This is a continuation from the previous video, where I give PPG MultiPro house paint as a base one more chance before switching over to Color To Go's Tricorn Black. An impromptu color palette change in using several different shades of gold turned out to be a good call, and I am super happy with the final results. This one gets resined for sure! Colors for this include Golden Iridescent Gold Fine and Gold Bright, Utrecht Quinacridone Gold, and This Little Piggy in Athena. THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Carbon Black and Titanium White . 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.
