If they make a trade they should be able to grab a top 10 OL. Team like Denver rebuilding might want more capital. If they draft anything but a OL in the first round I have no clue why.
I feel like IOL is a bigger need that RT. If you go back and rewatch most of Brocks INTs they happened on plays where the guards were pushed into his lap and he couldn’t complete his full throwing motion. I hope they end up with one of the good centres or guards once we are out of top 100 picks.
Interior pass blocking has silently been the Achilles heel for Shanahan's 49ers since 2017. The one year we had a top 10 O-line, we had C Alex Mack. LG Laken Tomlinsonz and RG Daniel Brunskill. Alex Mack was great and Laken and Brunskill were above average. Every other season our QB gets hit more than most QB's in the league which is why Shanahan has had so many QB's injured and when our QB has made it all year without getting hurt, they get wrecked by interior D-line either in NFC Championship game against The Rams or BOTH SUPERBOWL LOSSES! He needs to start investing in players who can pass block. Especially along the interior. I really hope Shanahan has learned his lesson of what eventually happens when you disregard pass blockers while building a roster!
@@justinah7400 I agree with everything you’ve said. But the good thing is this management invests in the IOL more than people think. Before the 2019 season they signed Weston richburg at centre but most people don’t remember that, they’ve spend good draft capital on banks and brought in Mack like you’ve said. It’s a place they are willing to spend. I hope that is something they will do again with Purdy.
Dave good analysis of the OL. Not only do we need much more talent there, but just from an attrition standpoint we HAVE TO draft there.Only 2 OL guys out of 5 are on multi- year contracts!! Got to account for Trents possible retirement also. So every factor says draft at least 2-3 blue chip OL's this year while the pool is deep in them. Next year we won't have 10 picks and who knows if any blue chippers will be there! SO NOWS THE TIME TO GET YOUR OL IN ORDER.
I believe it has to be offensive line. A late rounder I like is McGregor DE from Michigan. Long arms and good d line technique. He looks like a young Max Crosby. Big fan of Estime from ND.
Completely on board with McGregor. Perfect day 3 pick to give to Chris K, and push the guys already on the roster. Would love to see them select Leonard Taylor or Maason Smith in the same range as well.
2 fan friendly suggestion : 1- sort the visit list by projected round so we can follow in draft day 2- when showing the roster … your banner hides the bottom … put it at the top where your tabs are so we can see it all
Great job as always! I’m sorry to say that the volume of the pod cast goes from low so I turn it up and then it changes to very loud so I’m constantly adjusting my T.V.
Dave having several mediocre CB's is OK BUT I would sure be a lot more comfortable watching games if we had that total shutdown corner opposite Ward. That would also dramatically increase your defensive line production which the niners are so dependent on playing well. I realize we won't get that player through the draft but spending big on a super CB could make all the difference. Then Bosa's and Floyds numbers will go way up! I realize money is the problem with that BUT!!
With as many picks as we have this year there is absolutely no reason we don't draft at least 2 very good OL! They don't have to be the 2 or 3 top prospects as they will be gone by 31but there are a lot of very good guys after the top 3. This is an absolute MUST this year. Would like to see a good center and A good RT! With Purdy now one of the best QB's he deserves it now!
It all depends on who is around by the end of the first round. There are only about 10 to 12 really good OL in the draft, rest would be a crap shoot, so just because we have a bunch of picks does not mean we wind up with 2 very good OL. It would be lucky to get one if they can trade up a few spots.
Let's hope the Deebo/Aiyuk disrespectful approach to salary negotiations isn't the norm for 49ers going forward. It's an embarrassing S show Niner fans and Staff shouldn't have to deal with.
So much money spent in past on DL and they were just OK last year. Niners focus on improving OL where they clearly suck, and DL will be just OK again next year
it's not legal to use two TE's and two HB's right? Im very happy the 9ers are one of the teams to keep the fullback position. Special teams plays out yet? have we any examples ?
Ben Sinnott from K State is a baller, and maybe a 4th or 5th round pick. I watched him vs OU and Missouri. Makes tough catches in traffic and will hit! He could probably line up at FB, too.
Hmm, I'm not especially impressed with any of those mid-round WRs on the official visit list. Admittedly, I'm full "armchair expert" mode here, but I would think we'd much rather have Malik Washington, Anthony Gould, or Luke McCaffrey, who will probably be available around the same time. Also, I think Cornelius Johnson out of Michigan would be a great late-round pickup. He looks like a faster Jauan Jennings, with identical size and the same sort of blocking mentality. He'd gladly join the "to the fucking Gatorade" club.😁
