No he doesn't and no he hasn't. He will probably earn it eventually but he isn't the best QB in the league so he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid QB in the league. I'm rooting for him though! Next year will be crazy with so many good QBs battling it out if everyone stays healthy.
The problem with your statement is that's not how contracts work. The Niners didn't give him 137mill because he earned it. They gave it to him because if they didn't, someone else would. Plus, he'll only be the highest paid for a couple weeks. Cousins, Wilson, and I think Rodgers will be getting new contracts and they all will be higher. Not because they are better players, but because they have the leverage to ask for more. If we had waited to sign Jimmy, we'd be paying him even more. The Niners were smart in this. Not to mention, like Kaep, this is an extremely team-friendly deal. After two years, it's basically year-to-year. Plus it's front-loaded, so if it works out with Jimmy, we'll be paying the most money now while we have an insane amount of cap-space and can afford to keep better players longer.

So he did not out preform his contract. However, if you view him as a playoff winning/Super Bowl appearance QB, then the 9'ers got their money's worth. Enjoy.
I hope Trey can take us back. I am going say this was worst decision that John and Kyle ever made during their tenure here as 49ers. Extend jimmy just only play 5 games what the heck. Jimmy was never healthy after acl ligament. 5 years with 137.5 million dollars. Should have did a paycut to keep other players like buckner. Jimmy was same as Trey when he only won 5 games in row and got extension after last 5 games. Don't listen to the eggheads and their BS Jimmy. We call SF "The City", "Frisco", "San Fran", "The Sko" and many other variations here throughout the Bay Area. There isn't anything wrong at all with saying "San Fran." I don't think Santa Clara has any nicknames and San Jose is known as "The Zae."
