One of the nicest 8n restorations I have seen.

Here is a little secret to attaching 3 pt linkage. When you first back up to the implement, attach the left lower lift arm first, then for the right you can use the crank up or down adjustment to attach link to implement. Then for the top link, you can use the lift to help raise up or down to get your top link hooked up. For this lighter blade, it's not really a big deal, but on some of the heavier equipment, it can make a big difference.

Buy a quick hitch and make hooking and unhooking even easier. I got one on my massey 50. Best thing I bought for the tractor.

Also, on those smaller Ford 8N, 2N, 9N, if your using it in the cold weather, make sure you go to a Tractor Supply or other farm store and buy the thermostat for the engine. It slides up into the upper radiator hose and works pretty good. That way you will get your engine up to a better working temp. The thermostat will actually help these Fords from overheating in the warmer weather also.

I will definitely check that out thanks

That’s a good looking 8N. Paint is in great shape and sounds like it runs nice, even if a little cold-natured to start.

Yeah it does well just not when it gets cold. Planning on installing a heater to the engine this spring. Thanks for watching

I'll be darned. I've never seen one of those little Fords that didn't look like it was going too fast for whatever it was doing but they always manage somehow. Couldn't hang with the snowblower though.

P245Sig yah I know right. There fun to drive usually but I couldn’t do it like this all winter every winter. I will have my Kubota back up there for the next snow storm and am curious if the blower will perform better on the back of that. Thanks for watching

@@backinthewoods2022 Couldn't be any worse with the extra HP, and like you said in the video the real problem is the lack of live PTO on the old girl.

You are courageous! Negative 5 and working outside to fit the blade. Then the snow blower! Did you get some good results with braking individual wheels? You made me laugh with the V-blade! You wondered about a 7 feet blade. I do have a 9 foot on the Case and it works fine on dirt and snow. I used it beginning of winter in snow (video #116 at 11:20). But I have plenty of ranges (3 ranges x 4 gears) so it can go from crawling to fast motion. The live PTO is indeed a must for that application. You had a tough task to accomplish and you did it! As for the squirrel, I would relocate them... in a new world. Thanks for sharing!

Joe Lesage yes the braking worked like a charm when the edge of the snow blower would start to bite into the deep stuff on the edge and sick me in I could steer out. I had to break down and send five squirrels to a better place, the older I get it’s harder to shoot things it seems. Thanks for the comments I have been watching how you made the plow on the bolens and thought of refiguring a atv plow I have to go on the 8n some way last year I might have to revisit that. It would work good for clearing walking trails.

Way to hang in there - not that you had much choice I guess. We have a little '52 Ferguson TEA20 which is almost a clone of the 8N in size and capability. Been looking around for a blower that you tow so you can run forwards. My dad had one on his Zetor. Upside is you can face forward and use the working gears, downside is of course you have unplowed snow under your drive wheels going forward. Can't win it seems!

I’ve seen those at work I think they would be great. Not sure if they would kick out debris though. I looked at them for my Kubota but they are very expensive. Too much for me. The old ones are hard to find. Thanks for watching👍

I have a 9N and use a pto clutch for the large attachments, that is Bushhog snowblower. It will give you extra length for the shaft.About $90.00 Cdn. Problem solved.

That snowblower looks like a handy gadget provided you're not blowing the snow all over yourself. If you come up with a way to mount it on the front of the tractor it would be more efficient and easier to use.

Keep your top link out of the top hole on your lift on the tractor hard on the lift

Gearing of the tractor seems a mismatch for the snow blower
@johnsadler8637
@johnsadler8637 2 года назад
Yes, on those 4-speed transmissions, reverse is actually a little faster than second gear. I have the same old PTO transmission on a Ford 3000. The combination of no live PTO and a fast reverse is almost the worst-case scenario for the snowblower. About the only workaround is to blow it before it gets too deep. I’d guess 6” of the snow he has there would be max. Maybe even 4-5. Can’t be so deep it bogs the tractor down.

Are those homemade chains or did you pick them up somewhere? I have a TO20 and it could use a set and I like the pattern on yours so they don’t get caught in the lugs.

Got a 52 8n and have axle weights you need them bad

@backinthewoods2022 4 года назад
I agree I need some wheel weights are those the same thing as axle weights?
@13kovact
@13kovact 4 года назад
Back In The Woods I have the ones that sit on top of the axle one on each side of course. When I was younger I could lift them up but now it would take another person to lift them up. They are held in place by two bolts, two long bolts that hold the fender on are used. Never do you spin your tires again. My grandfather got them years ago, back in the fifties, know idea where he got them from.

@@backinthewoods2022 Thanks for the reply. I just got an 8n this year. I'm still learning how to run it properly. I used it for the snow yesterday. It did OK. It was better than using a quad or our ranger, but not as comfortable as a P/U truck.

I think that fort has just too high of a gear in reverse for that blower
