney and James Corden's Carpool Karaoke team served up one of the biggest surprises in the celebrity world of recent times. People drinking in the Philharmonic Dining Rooms in Liverpool were treated to one of the most low key homecoming gigs from the Liverpudlian superstar!

Story about the liver birds . One is looking out to sea to see the sailors coming ashore ,and the other one is checking the pubs are open . If you ever get the chance go to the St George’s hall beer fest ,the end of the Friday afternoon session is very entertaining ? . .? My favourite drinking city, it used to be Manchester, before it attempted to become the London of the North, Liverpool still has that down to earth feel about it. Scousers are a friendly bunch, though if you meet a bad one, they will be very bad. You seemed to have enjoyed yourselves, despite an initial poor choice of pubs. When you were stood at the traffic lights, there was an Okells of the Isle Of Man pub right behind you, you would've liked that. It is grade 2 listed and is next door to another pub the Lady of Mann. My favourites are the Baltic Fleet, Lion Tavern, Cracke and the Belvedere. Great Vlog.
